$1 100 000 Reached!1
Archaven replied to kirottu's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Min per share is $1000 right? -
Josh said also Persian, that's why u got that desert and palace. Well that Persian theme.. it does look like a little desert to me. Btw, anyone seen the first person view of that persian palace and tropical forest? Are they 3D assets? Have they gone fully 3D now? That would make close-up cutscenes possible? Or they were just for wallpaper? Also.. no romance mentioned :/. This was one of the feature i really hoped for. When i first play PoE i thought there were romances and was really looking forward with Pallegina.. and Obsidian shattered my dreams

PoE had 6 because nostalgia and IE purists. Devs say encounters would be more tactical and combat of better pace this time around, hence the 5 party members. Unless we see actual gameplay we can't say much more I suppose. I don't buy that reason. It seems to say 6 party characters game cant have better pace and out of a sudden 6 character became less tactical? . I would rather that dev be more frank rather than hiding something.

Turn based

Please NO. TB are way restrictive and actually limit options. Many game mechanics are taken out such as attack speed and that makes % chance to hit/stun useless. -
Well, my guess at this point is smaller encounter sizes. Others have suggested spell effects and pathfinding. We don't know much at this point, and I think it's jumping the gun to assume that a 5 member party=dumbed down action RPG. They'll release more news soon, so see then. It is "dumbed down" IMO. If i say they reduce it to 3.. or 2... counter argument still applies? Witcher 3 you are controlling 1 character too and it's not a "dumbed down" game at all. So with that logic.. are we to go with just 1 character party? Good fun.

I'm actually VERY unhappy about this too. I actually do not know about the existence of this thread and i made similar comments on a different one. Someone were commenting that the complexity and balancing are difficult for too many characters with multi-classing. Why BG2 does not have this issue? Why because it's a different ruleset? Possible. Then it probably means the current ruleset is actually much more simple and shallow? The other reason i can think of is they probably wanted 4 characters just like Tyranny. 4 characters work well with you know controllers. Many party-based RPG goes with 4. But Wasteland2 has 6 too. So on 2nd thought, this probably may not be the reason. But anyway.. although i may still back it but my hype went from 100% to 20%. Yeah i know some may think it doesn't make a difference but it does for me personally. So.. i guess i can have my own opinion.

I'm tremendously upset on this TBH. I don't think this is the real issue. I mean if BG2 don't have such issues, it shouldn't have with PoE2. If it does it probably means the rule system is kinda simplified or shallow. Shrinking it to 5 will never resembles the nostalgic feeling of old cRPG games for me personally. BG2 has multi-class too so i don't think that's the issue at all. I think they wanted 4 just like Tyranny. But this will even make people more upset so they up it to 5. The only logical reason i can think of.. could it be difficult make it works for controllers? I think mostly with the controllers you probably be just playing with 1 character and the rest with customisable AI? You only need to pause only on very tough battles. Basically in Dragon Age Inquisition, you can play a party based character without even pause. Just hack, hack, hack and spam spell/abilities with just focusing with 1 character. Also it could be a hassle to switch to more characters with limited buttons on a controller?. And if that's not the case then with more party characters i think it'll take up space too on the screen if playing with a big TV. So having less characters could actually help on big screen, IMO.

They should! It's been 4+ years! True enough! Some sequels don't make graphical enhancements, so I wasn't sure if it was just my eyes deceiving me. The visuals were pretty great if you asked me.. just that the awkward character animations.. i hope they can have new character movements, animations, positions, etc. this time around.

I STRONGLY disagree with smaller party size. You can go on restrict yourself TBH.. You can even go solo!. No point in restricting others simply because of your preference. But i do STRONGLY agree lesser thrash mob but MORE challenging combat with tactical variety. Not artificial difficulty by upping the monsters HP, resists, etc.

3 returning characters .. i hope we have more new and original ones please! ... And please Obsidian.. Improve the awkward character animation already! also.. screenshots looks so lovely.. but.. if you add in the fog of war.. not so much then. so i hope they can make a bigger vision field.. i sincerely thinks that the fog of war really destroy the lovely background

Be aware of Fig and especially Inxile. They did not fulfill their pledge on Italian localization as they gave a middle finger to the backers. Those who help crowd-funded them (there's no console version being mentioned in the Kickstarter at all) but then out of nowhere consoles version! and PC version delay for many months with no communications to the backers. And that's not all.. read many complaints about those who backed the Collectors Edition paid $125 or something.. and now the consoles version which basical $80+ (cheaper) and even comes with exclusives statues, locket, etc. that will not be available for those backers. Ok it doesnt matter if it's not given to the backers as InXile fulfill and deliver all the contents of the original CE. But holy cow! They are exclusives and you cannot purchase it!. facepalm.. So moral of the story.. If Obsidian side with InXile.. this really does not bodes well. I'm skeptical about this. But i love Obsidian.. I may be pledging too (even if it's Fig).. but you loose some brownie points. Basically i'm not from the US and i have to pay 5 times the currency in my country just to support Obsidian. So dont screw me up please.

WL3 was on Fig. It's different than KS if i'm not mistaken. If it gets sold x amount of copies then the game will be free to the backers or something if i'm not mistaken. As for Brian, i'm really not so comfortable personally on how he has treated the Numenera backers. Read some complaints about (it was not originally planned for consoles) and the games get delayed for no explanations and also not meeting some stretch goals. Also originally PST is RTwP. They changed it to fully TB and personally i don't quite like it though. I have played WL2 though it was great on PC and the UI looks good. Not quite sure how WL3 will turn out after looking at Numenera.

Let's not go down that rabbit hole again Imo, Edér, Aloth, and Pallegina are the three characters from PoE who, based on their personal quests and stories, make the most sense as potential comebacks in PoE 2—and I think it's a good idea to have a mix of familiar faces/fan favorites and new characters. Some of the characters in PoE were fun, but they told whatever story they had to tell and that's it; we need something fresh. Then again, it's good to bring back some characters from PoE to establish a sense of familiarity and consolidate them as known personalities in the lore of the setting. Yes i agree with this. I mentioned i don't mind 1-2. But 3 are too many. They can bring them back but not necessary they must join you as companion. Everyone would like their favorite character to return as playable character too. If that's the case might as well bring back the whole team and add another 1-2 new characters? If that's the case we don't need PoE2. DLC3 sounds more like it. I personally like more new characters than bringing back old ones and adding new story to existing ones. Of course this is personal preference.

I'm with you on this. I don't mind 1-2 key companions to be back with you. The rest as cameos where you can chat with them in some locations but not as companion. I'd like new faces with new interesting personality and maybe love interest? Yah i know many people hate this.. i have no idea why. I personally love the love interest in Baldur's Gate. So why not in PoE2?
