  1. Well, I am not so certain about that. With only around 5000 soldiers there and hunting Bin Laden at the same time, they don't look so sincere about rebuilding the place they just bombed to pieces. And now they have Iraq on their hands and nobody cares about that backward coutry any more. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What are you talking about? The insurgency in Afghanistan is not nearly as bad as it is in Iraq. And besides, the biggest job of the soldiers is to secure the country and keep it safe, not to actually do the rebuilding themselves. That is where the relief workers, foreign aid, etc. come in. And Afghanistan wasn't "bombed to peices", either. the vast majority of targets bombed were military targets intended to eradicate the Taliban resistance. And don't forget, there are other countries helping us there as well. There are a bunch of people still there, it just doesn't get much media attention any more.
  2. How 'bout them Steelers? One of us should start an NFL thread.
  3. Yes, she is the one inside Khoonda. I believe you have to talk to her and find out about Vrook. That is where you get the quest to look for him, I think. After you find out he is not in the sub-level, you have to go back to the crystal cave. In the one cavern you will see a group of mercenaries and Vrook in a cage. Before you finish the sub-level, no one will be there. After you talk to Vrook, you can either side with him (lightside) or kill him/imprison him in the cage (darkside). After that, mercenaries will confront you outside the cave. That's where you can either choose to fight against them or side with them. That is where the whole "Battle for Khoonda" starts. Hope that isn't too confusing. That should help. If it doesn't, keep asking.
  4. I certainly don't think I compared it to the tsunami. While certainly many people died in the hurricane, I think the "amazing" part of this disaster is that a world famous city is now mostly underwater. It's certainly not as destructive in human life or (I would assume) in property. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Besides, it's a tragedy no matter how you look at it. It's not as if people are going to look and say: "Oh, it's nothing. We've seen worse." And as Kumquat said, New Orleans is like a lake now.
  5. I've done everything exept battled khoonda. how do I do that <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Welcome to the boards. First off, did you 1. Talk to the governor about Vrook? 2. Clear out the Jedi Enclave's sub-level yet? 3. Clear out the crystal cave? 4. Talk to Master Vrook?
  6. The Jal shey robes looked bad, but I liked them. The heavy armor was great to have, except it blocks force powers. This is why I had NPC's like Handmaiden and Bao-Dur choose force powers that weren't restricted by armor.
  7. And she has the nerve to keep your lightsaber...
  8. Eldar wishes that he was Authority. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> *Walks to the corner and cries.* <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's okay. Nobody here takes Authority seriously anyway. :D *is mugged and dragged off to room 101*
  9. Please let me know where you are standing that poisoning peaceful worshippers purely to stir up sectarian hatred is moral. I need to know in case I accidentally loiter there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Keep in mind, these people are the same ones Michael Moore calls "minutemen". <_< I don't care who you are or what you believe in, doing what these murderers did was evil, no questions asked. Poisoning innocent people, firing mortars at them, or killing them off by suicide bombing is immoral.
  10. The Amish are going to laugh in our faces. :">
  11. As a matter of fact, today my dad spent about $37 on gas today. Where I am, the prices range from $2.59-$2.99 a gallon. Anyone up for a bike ride?
  12. They said it would run out in the 70's. It didn't. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Keep in mind, the Weekly World News is the same paper that writes articles about Bat Boy and Hillary Clinton having an affair with an alien.
  13. According to the Weekly World News, the world's oil supply will run out by the end of the year.
  14. While doing a research project on obesity in America, I wanted a picture of a "Big Gulp" cup for my powerpoint. I googled "big gulp" in the Image Search, and most were normal, except one. *shudders*
  15. I think you're probably right. Never mind - I'm sure there'll be another Iraq thread along in a week or two. There always is. There's no such thing as a fully-baked democracy. Some democracies are more - well - democratic than others. All democracies have their imperfections. Remember Florida and the dimpled chads? I saw a US congressman being interviewed on the TV and it was put to him that there were election observers coming to the US to look at the 2004 presidential election in Florida and he said "Yes, but they're coming to learn from us". I think he was serious! That just cracked me up. Please don't take this as senseless America-bashing. Every democracy has its problems, without exceptions. People who live under tyranny or very flawed democracies like Tanzania or Russia may envy US democracy uncritically, and that's understandable. Those of us in more established democracies see the flaws as well. I won't list them - we all know what they are. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Right on. Hehe...I remember the 2000 election. The electoral college is one thing we should get rid of. It was useful maybe at one time, but not today. I doubt we'll see that happen anytime soon, simply because the big states don't want to lose influence. Wait...what was this thread about again?
  16. I heard a pretty good Michael Jackson joke today, but it's kind of inappropriate.
  17. Standard disclaimer: This is no bashing, just ignorance speaking, but didn't it take quite a while before the one person one vote thing was actually implemented. IIRC black people didn't have a vote or parlamentary representatives pre. 1861 and it was even later before the equal opportunity thing was available to "everybody" ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think so. And women didn't even have the right to vote until the 20th century. While we did have a "democracy", it was only a half-baked democracy. At first, most of the rights were just for white men. It wasn't until much later that all Americans really were free and equal.
  18. Doing what again? Oh...correcting you on your mistake. You weren't being rude until you sunk to stereotypes. That is rude and belligerent, regardless of what you may think. I already admitted my mistake and apologized to Lucius for it, so there's nothing else that needs to be said. Debate may not be my "forte", but at least I actually have the guts to admit when I'm wrong. But if you consider stereotypes to be debate skills, I guess you're the better man... "
  19. *borrows bucket* Awesome Revan pics. I love how Revan is so concerned about today's youth. :D
  20. I'll say it again slowly so you can understand: It...was...a...mis..under...standing. I don't know how I can make it any clearer than that. I misinterpreted his post, and responded to it. If you still don't believe me, re-read my all my posts and keep any further flaming off this thread. So long.
  21. Yup, have to agree. Amazing how anything having to do with the U.S.A. attracts so much arguing. Go America.
  22. Well, the fact it was draped on a statue of Saddam is different than if they displayed the U.S. flag on a pole next to the Iraqi flag. This was an isolated incident for the sole purpose of insulting Saddam and making his defeat clear. @Metadigital: I wasn't "acting the stereotype". It was a misunderstanding of Lucius's post, and I acted accordingly. As for my comment about Lucius, since I was wrong about it, I take it back.
  23. I'm betting there were other Jedi in the game (like Bastila) who were "in hiding" and forgotten. They'll probably be resurfacing in K3 (if we ever get one).
  24. Ah, the glory of stereotypes. Apparently, it's okay for the rest of the world to do that, but not us. Well, maybe Lucius was right about them interpreting it the wrong way. Do we know for sure what the Iraqis thought? NO. And what it really was (and what any intelligent person would know) was a jab at Saddam Hussein, an insult thrown in his face. Perhaps not the best decision of the soldier, but I think Saddam only got what he deserved. And the way Lucius said it, it sounded like he thought the soldier was intending to make it look like Iraq was U.S. territory now.
  25. Maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't. But understand, the Iraqis hated Saddam. In case you didn't see, the Iraqis themselves were defacing Saddam's statues, and one memorable scene was a child slapping the Statue's mouth with a shoe (considered a big insult over there).
