Gromnir is right. Those solo videos just shows the game rules being exploited in a way that was never intended. Which is why limited use items always are very problemtic for game balance. But people keep insisting on make games with a ton potions, food, scrolls and other consumables...leading to a complete break down of all game balance It is also terrible storytelling to see a hero eat 7 dishes of food before fighting a dragon. Reading lots of scrolls in a fight, drinking many potions. Just imagine a heavy weight fighter in a title bout visiting 7 restaurants before and drinking colas throughout a round and reading magazines. What a complete joke Serious or trolling? I don't know of any game that doesn't rely on the same, if not very similar mechanics. Only exceptions are games that don't even resemble a RPG.

Heh... The only thing I see is you don't have any arguments and you keep answering beside the point. It's irrelevant if my videos had or not an impact... It's irrelevant if people consider soloing meaningful... It's irrelevant if other classes are also able to solo the dragon... The only relevant thing is the paladin was and still is able to stay toe to toe with the strongest enemies and slay them, something that other classes aren't able to do for a reason that keeps eluding you. Even though I really agree with many of Gromnir's opinions I totally see Kaylon's point here. The latest Adra/Alpine solos have not happened due to any cheesy exploits but simple buffing up a paladin via potions and then meleeing the **** outta them. Only the paladin could ever do that in a manner that you only can call superior to other classes.

Hard to answer your question correctly cause not sure if I understand it right. If your main question is, hwether a fighter can tank on his own, then the answer is: With a full party to back him up, if you take the right talents and items, yes a fighter can easily tank on his own. Though if I try to interpret your post a little further, I can't help to ask if you really wanted to know if it's better to have an offtank and I can assure you it is. As to your other question about magical and physical damage: There is NO magical resistant enemies in this game, the way resistances work only immunities fully protect an enemy from something and those are only centered on a damage type like pierce or cold and not generally on magic or physical.

It's strong but I think it's ok. First of all it's a level 15 ability, but my main reason for liking this ability is, it makes playing a tank more accessible for everyone, amny people have problems protecting their squishies and if I fight the monks in WM2 I had to use super cheesy tactics to keep my 3 con 3 res cipher alive which also resulted in me not having acces to the ciphers damage for the first half of the fight. If I had mindweb they probably wouldn't even have gone for the cipher and if they did it would have been Echo and bye. I never have this problem fighting other mobs but I have read so often how people struggle with this, so I think it's a great addition to the game.

Not saying you can't beat a dragon with 3 chanters, since you can beat him with 1, but if you switch to another chant you lose survivability. A mindweb party has 3x paladin defense. The paladin could already beat the dragon on it's own, but specifically the cipher makes a huge difference here, it's basically 1x or a maximum of 2x disintegrates and the dragon is dead.

So guys I decided to make a testrun today with the chanter. Got level 4 - bear, Raedric, Aufra still open and decided to have a look at Caed Nua. I have to say this is not for me. Too tedious. Also very difficult, but what mainly makes it not for me is the tediousness. Big respect to y'all who are continuing this and BIG thumps up for Reent for being op very soon. :D

Yes you do need to know how your skills work in a game like this. If your gf hardly plays any video games I don't think she is a good comparison to other players who play a CRPG. Normally those kind of players play something more casual if they ever play a game. If your party needed to be level 16 that's not a real concern, since the Alpine Dragon is one of the toughest single enemies in the game. It is however significantly easier on hard, believe me or don't it has -15 on both accuracy and defenses which is an immensely huge deal.

For people who usually play PotD the difference is huge. If i were to put number on the difficulty settings: Story 10 Easy 100 Normal 115 Hard 130 POTD 160 As said alpine dragon is the same on easy, normal, hard which makes those difficulty settings much closer to eachother than one thinks. Storytime is incredibly easy. The difference between easy and storytime is bigger than between easy and POTD!! I never understood why you would need storytime since there is easy already. Let's be real even on hard the Alpine Dragon is not that bad. And on easy especially the Adra dragon becomes a cake walk because less (no?) Adragans.

Not all classes need to abuse massive cheese. Paladin for example pretty much tanks everything I would not consider that cheese. Strongholdwise you can't really get the quest items since you would have to take a companion for that. I always build my botanic garden and the other thing where you get creture parts in your treasury first and after that I focus on prestige so Azurro appears. If your security is very high you can autoresolve conflicts I personally just go there and kill the invaders, you also have hirelings who help you, but they are not very effective and die against everything starting from mercenaries. (Even thughs give them a hard time and don't get me started on banshees and drakes. :D)

Cipher is a lot of fun solo. I cry everytime I can't use an ability but still one of the most viable solo classes. As to on crit prone effects: The crit triggers a 2nd attack which can be deflected but it targets a different defense I believe for prone it's fortitude. There also might be an accuraccy bonus on that effect I'm not sure. For people who usually play PotD the difference is huge.
