Of course, it is an indicator. (Power)Builders who posted builds there understand, unlike people voting in this poll, what is powerful and whatnot. How is Wizard, who has x times more actives(spells) to choose from than Monk, self-evident but other (multi)classes are not? Oh other (multi)classes are not self-evident because they are based around gear Wizard does not benefit from.

Ok well, I am gonna wait for youtube TCS PotD playthrough with Wizard the strongest class to learn. wtf *---- edit: now I am a little bit annoyed, a little bit ... how the **** do you explain there is no single build for Wizard in the build section? Oh perhaps because it's so strong it does not need build. Ok

I don't care for broken combos, I don't care for Empowering spells and I don't care for Wizard buffing martial multi-class. I understand and agree with what you say but I don't understand how Wizard is the strongest. It has terrible passives, it has terrible subclasses, it has PEN and ACC, unlike weapons users who can grab a weapon with PEN and ACC, level dependent. Because it can Empower Meteor Shower? Well, then I guess its the strongest. Great, design.

Does anyone care to speculate, beyond the quoted post, why Wizards are most popular in the poll? I am asking because I do not get it and perhaps I play them wrong. Well I answered Wizard. Some reasons I have for this is: Compared to the other caster classes: you have 2 extra spell for every power level for free thanks to Grimoires. The other caster classes only get 1. I can't remember a single power level from wizard tree that was absolutely subpar. I think both priest and druids have such power levels, but I'm not too bothered to check up on that. Generally a very good spread of AoE-nukes, singletarget-nukes and best CC in the game (both AoE and single target). Then there is the equipment: Grimoire of Vaporous Wizardry is stupid. Wizards are very versatile in the roles they can fill and specialise in -> good multiclass potential. Extremely good PL IX-X abilities, meaning single class isn't out of the consideration. And while in some ways there was a bit of an effort in Deadfire to make the Caster/non-Caster class discrepancy smaller, 2x casts/spell level means you can be constantly casting, if you have something worthwhile to cast. And a Wizards do. You can pick a situational or generic-use spells. and use what you need. That's my take on it at least. Thanks. My question was not asking about multi-classing and Priest/Druid comparison. What do you cast around level 10? I can cast: I. 2 Chill Fogs with PEN 6.3 and ACC 58 II. 2 buffs? III. 2 Fireballs with PEN 7 and 37-48 damage ACC 58 or buffs IV. CC, buff and debuff V. Malignant Cloud with 11.5 sec duration ACC 58, 15 - 23 Raw per 3 sec or Terror debuff or Blast of Frost with 9.5 PEN 62-99 damage ACC 58 VI. finally, some picks with decent damage but ACC 58 so if it misses too bad If I take sword and buff myself I can do more damage than casting spells. PL IX-X .. I don't care about that, that's when I end the game. What do I cast before getting there?

In practice I do not know, do not have data. Personally, +25% lash is not worth the "bother" (resource, cast, duration) for me. +25% does not decide encounters so to say, it is not significant in my understanding, and in case of Firebrand, Fire/Pierce damage type, it's situational. From what I gather from this thread is that it's not +25% lash that makes it let's say interesting, but synergies with passives, items, and classes. And I am not even making a comparison to Legendary uniques with various bonuses and which are Legendary (PEN/Damage) regardless of level. To use it for flavor sure, it's not going to make or break the game, but "to build around" it to make it worthwhile does not sound to me like very useful.

The internet is great as it allows for interactions never possible before As someone noted before, the fact that Obsidian is virtually the only developer who recently attempted BG2, I would say, true "spiritual successor" is a blessing and a curse. There are no other "spiritual successors" to be compared with and no matter what they do, they will not be able to re-create BG2 experience for some. What probably bothers me most about PoE are inconsistencies, constant changes, and unclear ruleset. Complexity does not necessarily add to fun experience. btw Edwin was the best BG2 character.

Even the description states: Great-sword, Two-handed. It has all properties of a weapon. I understand it cannot be different because else the game mechanic could not treat it as a weapon in combat but that is the point, its a weapon. Effect of heating up solid steel is liquid steel. What is important here, with regards to interactions with other objects, is not that "it's still steel", but whether its liquid or solid. --- edit: well, you can all agree but it does not make your argument consistent

That wasn't really the point. How did you determine that? Disregarding that it's in let's say the nature of humans to make comparisons - we constantly evaluate and compare which very useful to our knowledge and ability to make decisions -, thus displaying let's say amazement over humans making comparisons seems naive, which is just obvious, pointing out that "meaningless" is term without meaning is right on the point. I mean, what is not meaningless? Oh meaningless is what I do not think is meaningless, right? Right. The point wasn't that all comparison or opinion and thinking was bad or meaningless. It was questioning why we *rank * things like this. And I think that's a valid criticism. You could compare and contrast these two games without arguing about how one is "objectively" or subjectively better than the other. And usually, the only reason people make threads like this is to complain about how a game doesn't reach their expectations or put a game down. Again, I can relate to that feeling (though I don't feel that way here), but I think it's kind of disingenuous to act otherwise. It is obvious that the only objective measure when it comes to art are sales. Only sales can be measured. Well, maybe voting on Metacritic or IMDb. I explained "why we rank". Because that is what we do. For more: Social Comparison Theory.

If a summoned weapon is not superior by a substantial margin to "physical" weapons available, it's not rational to use it as: 1. requires resource investment 2. needs to be summoned 3. has a duration. And I repeat, if a summoned weapon benefits from feature affecting spells, its straightforward inconsistency.

What they hope to accomplish consciously? We would have to ask them and we would get anecdotes, post hoc anecdotes. Regardless of what we want to accomplish, interaction essential for us as social beings. What do we want to accomplish when we talk about the weather? Interact. Then someone says, warm weather is better than cold weather and .. here we are. This thread is about exchanging ideas, opinions, and arguments from where I sit. That it got a bit personal, well, apparently it's not a meaningless discussion to some I would post more on topic but I cant answer the question asked in OP.
