  1. There may be some who will then confuse the Exile with Darth Nihilus, and others may start going back to the Nihilus-is-spawn-of-Exile conclusion. And also, are you going to see a black void behind that mask, or are you going to get to see eye, skin, and hair color? And also, on a more significant detail, what happens if Revan and the Exile get a crappy voice actor? I remember 10 years ago people begging for Link not to have a voice in Ocarina of Time because when Mario finally had a voice in Super Mario 64, they thought it was absolutely terrible. And then there's also the whole notion of what they're supposed to sound like. For one individual, their female Exile may have an Alabama accent, while for another, their male Exile may have a French accent. And again, as TSL proved, Revan isn't the character we made in K1 anymore, and most likely the Exile isn't the character we made in TSL (but they're still the same individual, so any physical features would either have to be unnoticeable or flexible according to the player). And one of the major deviations that TSL introduced was the graying of Dark and Light, so the dialogue according to alignment shouldn't be much of an issue (and gender is easy to do).
  2. 50 BBY - 50 ABY say hello But yeah, I do hope KOTOR III resolves the major storylines. Maybe they can leave some bit storyline open for some comic or whatever, but any and all major storylines should be resolved. Heck, I wouldn't mind LA making a game starring Hanharr in his mad quest to hunt down the Jedi Mira following the destruction of Malachor V. Furball vs. Force.
  3. I made the same mistake April of last year. ... but I will never join MySpace. I miss the good ol' days, back when you needed to know HTML and a Web Service Provider if you wanted a corner of the Internet...
  4. I don't think the True Sith are going to be THAT xenophobic, especially if it's held by something variable like ideal and not something constant like race or gender. Now, while I don't think they would let outsiders come in by the bunches, they probably wouldn't see one individual as a significant threat, until it was too late.
  5. I think there were some sections that were cut, if I'm not mistaken. But yeah, I agree, it was a bit small. ... but then again, every place was small with the exception of Peragus. The only place where the exploration size was OK was Dxun and maybe RZ-0031 IMO.
  6. Under the DS TSL ending, the Republic may not be rebuilding anymore by then. Goto did mention that the Republic had one month to govern if nothing was done to preserve it. If Onderon seceded and the Republic was still a dying planet with little hope, then Onderon was to the anti-Republic what Telos was to the Republic. And under the 100% DS ending, the Republic wasn't getting a foothold on Dantooine, Onderon, and possibly Telos (this is an assumption dependent on Czerka's relations with the Republic), something that many said was critical for the Republic. Yes, Malak and Nihilus's Sith are everything but an Empire no matter what happened, the Mandalorians are reuniting under Canderous Ordo, and the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine is rebuilt. I really don't think the Exile's companions are going to make that much of an impact on the Jedi Order, and more specifically the Jedi Council. Visas and Mical, yes, but I don't think Mira and Atton are going to be that involved with the Jedi Order (and to the canon note, what if I didn't turn them into Jedi? Should I be forced to see the ones I didn't train in the Force wearing Jedi robes and wielding lightsabers? ). And we don't even know if Bao-Dur is still alive, given the ambiguity of the whole sequence involving the Remote and lack of a definitive fate about him. I provided the LS variant above. The notion I got was that after Malachor V, they essentially go their separate ways. And from the interactions, most of the Exile's companions didn't get along with each other. Bao-Dur didn't like Mandalore, Goto didn't like the Remote or HK-47, Atton didn't like Mical, T3 and Mira, no one liked Kreia (the ones who knew she was even there). If it wasn't for the Exile, how many of them would have stayed along for the ride? I get the feeling that Revan is an expert in sociology and propaganda. Hey, if someone is told something enough times, that someone will eventually accept it as the truth, whether it is or not. That would be nice, I'll admit. Maybe even in a manner doesn't violate any potential NDAs
  7. ... and we know disgruntled former employees are a reliable source of inforation
  8. Why would I need that when I can listen to the music files located within the game folders?
  9. I think the storylines are becoming to the point where it will have to be sooner rather than later, considering all the buildup that Revan's fight against the True Sith is receiving, and sooner or later, the summation of the consequences of the actions both of them made will have to arrive. Fighting a dying Republic is different from fighting a reviving one. The endgame can't be irrelevant to everything else that happened. The endgame is a result of something that happened. K2 was able to have all four storylines work because it was (for all intents and purposes) separate from K1. It was building another segment to the arch, and now we're heading towards the peak of the arch, which is dependent on the segments supporting it. Here we agree (I even mentioned it above), but isn't the opposite your basis for why canon shouldn't be followed? As I was reading this, another thought hit me (this may be getting off-topic and bringing in other threads into this, but I'm going ahead with it anyway) - if the Sith are a belief, and the True Sith follow that belief, and Revan was an expert of fighting a war of conversion and doubt, then isn't it a possibility that this battle will be fought with ideas rather than lightsabers? Now I'm not sure how the Exile necessarily fits into this equation yet (and as I mentioned in another thread, I doubt their reunion will be a happy one because of Revan's requests). I'm starting to wonder if that Revan went to the Unknown Regions to convert the True Sith to his cause, propagandize a war with the Republic where the True Sith (and their beliefs) would be baited into extinction, and Revan didn't want anyone following him because right as the True Sith began to fight the war that would end them, Revan would vanish from the True Sith's sight, and if someone he knew was with him in the Unknown Regions, they would be unaware of his true intentions and think that once again Revan was stabbing his back on the Republic. Upon that assumption, they would probably make a beeline for Republic space and start wailing "traitor", if Revan wasn't able to silence them (lethally if necessary). Also, there are times where one outside individual is more effective than an entire outside legion. Again I have little idea where the Exile fits into all this, though.
  10. The idea has to be introduced before it happens
  11. Erm... not quite. Orbalisks block lightsabers, and I don't recall Bane being slow anyway. But remember, Revan has 1000 ways to kill a Jedi or Sith ... kinda like Palpatine, for that matter.
  12. I think basing it off the established canon can make things a little easier for the writers, since they now only have one story to account for, not several. Nah, it can be done. Both The Architect, myself and others have written speculative K3 plots that took this into account, and if we can do it, then certainly professional writers can as well. Might require some straining in places, but that mostly have to do with gender and appearance and so would be a problem anyway. Besides, Revan's gender and alignment remain optional in TSL, so that you could make Revan female and/or dark sided if you wanted. If you don't get the same option for exile in the next game, it will taste like gender bias and alienate potential players. To some people Revan and/or exile will always be dark sided. To me the exile will always be LS male. How much of repeat content are we in for in K3? If it's simply Revan and the Exile in True Sith space, then TSL and KOTOR have little consequence then. But people did want to see familiar planets, and something like that would begin to give KOTOR and TSL more impact then. Getting his memories back does not make him different as a matter of course - it depends on what he decides to become when confronted with these memories. Indeed, isn't that the choice Revan made back in K1? Embrace the dark side again and reclaim his title or remain on the LS? Sure, some of Revan's choices are a result of those memories, but then we already know that those are the reason he left to fight the true Sith. That confrontation could have changed Revan a lot in the four years he has already been out there when TSL begins, though. When he was on the summit of the Temple of Ancients, he knew who he was, not yet what he was, what he did, or why he did what he did. It's almost implied that by the time the Exile returns to Republic space, that most (if not all) of his memories returned, considering that the Jedi Council didn't pry memories of the True Sith out of his mind following his capture. How much of the Mysterious Stranger did he want to keep? How much was he going to keep? No established canon? What if I didn't make all of my party members Jedi? Then they were trained after the exile left - they were force sensitive and had the potential whether you built it in your game or not. No, whatever K3 becomes, it must have T3 and HK-47 in there. They are the R2 and 3PO of KotOR, the chroniclers of the story, if you will. I'd leave Canderous and Carth as NPCs you'll meet, but not companions. And they should be important with Carth as the leader of the Republic fleet and Canderous leading the Mandalorians. So what if Carth is dead - he just gets replaced by his "understudy" Cede like he was in TSL (though with less dialogue and cutscenes). As for Bastila, I'd make her a pivotal character - she is the link to Revan through their mutual bond. HK-47 IMO doesn't have much plot value at this point anymore, especially if K3 will be taking place in True Sith space. The fact that he amassed a droid army on Telos and on Mustafar is a big contrast to his initial anger and embarrassment over an army of droid clones, and there is a possibility that he may be trying to do something with them, and IMO he would have more use there than in the True Sith space with Revan and the Exile. I do agree with Canderous and Carth - they're out fortifying armies. As for Bastila, that can be a tricky subject, since she's going to be in Republic space the whole time. I'd like for her to be pivotal (especially under a canon situation), but I also don't want her showing up too early either.
  13. To be quite honest, I'm starting to care less and less about TSLRP. I really am. /continue
  14. Y'know, if Obsidian were to get the K3 gig, what would become of these threads?
  15. I think basing it off the established canon can make things a little easier for the writers, since they now only have one story to account for, not several. One big misconception people have about Revan is that he isn't the Mysterious Stranger anymore. Now that most of his memories have returned, he is a totally different man. No established canon? What if I didn't make all of my party members Jedi? T3 - yes HK-47 - To be quite honest, stuff him in that Hammerhead-class cruiser headed to Mustafar. He's built his HK-51 army, and I don't think he has much purpose in the Unknown Regions Canderous - Too busy reuniting the Mandalorians Carth - Under your "no establishment of canon" caveat, he might not even be alive Bastila - she would probably be a late game addition, pending where the game begins
  16. But Vader still keeps his Chosen One ID
  17. I agree, I think this is the most likely case, although it isn't explained at all what happens to the Exile once she kills Kreia. I mean, following the Rebuilt Enclave scene, the Exile's still panicking about what happens to her if Kreia dies...
  18. Revan and Bane haven't had their stories completely told yet, so the jury is out on them for the time being. Vader was always second to Palpatine, making him a good candidate not to be the Sith'ari, since he never really led the Sith, (and are the post-Palpatine Sith Order really stronger than the one that preceded it?). Palpatine has more of a case than Vader, and there's a lot of people in "Other"
  19. One of the scriptwriters at BioWare, IIRC
  20. The Jedi Civil War was not only intended to prep the Republic, but also to clean the Jedi Order, so that the next conflict wouldn't be a repeat of the Mandalorian Wars. With an infinite fleet, he could thin Jedi numbers without inflicting much on Republic forces (think Palpatine's Clone Wars, only with a different intent). Revan's plan was thrown off-track when Malak turned on him and Revan became an unsuspecting Republic trooper. Whether or not he would have use the Star Forge's arsenal against the True Sith is unknown. Like I suggested in the OP, I think Revan would tell the Exile to go back to where she came from, since he didn't want anyone knowing where he went, and if the Exile refused to leave, he probably would start to get a bit more forceful in trying to get the Exile to take a hint. ... and considering the Exile isn't Bastila, he most likely has less of an issue striking her (Exile) down
  21. Well, there has been speculation that the relationship between Revan and exile was a strained one. For example Malak recruited Exile into the Mandalorian Wars, not Revan. Yet Malak wanted HK-47 to terminate the Exile, so that doesn't hold much What does that have to do with anything? For one, HK-47 doesn't take orders from Malak, and second, why is it a problem that Malak recruited the exile and then later wanted him killed? I don't see how that somehow invalidates the observation that Revan did not recruit the exile. So if the Exile-Malak relationship changes, why wouldn't the Revan-Malak relationship change, either? Exile-Malak has a more extreme relationship (from recruitment to death-wish) than Exile-Revan. What I find notable is that Revan was conveniently not there for that battle himself, which suggests to me that he had a pretty good idea of what would happen. Besides, we already know from HK-47 that Revan used Malachor V to "clean house". If he wasn't there, then how'd he get a hold of Mandalore the Ultimate's helmet? If he left early, that's one thing; if he just assembled a helmet and claimed it was Mandalore's helmet that's another thing (and it could explain how Canderous' helmet is different from his predecessors) While Revan did pity her, she also made a good scapegoat, considering that she was a Jedi and she was involved with the operation of the MSG. She may have been the only Jedi to survive the battle (not including Revan and Malak) (but that's a very weak theory, I'll admit), and if that's true, it also makes a stronger reason to send her back to the Jedi Council on Coruscant. Pity, yes. And yet... HK-47: "Observation: Master, this is purely speculation, but there is a certain strength in parading defeated leaders before their people.Perhaps Revan felt that your return to the Council in your state would show them what Jedi were capable of - and the cost. Revan often referred to you as a Jedi who was already dead, and felt your reception by the Council would further show you their hypocrisy.Considering the council's judgment, I see they did not receive your return well." The Council also said the same thing, once the Exile had left. There also was that possibility that they knew Revan was right, but there was no way they would allow themselves to publicly admit it. Heck, deep down even Atris wanted to fight the Mandos. And the others went into exile. And IIRC, Atris leaked the Exile's information upon Kreia's orders. If Revan had any further plans for the Exile is unknown, but Kreia had something in mind for the Exile involving Revan, especially once the Exile drew Nihilus and his Sith out of hiding (where, for the Exile, there was little left for her to do after that point).
  22. It will be fun... for the time it lasts. It will never reach the revolutionary value of the kotor's, however Im loving the effects and game engine, so I guess im waiting for its arrival aswell. Id rather see a KOTOR 3 everyday on the upcoming game list though. TFU will surely be more revolutionary by its game/engine mechanics alone though There's nothing revolutionary about Kotors apart from Kotor 2's plot is quite revolutionary in SW setting Uhh, but that's it Engine was nothing but modified version of NWN engine It didn't feature physics etc. Plot in K1 was your random collection of SW lore Gameplay was dumped down version of over 20 years old system There was NOTHING revolutionary about Kotor People still learn new things and talk about TSL. Will we be doing the same with TFU several years after its release?
