  1. Or...is PoE < PoE? It's a conundrum! CONUNDRUM I TELL YOU! (then again, maybe it ain't)
  2. I haven't played very far into the game, so some of these suggestions may not be particularly valid. 1. Variation in encounter placement (not just number of enemies, etc.) between difficulty levels. Maybe this happens in PoTD, but between normal and hard, everything is always in the same place. Add some more encounters in different places as you go up in difficulty. This may go a long way to boost replayability. 2. Stronghold. Make it have some real impact or just be done with it. The current half-assed implementation of a great concept is a disappointment. Some random ideas (possibly good and bad): Associate your companions (relative to personality/experience) with various tasks/upkeep/rewards, e.g., Kana can research scrolls in library. As stated above: involved events/interactions. 3. Weapon slot hotkey. Just do it. 4. More active combat abilities. Not a lot, wouldn't want to saturate it, but a couple more options would be nice.
  3. Not sure that's what OP was getting at. However, to your point, how does this game not provide players with the way to play (relative to progression, rest, and consequence) according their own expectations? You want to set up conditions for "success," such as making it through a dungeon without resting at all or using only the number of camping supplies you initially bring into the dungeon? Cool. You can do that. Make a save at the start and have at it. If that doesn't work, you reload from the beginning and adjust your strategy. Nobody is forcing cheesy over-resting tactics or abstract notions of personal success/progress conditions. Perhaps I'm missing your point. /shrug
  4. 8 pointlessly irrelevant and completely subjective numbers out of 10 probably even more pointlessly irrelevant and completely subjective numbers ain't too shabby, is it? /shrug.
  5. The patch is listed just underneath the game download in your GOG Libray. GOG.com -> (top navigation bar) Account -> Library -> Pillars of Eternity. Should be right there. Not particularly helpful, I know, but good luck.
  6. Yep. Sagani has started interrupting my naps to talk to me about stuff that hasn't happened yet, which sucks. Among the companions I've found thus far...she is the most interesting and well written to me. Now I just want to send her for a time out to think about the grandfather paradox.
  7. This coke I ordered tastes just like coke, but I really like 7-UP. What the actual **** is up with that BS? (Psst. Next time, order a 7-UP, Zherot)
  8. I feel left out (only slightly). I have NO idea what you folks are talking about, but I actively avoid social media. What was the original content? /shrug
  9. I prefer to stare vacantly and indignantly. Takes a bit of practice, but once you've got the hang of it, it really gets that sense of entitlement rolling really well.
  10. Hrm, I was just cruising by the forums to see what the word may be re: GOG patching. Guess I'll just have to wait and find out.
  11. While not specifically what you're looking for, the game groups saves (including auto and quick) for each character created I believe (even those with the same name). Bob Syerunkhal (Cipher) --Auto --Quick --Save1 --Save2 --Save3 Bob Syerahnt (Druid) --Auto --Quick --Save1 --Save2 --Save3 Maybe that's not sufficient for what you're looking for though. /shrug.
  12. Off topic. I may be a generation and a bit older than you are. All good, I know what you're talking about. In my childhood, we had the Choose Your Own Adventure series of books. Same idea. But yeah, awesome and frustrating. Anywho, OP, welcome to life, games, and everything in between. Choices have consequences. Sometimes they're good. Sometimes they're less good. Sometimes...you die (but at least that's all fantasy and role play, so you get to try again). Make different choices. Adapt. Get on with it. Skip merrily however you wish, but don't forget to make that tea at some point. It might taste like crap, but it'll do you some good.
  13. Why have I not tried to fix the problem? It was an assumption based on the fact that all you did was "wah-wah" and demand a refund. With nary a hint of you actually doing anything about it. Not exactly a stretch. I tried different save states, replaying the segment, different party setup, item setups. Then I was told that I should get the steam version instead of the GOG version, due to steams on the fly patching. So I did get the steam version, and it did not solve the issue. Yes I would love to read the rest of the story, but I can't . Since you could not read the forum, that is because the game crashes. Why would you recommend Madden 2014 when I like these role-playing games? I'd suggest you ignore him, he's being intentionally ignorant and unhelpful. These forums are not the appropriate place to request a refund. You have very limited and probably not particularly effective options. As suggested: (1) Contact Obsidian directly; email support@obsidian.net (2) Contact whoever you purchased the game from. Have a nice day.
  14. Proofreading is good, but that got way too long and I just don't care.
  15. My character is a ranger with a bear companion. I basically assumed the enemy bear would be two to three times as strong as my own bear just to be safe. Unfortunately it turns out the enemy bear adhered to a different law of physics and killed my own bear and myself in a cheap single blow. It's my own fault for trying to role play in a role playing game. As always meta gaming is key. So, you're role playing. Allow me to put this to you: After all that, you decide to frolic merrily into same really dark cave rather than b-line to the nearest inn to quaff an ail, feel up a wench, and see if you can find somebody to help you with this what's been going on. Fair enough. Free will and all that. Unfortunately, there is no correlation between free will and intelligence. Maybe you should think about making better life choices. Good luck. Live and learn.
  16. ^ That. This is the one that I have a (rather small) problem with. That one is just laughable, in my less than apologetic opinion. However, I won't claim my objection/perception of this one is rational; it probably isn't. I'm not that arrogant. The double click is just basic every day mental model-ingrained user interface mechanics. Even worse, this effects of the bug are clearly visible in the user interface. It's difficult to comprehend how this slipped through QA. Maybe I just live in some mystical idyllic realm where developers actually look at their user interfaces before unleashing their product (to the fans that supported them). /facepalm. I feel sort of embarrassed for Obsidian. Do I regret my purchase of this product? Nope. It's great, I really like it. Will I continue to support Obsidian in future? Yep. They consistently try to make the games I want to play. Do I think they dropped the QA ball with PoE? Absolutely. Don't see how anybody could say otherwise. Should they catch a little flack for that? Yep. Is this all a big deal? Nope, not even a little bit. It'll get patched. Meh. Whatevers.
