Poll on preferred party size
theBalthazar replied to Lanyon's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I strongly disagree the decision of reduce the number of members of party. Like you said, with the same argument, we can easily down the number to 4 in PoE 3 ? After all ? There will be less "mess", and it will be more readable in combat ? So it is problematic for me.

One Word - Multiclassing!
theBalthazar replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Hum.... I hope a good multi-class... It's ironical if it will always better to stay with a solo class, at the end. (for 100 % perform in each class) Be careful Obsidian, don't kill multi-class. Concept of "Good in neither of the two". With this idea I prefer stay with solo class and remain effective.

Stretch goal discussion!
theBalthazar replied to TheisEjsing's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)For me, it is not over-promise. But take more money and Propose more attractive goals stretch. (Even something that would not take too long overall) With money you can do everything. Take more time and refine the game OR focus on main Base material and strengthen it etc Exactly.

Stretch goal discussion!
theBalthazar replied to TheisEjsing's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)the infinite dungeon on 10 stretch goals~ (I don't remember) was a mistake. Indeed. I think stretch goals are more of "brewing idea". To see the differences with the first game, and add true and unique new contents. So : multiple ideas and not repetitive (what was the dungeon)

Stretch goal discussion!
theBalthazar replied to TheisEjsing's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)The purpose is : take as much money as possible. I prefer "dream" purpose. More hype and more money for the studio. Money use for create a better game. You understand ? It is more advantageous^^

Stretch goal discussion!
theBalthazar replied to TheisEjsing's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Humm... Bad goals stretch. Good for Italian players but the two last goals are... ...Not really good. For this price (400 000 $) Add : - Big Cities. - Classes. - Complete Audio dub. (English, French, German etc.) - More quest... etc. It is the problem with goal stretch, I suspect the first goals are "already planned and purely cosmetic " and last, a stopgap. Don't forget : Goal is also a encouragement for invest or pledge. The two last don't deal dream.

theBalthazar replied to jones092201's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)ammunition is a good thing IF there are infinite to use. Eg : A ranged weapon with a slot. On the slot we put an another item (Ammunition, bolt, arrow etc), with infinite uses.

Only five party members?
Team play is one of the most important reasons for wich I play pillars of eternity. Bad, bad news.

Stretch goal discussion!
theBalthazar replied to TheisEjsing's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Player AI scripting for companions added. (2m) For me it is a no-goal, certainly already planned. It is the same system than NWN 2 ? So, control all possibilities of automatic actions ? (puppet mode or AI script in short ?) Good thing for the Spanish.

Poll on preferred party size
theBalthazar replied to Lanyon's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)6 is always better. It is the strengh of the first game. An army to control. Tyranny is a false good idea because simplification (love by guys who wrote tests but not by true players) Increase pathfinding is a better approach.

One Word - Multiclassing!
theBalthazar replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)For multiclass it is ALSO "Number of overall classes" dependant. Because, if you have 20 classes + 10 prestigious classes, it is not a problem. But if you have 10 classes like first pillars, I think there is not possibilities to accept 4 classes. Because with 2 characters you cover nearly all the classes ! So, I think there will be a limit of 2 classes max by character. Don't forget also, fighting is question of successive action. (Finish as soon as possible the fight) So, cumulate all the spells is not very interresting if each classes work differently or there is necessity to place buff (priest oriented) or offensive spell (Wizard/druid oriented). During this time, you don't use your "barbarian part" (second class). Hope than multiclass may be more interresting than : Priest + Wizard for cover all the spells. And *choose a class physical oriented" + barbarian, for melee characters. It is subtle to balance.

Stretch goal discussion!
theBalthazar replied to TheisEjsing's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I hope a system for create customized character like the first. Because lot of double classes (max 2 at the end ?) appear to be locked.

Only five party members?
Or ... There is one or many "Shandra" character. (Nwn 2) = A character imposed for the STORY...? (Sixth character overall) So 1 main + 4 characters (can be custom) + 1 slot for scenario character ? It is interresting for mastering the scenario and create surprises.

Fully Voiced Characters
theBalthazar replied to Gairnulf's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)It is also an argument of "reinforce the atmosphere" in a game with -a lot- of text. Reinforces immersion. It is a fact. For Kotor 2, the french voice of Kreia is amazing. Without her, the game would be worse.

Fully Voiced Characters
theBalthazar replied to Gairnulf's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I think it is an amazing idea. A great plus. Audio English + French + Spanish (most common language of customers in the world), ever better. For the radiant of the game. BUT....^^ indeed, it is very expansive, so it must be an.... advanced stretch goal like ~5 millions.

$1 100 000 Reached!1
theBalthazar replied to kirottu's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)G. G. Obsidian ! I prophesy 5 millions. And Pillars of eternity 3 shows itself in background ! People like this series.

Stretch goal discussion!
theBalthazar replied to TheisEjsing's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)i hope a stretch goal for audio localisation : It's tactic for obsidian. For exemple, I am french. I take the game (localisation or not : p = I want to be Backer this time). BUT, for the casual of my country, or accustomed to mass effect with audio dubbing, its large loss. I hear a lot of people in comments of my community : there is too much text to read in this game. So, for digest this text and facilitate the approach, a stretch goal can increase the ease access of the title by others country (and make more money). An anti-capcom behavior (Ace attorney etc etc.)

Confirmed: Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
theBalthazar replied to Infinitron's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)One of my wish for Pillars is a customisation for spells. Like Tyranny but with eventually less possibilities to maintain the general congruence of spell (plus, because there is naturally more basic/nominative spells in pillars) A sort of mini-custom with two possibilities (=2 accents ~ ?), while maintaining the general essence of spells. Spells which had more personality in Pillars.

Confirmed: Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
theBalthazar replied to Infinitron's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I prefer 6 companions but wait and see in game. If the multi-class is of good quality, it is less problematic.

One Word - Multiclassing!
theBalthazar replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Personnaly, if I want play a role, I play on table. Here, it is a video-game. For me, pleasure of possibilities is more important than pseudo-logic. I'm rolist but when I was playing to NWN 2, I wanted a solid build. Like said higher, Josh will certainly proceed to a basic balancing for limit total abuse but it's globaly a cool and very GOOD^^ idea.

Confirmed: Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
theBalthazar replied to Infinitron's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)It's for that at the begining I was thinking : English - French - German - Spanish - Italian - Polish (textual) (Like PoE 1) English - French - German (Audio) But it's not very clear in the presentation text.
-
I know... but... please include Italian localization :D
theBalthazar replied to nifel87's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)In a game with this quantity of text ? It's problematic for left behind (Spanish, Italian and others...)...

One Word - Multiclassing!
theBalthazar replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I think, there is a lesson in Nwn 2 : it's -more or less- useless to equilibrate ! There is always a way to maxi-optimize. It is a pleasure for me to optimize my way to play with all the tools given by the developpers. So, by definition, for me the game will tend to be easier. And I claim it : it's absolutely normal for this kind of games.
