Probably 2009, seeing as they're pretty slow when it comes to episodic content.

DotA sucks... well, it's fanbase does... the game is average at best. Really imbalanced, impossible to learn for newbies and the regular players are idiots (though some clans are more serious).

Started playing some custom maps on Warcraft 3... then I got bored.

I don't even care if 2008 is a cruddy year. With all the good games we got in 2007, I'll be busy for the entire year!

Starcraft 2.

It changes a lot... The best I've ever played are the Halo series, Ace Combat 6 and KotOR 1... oh and Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 is the best GBA game ever created.

I like story in RPG's... but the only it can possibly get me hooked is with an "epic" feel and a great soundtrack. Also, the idea of creating your own character and choosing WHAT you do is always fun. EDIT: Oh, and it also needs to have lesbian sex scenes. EDIT2: And boobies.

Crimson Skies - High Road to Revenge was the most amazing aerial fighting game I'ver ever played. The boss fights were amazingly fun.

Try something simple (warcraft 3 TFT) first, then if you managed to be any decent in any of the areas (modelling, skinning, JASS, Terraining) then you should be ready to move on. Wc3 is just about the easiest game to mod. No need for spreadsheets and the like and the tools have been there for a long time.

Mechwarrior 2 was fun. But I still prefer Crimson Skies.
