  1. I think it is almost impossible to do it on a 2d engine. Diablo 3 accomplished that perfectly but it is almost full 3d.
  2. Cartoony? i don't think so. Original Sin has cartoony forests, not PoE. . And the fairy tale effect is typical of fantasy forests, unless there is a superdark setting (Diablo, Dark soul)
  3. Be honest, it's not the hood; it is that mouth and thoose lips.
  4. Oh sorry man, i thought u was referring to the "hood", it was a language misanderstanding, my bad. Yes, the cape seems bugged and it needs to stay at the same height of the shoulders, or maybe a bit under.
  5. Sensuki how can you see it floating? It seems normal from the screenshot. Did you see some video where the issue is more noticeable?
  6. Which issue? Btw, to be honest i find that portrait pretty decent, maybe a bit generic but, better generic than cheap (elves). It could be good for some custom adventurer
  7. Well, we have already a huge amount of threads about the gameplay or music, so i wanted to create one specifically for the ART side of PoE. Important: All is based on what we've seen till now (Beta, Pax panels, streams, etc.) WHAT I LIKE: -ENVIRONMENTS: Lovely areas, the backgrounds are full of details. The 2d choice was absolutely worth, places like Raedric's Hold or the Dragon arena look pretty epic and charming, Wilderness areas look intriguing and interiors are amazing and ultra-detailed too: Inns, Dungeons, even small places like the Manor within the stronghold courtyard. Also, one thing that most people probably won't notice: butterflies, insects, fireflies at night (love them, more please!!!!) add a lot to the scenery. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -UI ART: I like all parts of the interface: I like how the world map is painted, and i absolutely love the wood, stone and paper feeling almost everywhere, well done. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -SOME PORTRAITS I have to say companions portraits are ALL good and some of the standard portraits (for example godlike women) are excellent too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -SCRIPTED SEQUENCES: They are simple but efficient because of the pen&paper feeling they communicate: +1 to the atmosphere. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT I FIND ABOUT THE AVERAGE: -ANIMATIONS: Lot of people complained about the animations, expecially on combat; well, I don't know what they expected but i find them good for this kind of game, the 3d models allowed them to be a lot smoother compared to the IE games, where 2d sprites characters had really choppy animations. -ITEMS, ARMORS, WEAPONS, ETC.: We have some classic stuff, nothing special but fair enough for a fantasy setting. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT I DISLIKE: -SOME PORTRAITS: The amamuas are quite disturbing for example (but i guess that was the intent), and some elves (both male and female) are poorly ispired and look cheap. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -TOO BRIGHT NIGHTS: Nightime in this game seems too bright imho; If you take places like the Stormwall gorge or Defiance Bay for example, the palette colour is too light-blue and there is no darkness at all: this doesn't help to feel the right night atmosphere. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The only area i've seen so far to have a perfect dark-blue palette and the right darkness at night is the Dyrford village in the 435 beta build; would be an huge improvement to have all night environments like that. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And, what about you, guys?
  8. I see a sort of David Fincher influence, expecially at start : - )
  9. Someone says a demon face can be seen in the floor texture of the image 3; that face appeared after a developer (on the art department) purchased his new house and he just discovered it was built over an indian cemetery
  10. So if i'm focused and i try to run i risk to get big damage from my attackers, right?
  11. Tell me if it is correct: A is attacking B. C is attacking B. This means B engaged both A and C? If B disengages it takes more dmg? how? (be patient pls, i know it's like dealing with children)
  12. For engaged is intended when the enemies are focusing the char who is supposed to be engaged?
  13. I did read the whole thing and...sry but, i didn't understand too much. Is there some nice guy who can explain it in a shorter and easier-to-understand way?
  14. How do you know you can take bounties there?
  15. Ofcourse you have to possess the stronghold to activate bounties, casue that building it's on the keep construction screen, despite being outside the walls
  16. That was a bounty quest, just a stronghold quest filler. I'm pretty sure that all the other quests, both critical path and secondary ones, will have more side-content
  17. There is not percussion but if u listen in the last part of "Dirge of Eir Glanfath" track we have bells... the Justin Bells to be exact
  18. Can u actually walk on the Raedric Hold walls? There are some enemies up there, so i suppose it is an explorable\walkable area, even if i cannot see any ladder or door leading there
  19. I must say that on Pax Panels (both south and east) we heard 3 different combat tracks, all pretty awesome. The 1&2 are perfect and really BG style The third is super epic and pretty different in style, it's really dynamic and it seems to have a lot of different influences I guess we'll find them on youtube post release
  20. I dunno guys but i remember i completed Baldur's gate (back in the 90's) only by summoning creatures (both spells and wands) to tank everything, last boss included. It was my first Rpg ever played (if you exclude diablo, not properly an rpg anyway) and the first playtrough, so i was a supernoob....I can imagine an expert guy
  21. Well, regarding the running stance i have to say you guys are right, but everyone has his preferences and priorities.... for example i don't care about the lack of a walking mode, but i don't like the nights being too bright (take stormwall gorge for example or defiance bay seen on stream), and they won't change the night darkness or the running stance only cause of that. I guess we have to put faith in some mod for this kind of stuff
  22. This is the track i like the most. It has a dreamy vibe and i hope it will fill a magical moment, expecially at night
