Rome was way awesomer, with all the weird units and stuff. Rome introduced the retarded diplomacy. I was actually able to have significantly long durations of peace in the first Medieval, and wars that went on for a significant amount of time with no fighting reverted back to peace. Rome did introduce the significantly better map, which is good and what I love about it's strategic component. But frankly, the messed up diplomacy, as well as the (at least in Medieval) hardcoded cap for how many turns the player could be at peace before the AI would declare war on you, just aggravates me to no end. I'm sure it exists again in Empire, as I have had stupid wars declared on me by Bavaria, despite the fact that I have 13x more provinces than it, and a huge standing army. I know the game is "Total War" but I'd prefer if they actually enabled the ability to have some actual empire building in the game again. Especially with Empire abstracting out a lot of the buildings and scattering them around the province (which I like). IIRC they tried to have the AI in Empire make decisions based of your relative strength and location to them. AND how things had been going between you. So if you were the strongest military power and you'd been beating them into a bloody pulp they'd sue for peace or accept any peace offer you gave them. Problem with this was that if you went to war with a single province country that you didn't want to take over becuase it'd tie up to many forces that were being used on other fronts, they wouldn't do anything because you hadn't defeated them or caused them to loose a province. I think when I played my swedish game, I beat the tar out of the norwegians, but they wouldn't let me go to peace because they still owned iceland or greenland and I hadn't sued after I'd beaten the ever loving snot out of them (was to busy beating up the ruskies and the swiss I think.

I think CA needs to go back and do either Shogun, or like, Jade Dragon total war.

Year one is actually a retelling of batmans origin by Frank Miller. Of course the guy has gone bonkers and has become similar to judd winnick in that e always changes the characters to suit his morals.

WoW and AoE2 in wow I've just seen the BEST guild recruitment advert EVAR! [22:12:39] [2] [Mildo]: 'get on my level' is currently recruiting anyone that likes to talk mad smack about the people in their guild, just remember that YOU are better then everyone else at this game because YOU are gods gift to WoW in AoE2 I've had to relearn the art of seige in that game (which is a little different htan most) and the fact that you're SUPPOSED to loose stupid amounts of troops in town razing.

Going back through Five people who died during sex and other terribly tasteless lists

Sorry, but I will criticize any- and everything, whether it's made by some hack or by the awesomest game designer of all time. Nothing is above criticism, at least for me. Did you strike a pose when you wrote that? Captain Criticism away! What's your point, Maria? Blindly loving everything one developer does is no better than blindly loving everything another developer does. Honestly I think maria is right, however I also think that Zero would fit in better to the F3 setting over Mass Effect.

Fear 2: Reborn. Very short, but more like FEAR than Project Origin was in terms of horror and feel. By short I mean "I beat it in 1.5 hours" short. Still, it was only five bucks (thanks steam sale) so it all balances out. And everyone's favorite victim of Fratricide from the first one has returned.

The term "kiting" comes to mind. However I think that the "walk backwards and fire" solution only works if the player is forced to walk slower than his opponents. Now I've played a bit of RE5 and found that the control scheme feels... clunky because of how it operates with the "shot" and "move" modes. MGS4 did a similar thing, but instead had snake slow way down when shooting while aiming (he could shoot normally but you couldn't aim worth a crap) but then again, he had enemies that shot back at him. I don't know, maybe the best way to deal with this problem with melee is that the zombies start throwin rocks at the players.

The wierd bit about Wall-E's ship for me is that they originally planned for 5 years... Then how the bloody heck did they have enough supplies to survive for as long as they needed to pop out those 7 generations?

Hrm, the first Google hit for that word takes us to the Gay Slang Dictionary which states: Why is that associated with gays? Cant anyone have that fetish? Oddly enough, I think of it as more associated with humans than any sub division. Animals wouldn't go for that because they don't want to drop the chances of their kids dying because of bad genes Almost lost my lunch today when we watched a video in human sexuality about how different cultures express certain erogonous zones. Particularly the bit about footbinding and the african tribes who try to make their lower lips utterly MASSIVE with friggin coins etc. The things people do to attract mates.

I'm not sure about that. The buzz around SWTOR seems to be more "ZOMG it's a Bioware MMO" than "ZOMG it's a Star Wars MMO". WoW became this behemoth without a mainstream recognizable brand-name (I dare say a lot of WoW players have never played any of the Warcraft RTS games), while Matrix Online is laying dead, Star Wars Galaxy on its death bed and LOTRO's trying its best just to survive. I think the way that WoW had it's success was that Warcraft had a fairly large following before WoW appeared. then when WoW appeared it had really good mechanics so friends networked it out and soon had everyone playing it. The hardest thing for a new MMO to do is attract customers away from WoW because they don't want to leave their friends.

Did some l4d with Der and later on Bok. Started out fairly even with both sides being able to pull vicious combos to murder one another, then Lordmatthias had to go and we replaced him with Bok. We promptly got whupped. *smokers the AI player into a wall and the ai's teammates disturb the witch leading to a twin incap*

Actually, the worst I've ever seen is "big rigs, over the road racing" or something, one of the trucks doesn't even work, you had a top speed goin foreward but not backwards (one of my friends hit lightspeed goin in reverse). every so often you'd drive UP a tree instead of hitting it, bridges sometimes didn't have any substance to them so you fell. Gamespot.com gave it a 0 Other than that, Ubersoldier is a terrible game.

No it's not. Don't make me whack you with my Ugly stick made of pure stupid and then throw you into the ugly tree making sure you hit every branch on the way down.

still sends chills up my spine when I hear it. Then there's Hell March and it's sequel While it's not a theme song, I'll never forget Warcraft 2's track.

That's a lot of stuff in regular use. I think my head would explode. Well, I'm unusual in that I put almost everything I think about on the screen. The first 12 buttons on the bottom left are hotkeyed to my number keys, but beyond that I don't really have anything bound (which is fairly unusual). That said, the rows on the left are the ones I mainly use for raiding, the ones on the right are used for misc stuff (for a weapon swap, mounts, a few macros, first aid, professions, things like that) That's awesome. Using 2 swords and 1 spell in The Witcher is about my limit for realtime fantasy multitasking. ANything more and I'd just be drooling on myself. Doing dps rotation is lot simpler than tanking or healing, I think. Depends on the tank, as a warrior I use by FAR the most abilities in any given fight. Paladins really only hit three buttons. Druids and DK's are somewhere in between. Healing is a whole other beast that to me is frightening and makes me want to hide under a rock.

How do you play the game with so much stuff on the screen? I can barely even see the game world. Is there a stripped-down combat HUD or something? Actually, he is using a TON of UI mods to make it look like that. Normally there's much less clutter. EVE has a much better integrated interface system. sorta kinda, the standard ui is fairly uncluttered until you need to start using more than 10 abilities at any given time.I think I've got five extra combat bars popped out so I can see everything I need on a regular basis, in the standard ui interface (which I have somewhere else in here) there's bars on the bottom and right side, your left side is taken up by party and then there's the buffs in the upper right corner with your minimap. Honestly I actually cut down on a lot of clutter (and those bars in that screenie are at 80% standard size). the clutter on the left in my screen shot is recount (a mod I usually don't even use) and Omen which monitors peoples threat in relation to the tank. ... you know what, I'm just gonna edit it to write out everything

The ever infamous Onyxia (of the particular youtube video) has returned with re-tuned loot and fighting. Overall an easy fight but still it's fun to see her actually do damage this time.

After a Dutch colonial empire and a resurrected Byzantine empire I'm done for now, thinking of going back to the Witcher, but I never did get the Enhanced Edition (or those massive patches) and I wonder whether my bandwidth can handle it. It's still much too expensive to just buy a copy of here (80NZD = something like 40-50USD). I was just going to wait for Alpha Protocol, but who knows what's happening with the release date there. funny thing, those massive patches? Yeah, those were for EE and Delux editions free if you had the base game

... Why do I imagine you as the reverend from the Western flicks that says "Blessed be thy name" then pushes over the podium and starts shooting?
