  1. What also makes sense is that the more you produce and sell, the lower your production costs are. So even if any manufacturer sells the first batch at a manufacturing loss, if their consumer research results are favorable they will sell it "cheap" anyway, knowing full well they will cover their costs in the long run. Also, I know that is more or less true that whatever we buy as consumers is at LEAST three times what it actually costs to make. They want to cover all the costs, they want 100% profit and then there are all the taxes and international fees, plus other "extras". That is on products that are already selling and have attained a decent "cruise speed". It is eventually the same for consoles. And they also make a large percentage of profits from games. So leaking a price tag months before it is released is just for building hype.
  2. Diablo 2's save feature was very cool. It added a great sense of survival, also eliminating the bad quicksave habit many of us have. I love to save whenever I want in PC games but it makes it all too easy.
  3. I look forward to a day when I don't have to manually save ever again, when a game's auto-save feature does more than just save at the start of a new section or before bosses. All I want is an auto-save that will work 1-5 seconds before I die in any game and 2- Upon quitting the game to go put my baby to sleep.
  4. Imo what takes more time with console developement is the QA, or at least it used to. Compared to PC games, console products are less buggy because there used to be no way to patch them. On PC you simply download the update so the devs can spend less time QAing the product. On console you also have certification that plays a large part in QA but that barely concerns actual bugs, it's more like standards. For example, the X button used to confirm selections or no constant vibration effect for more than 30 seconds. There are pages and pages of this stuff and it varies from one console to the other. Xbox for example is renown as a pain for QA while the GameCube is very easy. But yeah, KOTOR3 on XBox360 and PC. And I really hope they haven't started because I want to submit my game design darnit!
  5. What the.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok, a tear or two. :">
  6. They did the exact same thing with the PS2. 800$-1000$ starting price. It was released at half that. I'm not worried, they're just building hype.
  7. I wouldnt call Zelda complex though. And how much trash is there for each good PC game ? If anything it's the expansion of consoles and the former PC devs making games for the, that has led to the largest drop in quality of console games. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The best games have simple mechanics yet hard to finish. Example: the first Oddworld, Ico, Shadow of the Collossus. Easy to pick up, hard to play.
  8. Who are the Chiss? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Grand Admiral Thrawn's species according to Wikipedia.
  9. Those could be drawings of any muslim men. Why the carnage?
  10. Star Wars <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sacrilegious!
  11. It worked ok in NWN.
  12. Alright, Killiks are not the True Sith. And it's the same with the Chiss (Thrawn). They are both species with homeworld in the Unknown Regions so I am juggling with the idea of incorporating them in my story somehow. The Chiss would be cool. Anyway, back to research...
  13. Q: What are you when you go hunting with **** Cheney. Suck it Trebek! EDIT: the name D!(k is censored, come on now <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If only D. Cheney's "friend" had a security camera in his pants. *Sigh*
  14. I was doing some research for a KOTOR3 storyline. I am going with some minor exploration of the Unknown Regions in my story, including the search for Revan and Exile and the threat of the True Sith. On Wikipedia I came across the Killiks, a race of insects that could've first colonized Alderaan and left for the Unknown Regions thousands of years before the New Republic. Wikipedia does not have a lot of info on them and I was wondering if they could be the True Sith. Anybody know what I'm talking about?
  15. What do you mean by random encounters ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You are running in a field of flowers. The screen jumbles and you must fight 3 monsters. You beat them. You continue running, you make 5 steps, The screen jumbles and you must fight 3 monsters. You beat them. You continue running, you make 5 steps, The screen jumbles and you must fight 3 monsters. You beat them. You continue running, you make 5 steps, The screen jumbles and you must fight 3 monsters. You beat them. You continue running, you make 5 steps, The screen jumbles and you must fight 3 monsters. You beat them. You continue running, you make 5 steps, The screen jumbles and you must fight 3 monsters. You beat them but your health is low and you are low on potions. You continue running, toward a save point, you make 5 steps, The screen jumbles and you must fight 3 monsters. You beat them but your health is low and you are low on potions. You continue running, toward a save point, you make 5 steps, The screen jumbles and you must fight 3 monsters. You die. Random encounters.
  16. Random encounters.
  17. so you is saying that the first one sucked? HA! Good Fun! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> again, we wish to know if bulock is stating, for the record, that the first nwn sucked. am most curious. HA! Good Fun! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It didn't suck. It was a 60 hours string of fetching quests at the end of which timetravelling lizards threaten to rule the world once again under the leadership of a witch. :D The second expansion was very good.
  18. Once I lose track of the time slot other things tend to crop up. Of course it will inevitably be repeated anyway so I'm not that bothered realy. Bones is a bit like a "sexy" version of CSI. Having a sunday repeat slot makes it easy to catch. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Reruns and there are "other ways" as well.
  19. It's already run by organized crime. They all are, not just the US.
  20. You know those things you take out of fish or the hard part of the chicken you don't eat? Those are bones. I had too. I wish BSG was follow-up by new Firefly episodes. Tis a cruel and vengeful god. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Indeed. New Firefly would be great. Alas, it is dead. Thank you again Fox Network.
  21. If a series deserves a return it's Space Quest. Who has the rights?
  22. I haven't been so hooked on a show since X-Files and ST: TNG. Every BSG show is so full of action and compelling stories. All the characters are very well written (except Helo but I forgive on the count of his awesome callsign ). And almost every show ends with a cliffhanger. Before BSG only Smallville interested me and most of those episodes are excuses to plug products. What's Bones?
  23. Absolutely correct. Thank you for clearing that up. I confused anarchy and chaos. :">
