  1. Sounds like you didn't choose the right path through the +2 rep conversation. If you still have a save before the convo, you could go back and try again (or use the Unity mod to cheat and set his romance flag anyway ). But keep in mind that the Aloth romance, like Aloth, is very restrained and low key. If Tekehu is more your idea of fun, definitely go for Tekehu - you're liable to be disappointed in how the Aloth romance develops. I have the console mod, been using it for a long time. where do you see the ability to set the romance flag? I must be blind. also.... is this the conversation you mean? because if it is, I have never gotten that conversation. not after I finished his quest, not after several rep boosts after that even. hmm, maybe if I set his reputation LOWER than 2, change areas, then reset it higher than 2 now that I have done his quest, it will trigger? *shrug* sooooo many little bugs in this game. just like PoE 1. When will I learn. never play an Obsidian game until 6 months after release, at least.
  2. yeah, I set up this playthrough with the idea of an Aloth romance, even installed the mod that was supposed to make it more fun. result? did everything right, finished his quest, got his rep up to 2, and... no romance trigger. So sorry I turned down fishboy now. he would have been a lot more fun.
  3. Was anybody else entirely underwhelmed by Captain Henqua's treasure? had about 14cp worth of coins... a few gems, and one "meh" unique armor. I got better stuff from random bounties and just doing the quests on neketaka, and more cash pickpocketing 3 random people. quite disappointing considering. my suggestion: 10,000 cp worth of coins, minimum. 3 of each kind of rare gem, minimum. 2 random uniques, minimum because as it is, you get far better stuff from the bounties themselves... which makes the treasure a total letdown.
  4. ...oh, also? when I talk to him ON my ship, he still has the same dialogue he did while he was at the valian trading company. he's pretty broken.
  5. that imp is surprisingly good in boarding combats. he's a tad squishy, but also hard to hit, and has some decent spells. .... for those that play using Nemnok as a pet... what's it like basically tossing the entire engagement system in combat?
  6. you can use the console mod over on nexus mods to individually adjust the experience of each party member. among many, many other things. I've used it to totally make custom classes for companions (my Serafen is an assassin/beguiler for example), and fix bugs on items and buggy effects on characters. I highly recommend it. just google for Pillar of eternity 2 console mod nexus
  7. It took 4 major patches and 6 months after release to finally iron out all the major and most of the minor bugs in PoE 1. then they introduced the final DLCs... and that took another 2 major patches, and STILL I ran into areas that failed to load textures for example. that was when I stopped. was almost done with the white march DLC, just about ready to finish that and go on to the final encounter with Thaos. never finished. hopefully, since this is a smaller game, they will do better with patches this go-round. I will say... they DID try. I'll give them that.
  8. sorry, but someone spouting misinformation out of ignorance can actually CAUSE DAMAGE. I've seen it happen. it's not just a matter of opinion like "I like vanilla and you like chocolate" moderation that allows misinformation to continue is bad moderation. that latter is an opinion, the former is fact.
  9. it happens in half of my combats, no matter the map, even ship to ship combats. what works for me is to save before combat, if it happens, then quit the game completely and reload that save. same bug PoE 1 had on release. smh.
  10. Did the contract quest for the Huana standing outside the Valian Trading company, by intimidating Luca. I came back sometime later and talked to Luca, to find his career ruined. so I offered him a job as a swabby on my ship (nice touch, btw!). while he accepted, unlike most other crew, the game did not give the little text notification that he was now available as crew, and he didn't walk off, so I talked to him again, and got the same dialogue lines, and chose a different answer this time, which also got him to join my crew... with the result that now Luca... and his clone brother have both joined my crew (yes, there are 2 Lucas on my ship). something obviously broken there
  11. I had that level of insight when I first talked to konstanten. did get the option to get him to join me.
  12. After you finish the "Lost Dues in Good Faith" quest, go back to the upper floor of the Wild Mare and tell Aenalys that you saved Oswald (er, assuming you DID save Oswald). There will be new dialogue options, and she will tell you some secrets about Konstanten (dwarf at the end of the hall on same floor). now, go talk to Konstanten, and ask him if he is bored. You should get the option of grabbing him as a sidekick. many will have figured that part out already, but... did you also go back and check out the rooms to rent with the owner downstairs? if you grabbed konstanten, his room will be up for daily rent as a rest space. bonus: +3 dexterity, 30% chance to reflect spells. not bad.
  13. use the nvidia control panel to force it to use your gpu. simple. except.... five bucks says it won't help, because it IS using your GPU and it's just very very poorly programmed, exactly like the first PoE was. but, if I'm wrong... just using the nvida control panel custom program settings should fix it. or, if you aren't using your built in gpu, you could simply turn it off in your cmos settings. I turned mine off years ago. doesn't cause any problems.
  14. aha! I have it. it is tied to items that cast certain spells when you get crit hit. the belt casts "Fathom's redress", and I had another item that cast "boil over". both of those enchants play a sound effect when you equip the items, and I suspect play the sound effect again when the script checking for conditions is restarted. to test, I removed "Fathom's redress" from the Ngati belt, but kept wearing the item with "boil over". result: still get the sound effect playing every minute or so when entering a new area. then, I removed the "boil over" from the other item and.... no more crashing sound effect. so the repeating sound effect is for sure tied to spell effects on items that have a sound effect when you equip the item. now it will be easy to track down. and, you can fix items yourself easily by modding, or even easier by using this: https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/2 to modify an item, remove it and place it in your personal or stash inventory, rt-click on the item with the console menu active, and click the button for "item inspector". then it will list all the effects currently on the item you are looking at. press the "-" button next to any effect you want to remove. press the "+" button next to "mods" and a list will pop up on the left side of your screen with every effect you can possibly add to that item. so, you can entirely customize your items to fit your character, and at the same time, remove effects that are currently buggy. I've had a ton of fun with it, and already repaired at least a dozen minor bugs. fair warning... you can add in your own buggy effects. make sure you pay attention to what the effects are doing and if they are working correctly after you add them. -do not add pet effects to items, bad bad mojo (though you can add effects to pets; they are really just another item with special properties). -do not add character effects (effects that are normally bound to a character instead of an item) to an item. -do not repeat the same effect on the same item. -if you put an effect on an item... and the effect remains AFTER you remove the item... remove the item, remove the effect, and put the item back on. you might need to rest to clear the effect. other than that... go wild. lots of great themes you can build on items. lots of effects have a corrode theme, lots have fire themes, chanter themes, etc. you can build a really fun and thematic set of items for your characters. it's quite fun.
  15. There are plenty of defensive spells in the illusion and enchantment schools to make aloth near untouchable, even if you make him an evoker instead of no subclass. almost all of them are quick casting, and many are zero recovery. you won't have a problem making him defensive enough so you can run into the middle of a group and nuke them. with high int, those spells will last a while too. plus, there are plenty of excellent potions in the game that can add to your armor and defenses. there's no trick to this, it will be obvious as you start to play the game which spells to use and which potions to use.
  16. you mean, because there is a dedicated thread for beta patch bugs? I'm going to ignore the "install at your own risk" BS.
  17. as a sidenote, once the bugs are mostly ironed out with the automated action system... it is so complicated (not a complaint) that there really should be a video tutorial on how to design the proper command structure to get your character to do what you want them to. again, the options are hugely detailed, which is nice, but the learning curve on using them is wayyyy too steep. should be a video tutorial, with several completely different examples from ranged attackers, to priests, to wizards, to melee. I spent an hour trying to figure it out and finally just ended up turning it off completely and going back to full micromanagement.
  18. so... exactly like what happened with the first PoE then. you know.. I never actually finished the game because every time I restarted and got 20 0r 30 hours in, there was a new gamestopping bug like textures for an entire level not loading, etc. I love these games, but my luck with them has also been quite terrible, and tends to find all the sloppy bugs the programmers leave hanging in there. based on my experiences with the previous game, i now save every time before I do anything that involves a conversation or action with a named NPC. meaning i have about 300 savegames now, about halfway(?) though the game. I just zip off the saves older than a day or two to keep the numbers down
  19. yup. had the exact same bug. happened when first landing on the beach and I chose to level up eder and then myself as the very first action I did. if instead, I reloaded before the ship crash, then run around on the beach for a bit, the problem did not occur. i take it there are some tags that cause problems with the levelup scripts if you try to levelup in certain areas. it was only that one time, has not happened again.
  20. you can remove the effect, though I don't know if there is a standard console command for that, and if there was, yes, that likely would cancel achievements. you CAN do it very easily via the uconsole mod over on nexus mods, and it will not invalidate achievements. highly recommend it; pretty much makes the game entirely customizable to your personal preferences.
  21. and if you want to maintain your achievements, use this: https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/2 it is... awesome. best in game editing console I have ever seen. oh, and the devil's breastplate + Helm of the falcon looks really nice on a bleak walker. try setting your primary color to black, and your secondary to dark red. I was very pleased with the result.
  22. early in the game I picked up a Huana wooden shark carving that was marked as a quest item. think pickpocketed it off a merchant in the first town? been carrying it around for ages now... anyone know what quest it goes with or who wants it?
  23. if you have the cornet of depths, you can still get the cornet of waves by talking to the assassin in Delver's row. he's at the far right side, in the blind alley. you can pay him cash, and he will fetch it for you in 24 hours. when you talk to him again after the day is up, just wade through his bull****, click the option to ask to buy his knife. that will close that dialogue box. THEN talk to him again, and he will give you the second cornet.
