  1. Do they still have those "shoot me here, I'm wearing forest camo in the desert" uniforms? If thats not an evil gov I don't know what is.
  2. "We"? I didn't know Canada sent soliders into Iraq. Besides, Canada don't do evil. Besides the occasional pop singer <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Canada, like the rest of the so-called "coalition", mops up after the US destroys everything. We still have people in Afghanistan trying to keep things together. Also, doing nothing in the evidence of evil is just as evil as doing it.
  3. The TV series was named Nikita here in Canadeh.
  4. Yeah, it actually got two patches. The second one was 200 MB and contained better allround physics, better drawing of graphics when you fly, better stability, engine optimizations (No more stutter for me! Yay!) and countless bugfixes. The second patch really made a game out of Boiling Point, because (as you already said) the game was released in such a horrid state it was barely playable. Everyone who likes open-ended games with lots of replayability and realtime FPS-style combat should take a serious look at Boiling Point. It sells for 99 SEK (~$13 US) now, at least in Sweden. It's also a very long game, unless you just rush through the main quest.. and even then it would still be much longer than Jade Empire. When I had completed my first run through (doing as many of the guerilla missions and government missions as I could) I had clocked somewhere between 80-100 hours. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I really enjoyed the setting of Boiling Point. Current times, South America, you play an old guy. Interestingly enough, the entire map of the game is loaded once and you are then free to roam around. I just got put off by the state it was released in. And the controls. I was working in a QA firm at the time and they were QAing the translations. I never tested it though but I did get a copy
  5. It's war, we are the bad guys so we must do evil things. Let the beatings continue!
  6. I played D1 on the PS1. I needed one memory card just for that save file. It took me a while to get into it but I was eventually hooked and I finished it in 2-3 seatings. Later I picked up the full D2 boxset and I played the hell out of it. I tried online but I got trolled really fast and that was it. One shot, one kill. Never played again. I am looking forward to a D3 but I hope they make the gameplay something more than just loot hunting. I preferred D2 over D1.
  7. Watched Wallace & Grommit : The Curse of the Were-Rabbit last night. Long title, good movie.
  8. I thought that was called Nikita. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The original title is Nikita. Somewhere along the way, the original's title changed to Lafemme Nikita in the States for some reason. Probably to make Americans feel smarter by forcing them to say a French word?
  9. Maybe they're making Battlefront 2 Expansion : Gungan Rebel (w00t)
  10. Well I've always loved turn-based a lot more than Realtime, both in RPGs and stratedy games. Those games are fun yet relaxing. When you come home from work after a 10 hour shift, running around at lightning speeds down corridors shooting at things that jump in your face or trying to group a bunch of tiny units into groups of long and short range attackers in order to counter a fast attack attempt from your enemy are not stress free fun ideas to me. I'm old. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree 100% Now, just a question. I'm just arrived now here. I'm trying to read all the posts in this topic (very intresting but it's impossible to read everything: more that 46 pages only here!): there will be a nr. III or not? thanx Ich7 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Go see the Obsidian General forum for that question. The answer could change soon however, as Obsidian has posted a job offer for a lead game designer for a starting RPG project. Speculators are screaming K3.
  11. I still have a few C.O.P.S. actions figures, including that cool Mafia style machine guntotting guy, Big Boss and the CHIPS guy too.
  12. I'm playing Galactic Civilization 1, Beyond Good and Evil and Freelancer. I need a new RPG real bad.
  13. Is boiling Point patched? I played the first release build and it was barely playable.

  15. No. SWG proved that SW mmo's suck. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm less inclined to make such conclusions based on such a small sample size. If there was a Star Wars MMO that really appealed to me, I'd probably get it. I wonder if they'd be better served focusing on the space aspect of the universe personally, and make an MMO more like Eve. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That would make a lot of sense. Space sims need a comeback. A Star Wars MMO Space sim would rock. Get in your ship, leave atmo, lightspeed to the next planet, land, get out of your ship... in real time! (w00t)
  16. TORN! That would be sweet. K3 would be diabetes inducing sweet.
  17. I agree with you for KOTOR. It's not meant to be a twitch fest. I would like however a better and faster way to select and use powers/items/mines/grenades. Now if we want to switch powers, we must pause or hold down the right mouse button and then click on little up/down arrow until we get what we want. And everytime a new fight starts in a new zone, it must be done all over again. Grr.
  18. It's not twitch if you can pause at will and issue commands. Master.
  19. You can have an almost fully real-time experience by going in the options and unchecking all those PAUSE triggers. The game will only pause if you hit SPACE. They could do that for K3. Imagine K3 built similar to Jedi Academy, or Outcast. When you have a gun equipped, you run around in first person. When an enemy is spotted, auto-pause kicks in and you choose a target. When you hit space, you always keep the same enemy targetted until its dead. When you shoot or are shot at, the D20 system kicks in to determine if you're hit and how much damage you receive. Same with lightsaber except you have real-time moves determined by the style and stance and it's then third person. When you target is killed, you hit the NEXT TARGET button until you find your desired prey, in real-time. Wouldn't THAT be sweet?
  20. that would be cool <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree with this also. Though, the PC should be a force user (for story signifiance and such). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> force sensitive <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can't people use the force without having to be a Jedi or Sith? (Knows nothing about SW) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, they can. They're called Force Adepts. Chodo Habat, the leader of the Ithorians on Citadel station at Telos, was one in K2. "Grey" jedi are still jedi, though, not Sith nor force adepts. They're just jedi who don't adhere strictly to the conventions of the jedi code. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So, if a person is a force adept yet chooses not to mass murder everything in sight, that automaticly makes them a "Grey" jedi? Sounds pretty stupid. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "Grey" refers to the alignment. Dark = Evil & Light = Good. You could be a dark force adept but not a Sith, because Sith is a title earned within the Sith Order.
  21. that would be cool <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree with this also. Though, the PC should be a force user (for story signifiance and such). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> force sensitive <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can't people use the force without having to be a Jedi or Sith? (Knows nothing about SW) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Technically they could. Jedi and Sith are titles, ranks within an order. You know, like Mensa. :D
  22. I misread then. Mea culpa. So what would you suggest? I would prefer beginning as a young jedi (level 1) with next to no force powers and no lightsaber. Once you advance to level 2, you would build your own lightsaber and then go from there. Basically I'd have an introduction that runs a little similar to Revan arriving on Dantooine in K1, only you would actually have a few encounters and maybe a fight or two. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> First, I would suggest that most of the game be in the unknown regions, facing the threat of the True Sith. Second, no Dantooine. Been there, done that. Third, PC starts off not sure if he/she is force sensitive but is discovered by a Master in the unknown regions early in the game. The Master is either Revan or Exile (who now has a name). The PC then undergoes his/her training as Padawan for either Revan or Exile. The catch is that in the unknown regions, there are no or very little lightsaber crystals so the player has a choice: He/she can go look for a lightsaber, or be a force using something else, with special perks for new classes dealing with this choice. It would be like a branching storyline, where either choice will lead to a common point later in the story, the PC acquiring the same amount of xp either way. But it would stay within the boundaries of introduction. The training is either in hunting lightsaber parts or gaining that special class of character. How's that for a start?
  23. to all your ideas. I agree, starting as a full fledged Jedi is a bad idea. However, becoming a Jedi before the first quarter of the game is essential. Thats why a longer game is a must. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I disagree. If you find that beginning as a jedi is bad due to K2, then I think you might be forgetting just how much people tend to dislike the entire Peragus section. That's because it was badly designed both playwise and plotwise, totally unlike K1, where you had to interact with people on Taris rather than fight endless hordes of droids. I see no reason why the game can't be just as exciting as even if you begin as a jedi. Besides, we know we'll walk the path of the jedi - Knights of the Old Republic is about jedi first and foremost, which is as it should be IMHO. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I said "full fledged" Jedi. Like starting as Revan or Exile or some other uber Jedi. Unless it's all conversations or puzzle solving with maybe 1 or 2 bosses. For the first introduction part. I still DO NOT want to spent half the game as a scoundrel and waste all those levels. Again, unless I get the option with some nifty perks to NOT be a Jedi.
  24. I really think death threats are against the forum rules. Also, being amazingly so off-topic... There are enough action/RPGs or Hack & Slash RPGs. Give us First-Person Shooter/RPG Hybrids like Morrowind but much more focused and varied. First-Person Arcanum (w00t)
