  1. I guess VD does recognize that Neverwinter Nights, Morrowind, and Diablo are all quality RPGs. Some of the best ones ever made.

Sergei Samsanov is an Oiler! That should hopefully round out two solid scoring lines in the top 6! I'll miss Marty Reasoner because he was a class act that played any role asked of him, but I think the trade was a good one.
  3. Was I in court? It was a casual conversation, that Chris himself added to the interview, and I simply stated my observation that PST is a highly regarded game by many gamers. Not all. Not majority. Many. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You state straight up: It looks more like you are saying, unequivically, that Planescape: Torment is one of the best games ever made. But hey, we're just having a discussion and I'm disagreeing (BTW, I loved PST).
  4. Citing your evidence as the people you talk to including it as one of their favourite games is hilarious, anywhere. You weren't just citing it as an opinion though, as indicated by the fact you tried to "support" your claims.
  5. No your not. It's just a convenient way for you to rationalize your piracy of console games. If you don't like console gaming and see it as the horrible blight that it is, then the games wouldn't even be worth your time. Clearly they are.....some "hardcore PC" gamer you are. You're doing no help to the PC gaming industry by pirating a console game. At best, you're helping no one...at worst you're hurting console gaming. And the love on with open source and the GPL has virtually no applicability in the gaming market. Pirating games as a "cause." What a joke.
  6. What exactly are you talking about? He (you?) was quick to defend PST from criticisms of its own creator. It was like MCA wasn't even allowed to see the game in a bad light. The "one of the best games of all time" argument was hilarious. Gromnir's point of homogeneity was spot on.

Too bad, usually the Cinderella stories make it to the playoffs before crumbling
  8. It might be. I have no idea. File sharing such as music transfers and whatnot is relatively prolific, and I'm sure some people have thought about the possibility of finding gaming software as well.
  9. For the record, my comments were based purely on a first impression based on what I was reading. I don't frequent the Codex. Though their reputation does precede them, which may have influenced me. I loved his argument for PST being one of the greatest games of all time. Reputation seems pretty justified to me
  10. I wonder if MCA wanted to drive Serge in the face for his manloving of PST. Serge wasn't even willing to accept MCA's criticisms for it, even though he made the damn thing.
  11. Don't forget the most important one. It's a HELL of a lot faster <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I didn't. The rate of travel is different was applying to the speed at which you can travel. Obviously not the best choice of words.
  12. Well you can walk if you like. But since you have an airship there isnt much point. The airship is very fast so you can fly around the world in under a minute. So while they are similiar, they are also poles appart. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, with your descriptions it sounds like the only real differences are the fact that it's an entire globe, and that the rate of travel is different.
  13. I'm basing my assertions completely on ShadowPaladin's descriptions. I have no idea what the travel (or any other part) of the game is like. The impression I had from his post was that the "World Map" of FFXII was a large open ended map with many places to explore. Outside of this aspect, I was not making any comparisons of FFXII and Oblivion because I am not informed (Oblivious? ") towards FFXII.
  14. I would still recommend Dragon Quest 8: Journey of the Cursed King. It's linear, but in a good way. You have a huge world to explore, by foot, boat, tiger or flying. The combat is really old school (no positioning) and you just take turns beating up on each other. The story is surprisingly well-written with a lovely twist at the end (or actually, both endings, because you get to play through a different ending after you've completed the game once.. a much more satisfying ending). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think people are overly critical of linearity.
  15. Not really because Baldurs gate was a series of maps linked by a static world map. The world map in the FF games I'm talking about is a big open map which wraps around (like flying around the world) and it's all done in real time. FFX and FFX-2 would be very similiar to how Baldurs gate works. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think this sounds more like a style of Oblivion than you'd like to admit. Or are you not actually walking on this map?
  16. Because this game has huge promise, that's why!

Ville was on the Calgary team that went to the finals. He's a huge pest as well. I too am very surprised with the Colorado trade.
  18. Well, I consider copyright infringement to be the theft of copyrighted Intellectual Property. I made sure to include those three words for that very reason. It might be a misnomer to use it, but not any more than equating copyright infringement with "stealing ideas."

If our team had had .910 goaltending this season, we'd have let in 50 fewer goals. I really hope he comes in and plays very well. To be honest I've been very happy with the other 5 positions. I'm very surprised with our defense, which I think just got stronger when we got Spacek and Tarnstrom. Our forward core is also doing quite well.
  20. Heh, old school! Well, not older than SS2 I guess. I remember finding that game quite freaky.
  21. It's one theory. Someone will come in and state that it's no problem to go and get their XBOX modded or whatever, but it's certainly much more inconvenient to do it on a console than on a PC. I bet the number of unmodded consoles goes way beyond the number of modded ones. Plus it's just a so much larger installed base, that even if the ratio of piraters was exactly the same, you'd still get more sales.
  22. He added a ton of neat events as well! Good times good times.
  23. cf. Call of Cthulu. Publishers don't give a **** about history. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Depends on the publisher. As meta said, it's about ROI, and an established fan base has higher probability of a sale compared to an unfamiliar market. The decision to go console only would be if they felt that the untapped market was so much more significant or the established market miniscule. Though IMO SS2 was one of the most pirated games of its time (my evidence coming from my friend who ran an old school FTP site), which would indeed hurt the PC sale numbers, despite the game's popularity.

I'm surprised, as injured players typically aren't traded. I guess this trade isn't pending a physical
