The Russian team that you speak of probably didn't have the right wheels. You see, some are made for indoor (like hardwood floors) and some are made for concrete. If you use either of them on the wrong surface, you can barely move without slipping.

I've played roller hockey since I was in Kindagarden/First grade. But this wasn't like, street hockey, it was like organized by the town and we had a rink and stuff.

I see what you mean about padding, Enoch, but think about how many shins would be broken at during a hockey game. The NHL Skill's Comp. was on last night, and some guy's slapshots were breaking the 100MPH mark. Getting hit with a heavy peice of rubber at that speed without any padding would not be pretty.

I'm just making the point that basketball's "no/limited contact" rule is what drove me away from the sport.

I stopped playing basketball because of the lack of contact. As soon as I hit 11U hockey (thats when you can start checking), I started to think, "If a guy on the other team is going to score, why can't I just knock him out of the way?"

Are you serious? The NBA is probably the best example of fouls being called every 37 seconds.

Yeah, I'm 15. So like, no NHL for another few years. HOWEVER! I am on a 17U (anyone 17 and under)...And I have 24 points thus far. Season is about 1/3 the way done.
