Level Cap...
Boeroer replied to Aegir1973man's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Base game: 12 With White March 1 installed: 14 With White March 2 installed: 16 Expansions blend into the main game. You will also be able to level up to 16 even if you don't do White March content and leave it for the end (not recommended). There are upscaling dialogues because with those new level caps some areas become way too easy with lvl 14 to 16. Edit: Ninjaman got me! -
Hi. Nice mod. The things I know of that have the "wrong" order of damage types are Curoc's Brand, Durance's Staff as well as Prestidigitator's and Minor Missiles (crush/corrode). Can't say if there are more though. Torches maybe? I really dislike it that Durance's Staff is crush/burn instead of burn/crush. There aren't a lot of nice staffs in the game anyway and this would make quarterstaffs a bit more interesting. About Justice: it has two crushing lashes as far as I can tell from testing. The 10% lash will often be eaten up by DR and you don't see it then in the log. But if you have somebody with high dmg mods and crit potential like a rogue or a cipher for example, you can witness it quite often. 10% lash is really weak though. In order to get past 12 crush DR you'd have to deal 35 pierce or slash with your initial roll - and then only 1 point of the 10% crushing lash would make it through while the 25% lash will deal 6. So - it's great against foes with low DR (esp. crush) and bad against high DR. Torches have the same mechanic, but with a burning "mini" lash. You can put another lash on them and then they also have two lashes. Due to the lower base damage of torches the mini lash gets eaten up by DR most of the time. Here one can see why single higher lashes are much better than multiple lower ones. And why it can be better to take Scion of Flame only in order to boost a burning lash on your weapon from 25 to 30% rather than having a 10% + 25% lash - and also better than to take Savage Attack or Apprentice's Sneak Attack or other low base-damage mods in some cases.

Yes - I really hate it that you will eat disengagement attacks even if you don't turn away but just circle around. That implementation is bad. It would have been easy to determine the vector of your movement and then process if you're really trying to move away or if you're just trying get around somebody. Hell - you even get disengagement attacks if you move straigt in sometimes. Very stupid against ogres for example. -
By the way: Google Translator translates to Hawaiian and also Samoan, Maori and other polynesian languagen. Teeth for example is "niho" (Hawaiian and Maori). "Jaw full of teeth" = "ā piha o nā niho". Gotta love that language.

As I said: I can see FoD working ok-ish with Sabra Marie. And that bow would fit a paladin with Munacra Arret and Ring of Changing Heart (look at Counselor Ploi build). Maybe also add Enigma's Charm. A charming and confusing paladin can be very useful. And with Sabra Marie you wouldn't need so many per rest uses of Munacra Arret to mind control enemies. Before that I can see that Borresaine could be useful with Zealous Focus + Sworn Enemy + FoD (+41 accuracy). Not because of the damage, but to guarantee an initial stun. If you're shooting fast enough (maybe take Outlander's Frenzy) the next arrow will stun as well without FoD - deflection will be gimped by 30 because of the stun. So, with Sworn Enemy + FoD you could ensure stunlocking a single enemy and do bonus damage. Could be cool. This can disable dangerous guys pretty quickly without using per rest resources. And you will have that quite early in the game, too. I would try it...

Nice! But why don't you flank more often? Afraid of disengagement attacks (catching those while circling an opponent is really stupid I must admit)? -
What would be the name of the Matschampaddel? "Chicken Splitter"? No seriously... I have another idea for an enchantment: since those swords were also used during bloody rituals and sacrifices this sword could also have such a sinister history. Maybe it was created and wielded by a powerful Huana Shaman of some sect or whatever. It could give then wielder Blood Thirst: after a kill you'll skip recovery. It would basically give you the barbarian ability.

For Flames of Devotion (and also Runner's Wounding Shot) you want a weapon with very high damage per hit - like an arquebus or arbalest for example. It's a waste to use FoD with a war bow in my opinion. And FoD (and Runner's Wounding Shot) is everything a ranged paladin can bring to the table when it comes do damage (except maybe Zealous Focus). If you max DEX and take Gunner and don't wear thick armor then recovery + reloading an arbalest doesn't take too long and it works well with FoD. A unique arbalest with speed comes very early (Hold-Wall, smith in Gilded Vale). Arbalests cause prone on crit - and with Sworn Enemy, Zealous Focus and FoD you will crit (most of the time). It's very nice in the early game and keeps being nice later on when you find Aedrin's Wrecker. You can also use arquebuses since they are in the same weapon group. Pliambo per Casitas has Marking which will stack with paladin's Coordinated Attacks - which will give an ally +20 stackable accuracy. Kill-shots are easy with an arbalest/arquebus in order to trigger Strange Mercy. So, for me no war bows on a paladin. Except if you want to skip FoD or if you want to use weapon switching. Another exception would be Sabra Marie since it's annihilating - that would do proper damage with a crit + FoD or Runner's Wounding Shot if you also add Doemenel's Merciless Hand, Dungeon Delver and Azalin's Helmet (= +150% base damage on crit + target gets confused). About stats: I'd dump CON and RES, max out MIG, DEX and PER, rest is INT. Abilities and talents would be Zealous Focus, Sworn Enemy, Flames of Devotion, Intense Flames, Inspiring Triumph, Sword & Shepherd, Strange Mercy, Coordinated Attacks, Abjuration (can trigger Strange Mercy with one click), Scion of Flame, WF Soldier, Gunner, Marksman, Runner's Wounding Shot, Lay on Hands, Sacred Immolation. You could also think about Envenomed Strike. It's nice with good MIG and INT and the paladin doesn't have any other special attacks. Don't know if it fits a Kind Wayfarer though.

It really looks like it should have the wounding enchantment. Or something like the Excecutioner's Hood which has a frightening aura. What about frighten on crit? "Uuhha! That's a nasty, nasty wound!" I would not be opposed to the idea that it also has some kind of drawback. Some ideas: - converts some hits to grazes (maybe glances off more easily) - accuracy malus Other weapon ideas are still welcome. At some point we should collect all ideas and make a poll...

It would do pierce/slash/crush/saw damage. But honestly: a weapon which would do pierce/slash/crush would actually be pretty powerful - without the noobs noticing.

It's basically a wooden club (crush) with sharp stone edges (slash). So slash/crush seems to be plausible. That doesn't say anything about how long it would last in a "real" fight. But if you are concerned that it breaks on usage you shouldn't consider it in the first place. But since items in PoE don't need repair and don't deteriorate at all I would just skip those concerns and concentrate on coolness.

But I can't decide which spells are used - this makes it very quirky. Same with buffing - for example Devotions. Healing works quite well because the trigger is clear, but I can't tell the priest to always use Devotions at the start of the encounter. So maybe I would only take companions which are not spell related. Builds which work quite well with no micro are monks with focus on retaliation (Fire Godlike, Turning Wheel, Lightning Strikes, Blood Testament, Rooting Pain, retaliation gear) and also barbarians with the same approach (Fire Godlike, Blooded, One Stands Alone, Vengeful Defeat, Barbaric Retaliation, retaliation). They need no micro whatsoever and still deal good damage. Maybe Zahua and Mahena would also be good with this approach although they lack Battle Forged. If Long Pain gets casted by AI I would totally go for that because the resulting auto attacks are very powerful and need no additional wounds while working great at range and in melee. Maneha with Frenzy + Bloodlust + Blood Thirst + Hours of St. Rumbalt or Tall Grass can also be valuable in bounties at higher levels. The carnage-CC as passive and works quite well if you're fast enough. Or with a single CC weapon like Cladhaliath... Devil of Caroc is nice as auto-attacker with Godansthunyr or We Toki + Badgradr's Barricade and the Binding Rope. She will get Deathblows a lot because she will deliver the afflictions by herself passively (stun/prone + stuck) and will be sturdy enough with the shield. ToTV will use Deathblows, too. Maybe even Riposte is worthwhile. Applying Deep Wounds via retaliation may also be a good idea as a bonus. Edér with dual wielding or two hander + Sanguine Plate + Swaddling Sheet + Shod-in-Faith (although his INT is only 10) may also be viable. I never use Overbearing Guard but maybe with a two hander like Tidefall it's cool to prevent enemies from running around too much? I would skip everything too squishy. Sagani with Stormcaller for example is nice, but once she gets targeted it's quickly over. Do ciphers cast Mind Control on immune enemies if controlled by AI?

In this video it's explained why obsidian makes sharper edges than metal can: https://youtu.be/2C6_pSEPbO8?t=281 But while OBS is very sharp when chipped porperly it's also very brittle. So if one could solve those issues (infuse with aweseome essence for the win) it could indeed be a very fearsome weapon.

By the way: the Hawaiian/Polynesian (even more like Huana) variant of that is named "Leiomano". It's basically the same weapon, but instead of stones they used shark theeth.

That Multlutlicl (blazing aztech names, I swear ) weapon does slash/crush damage obviously. Could also considered to be a mace or morning star. Depends on the final shape and dimensions I guess. Best idea so far in my opinion. Just needs some backstory why the BIB have it. And another thing: may be that we see those weapons all the time on Huana warriors. Could be that OBS had the same idea and give them sonte weapons with adra, flint and obsidian (I mean in "Deadfire" Archipelago there should be plenty of vulcanos and therefore also obsidian) - then our Mutchupitchulatlprattl wouldn't be so unique anymore. Hm...
