Stranger Than Fiction I thought it would be a lot funnier but it's more of a dramatic comedy than a Haha comedy. Will Ferrel shows some decent dramatic chops and Emma Thompson, as usual, is stellar. Suspension of disbelief is essentiel to enjoy the piece(we never know why Harrold Crick comes alive) but if one can do that it's a very enjoyable, feel good film. 8/10

Hmm. Strange questions. The hot Asian-American(actually, Grace Park is Asian-Canadian ) is a full Cylon, a #8 model to be exact. Each Cylon model has many, many copies. The #8 was first introduced as Sharon "Boomer" Valerii, a Raptor pilot "secretly" involved with Chief Tyrol. She is revealed as a Cylon at the very end of the miniseries. Her story arc is rather complex to explain here, not to mention the multiple spoilers it would reveal but what I can say is that by the end of Season 1 Boomer has both saved the entire fleet and almost destroyed it in one single very cool episode(the S1 finale) and by mid-season 2 Boomer, as we know her, is dead. The #8 in the "warzone", lets call her... Athena, is the "good" Cylon. Involved with Helo through lies and misleadings, she is eventually accepted in the fleet as a valuable intelligence tool in Season 2. She also brings forth a new era of sort but you'll just have to find out how by yourself. Now for Cylon downloading stuff... These are not "posessed" in any way. It is an actual download of consciousness into a new but identical body. There are many copies of #8 but it is believed each one has a different consciousness, different experiences, different lives. What is confusing is that Athena seems to remember things that Boomer did. This does not seem to be the case with #6 or #3, etc. So, when a Cylon body dies, the consciousness is downloaded into another body that is waiting in storage. That new body then rises from a tub of goo to continue the life of the previous body. The premise of the show is that the entire human race has been almost completely annihilated by the Cylons and the survivors are running for their lives in search for Earth, a mythical promised land. The humans are guided by religious scrolls, scriptures and prophecies that point to markers in the Galaxy, markers that show the way to Earth. The motivation of Cylons is simple. According to everyone, humans and Cylons alike, Everything has happened before and it will happen again. The Cylon believe they are playing their part in an ongoing story. Their job, according to them, is to wipe out human-kind. As simple as that. Another detail is that Cylons are monotheists and humans are polytheists. This also plays a role in the story. If you want to know more, I recommend watching every episode in order or check out the Battlestar Wiki.

Just when I thought the show was sinking into nothingness they completely redeem themselves with something like sunday's "Maelstrom" I mean wow! This is the kind of BSG I was used to and now it's back. It's about time! Oh and :'(

Another really good episode! What was the game Micah and Nikki/Jessica playing on a PS3(not bad for jobless people on the run)?

Battlestar Galactica Season 1 I needed to remind myself why I love this show so much after the last 3-4 episodes of Season 3... It worked. I really love this show!

Cool. I was hoping they would do that.

Hmm. I loved it. Hugo breaks his curse and Fugly's too. Rousseau is back and Kate is p1ssed. Not a sign from The Jack. Finally a break from that. A nice, relaxed, feel good episode with a 60's VW van and Cheech Marin. Whats not to like?

Report: Man dies after 'marathon' online session
astr0creep replied to Guard Dog's topic in Way Off-Topic
Before I had a girlfriend, on weekends I would get out of bed at around 8am(that's sleeping in for me...), turn on the PC and read some news while having breakfast. Around 9am I would start a game and I would play until dinner time(6-7pm). Then I would order food and play while waiting. When the delivery guy arrived he would see my screen and we'd have a little chat about the game I was playing. I'd watch a movie while I ate and after that I'd play until midnight or 1-2 am. Sundays were very similar but sometimes I'd go see a movie in a theater in the afternoon. I had no friends and my skin is still pasty white/greenish to this very day. -
Really? Were you a fan of Aftermath and Aftershock? I'm not a big fan of the whole real time combat, but I love the Xcom elements. Aftermath sucked. Aftershock was a gigantic improvement but it got very boring very fast. So far Afterlight actually plays more like KotOR. You PAUSE with SPACE and there are many options that allow you to pause the game when an enemy is spotted or when a team mate falls or for pretty much any kind of action you can possibly do in the game. You can turn off all these "feedbacks" in the options menu and play in full RT with the SPACE bar always available to issue commands. You can also control the passage of time with a slider ala Imperium Galactica 2. Graphics have a somewhat cartoony feel to them but are still nice(big guns, big heads, big hands and bright, contrasting spacy colors). Characters, enemies, buildings are bigger(comparing to Aftershock here) and you can zoom in very close or out very far till you can see the entire mission map. There is even a semi First person perspective that allows you to see better in certain areas. The world map is pretty much the same as other UFO games except that Mars is divided in large territories that you acquire with probes. If an enemy is present you can send a vehicle with troops to wipe them out and collect some loot for research and equipment. Once a territory is under your control you can build mines and other structures to gather fuel, chemicals and minerals. During battles your soldiers gain levels and training points which you can use to develop skills. Let say after a battle you have 5 TPs. The driving skill requires 4 TPs to acquire so you choose this. Then there is a training period after which the soldier can drive. Each skills belongs to one of three tech trees: Combat, Technology or Science and each soldier will perform better at these skills depending on their abilities like strength, intelligence, dexterity, speed, etc. I find the menus confusing. Many things can be either selected/confirmed or dragged and dropped and the Right Mouse Button menus add to this confusion. There's like 3 different ways to build a lab for example. On the world map itself you can access the research tab with two different buttons. One at the top and one on the side of the screen. Both buttons lead to the same screen... The "plans" feature is also confusing. A plan is basically an action in progress and you can apparently configure them but I have yet to figure out how exactly. I just point and click and when I want to change something I point and click somewhere else. But overall it's still a fun game. Not as good as X-COM(except for graphics) or Silent Storm though but if you need a half-decent X-COM fix(without actually playing X-COM) i'd say Afterlight is the way to go for now.

Ghostbusters 2 Has anyone ever noticed that they have the Ghostbusters 2 logo on their uniforms sleeve? I just thought it was... stupid. I mean what. They know they're in a sequel? What?

She's asking you to make such a big step but is unwilling to marry you? Wouldn't all those problems be solved by dumping her? I mean, what if you are able to move down there and she breaks up with you? Will you need 10k to get back into Canada? If she doesn't want to marry you, dump her. Besides, leaving Canada for the US is a big mistake.

lol! So it did misfire. Or was it a remote? Because of the smoke, I thought HRG was shot through when I first saw these images. Then my mind raced a bit and I thought... Maybe he has powers too! The power to shoot bullets out of his body! I think this is one of my best yet.

Taxidermy could prove to be your best friend for making a nice coin bank. When I was a kid I had a hollowed-out stuff squirrel as a coin bank. It would open up from a pop-out plastic cover on its butth0le. I didn't have a lot of girlfriend growing up... :'( This story is 95% true.

Ghostbusters: I never realized how much of a Bill Murray vehicle this movie is. That's not a bad thing though... The Mummy: I was sure to have seen this before but as I was watching I just couldn't remember anything. Getting old perhaps? :'(

It's a new episode. They showed a clip on Entertainment tonight. Ted goes nuts and seems to blow up Claire's house with everyone inside.

Wow. Ok. As an analogy, I usually compare the universe to a fire cracker. Big Bang=Original exposion Stars=Exploding debris from original explosion Planets=Debris from stars. Meh

Soon a big worm will come out of that hole trying to munch down on an escaping Millenium Falcon. Mark my words!

Yes. This episode blew more than Alan's game. But I liked Jack's reply to Isabel: "That's what it says, not what it means"

The blond chick is model #6, one particular individual #6 has a name, Caprica Six, named so because she is a Cylon hero of the Caprica campaign. Only one person(so far) can see and interact with her in his head and that is Baltar. Caprica Six also sees Baltar in her head. The phenomena of "Head Six/Head Baltar" has not yet been explained in the show but many speculate that it has something to do with the download of the Cylon consciousness and the radiation from a nuclear explosion that destroyed Baltar's home. He was shielded by his #6 and so survived but many say something happened to this #6's consciousness because of the radiation. If you don't yet know, Cylons look like humans now. They can't really die because when the body is destroyed, their consciousness is downloaded in another body of the same model, allowing them to live on. Only by destroying "Resurection Ships" can humans prevent Cylon downloading and kill them for good. Groovy, heh?
