I'm not pro-racism, But it just bugs me that she expects me to go out of my way to do something or lie about it simply to satisfy her need to feel like she made a difference on her crusade against all inequalities. I mean, if I see blatant racism I'm gonna stand up, but she was basically telling us that when we lived our lives, if we were good people who wanted to fight racism, we had to move into a less homogeneous neighborhood, put our kids in a diverse school, and all around change our overall lifestyle to be around those who aren't like ourselves in terms of melanin levels. Like i said, she showed us the video (skin deep) and everyone in the class thought that one of the characters was being hypocritical (a latina was essentially saying "treat me like an individual you white jerk who's oppressed me in the past!"), and when we mentioned it in class (about half the class mentioned it and said something) the teacher attacked us. We also said that her idea of racism seemed to be overblown, given that we haven't seen things on the levels she was describing for a long time. She turned around and said "ok give me proof". One student mentioned that minorities will get jobs over the "majority" if all the applicants are qualified simply to prevent lawsuits, this was dismissed as an anecdote and we were told that proof was studies that were done that showed what we were saying. Similarly her proof that it existed was a few studies from 5+ years ago, and then a personal story from 10 years ago about one of her jobs. Basically we did take her on verbally but she ended up turning herself into a rock that wouldn't move for any reason from her position and DEMANDED that we feel angry about injustices that none of us ever experienced and that we do our best to rectify things simply because we had the gall to be born white and thus benefit from the inequalities/racism that she perceived. Today in class she's going over institutions, and one of the questions she asked was "Is america an oligarchy" because of the fact that 50 senators are millionaires (at least according to her data... which included the fact that only 4 are female), you basically require millions to become a leader in our system etc etc. Which struck me as simply taking her crusade from where it should have stayed (in the previous unit) and simply dragging it along kicking and screaming into the next unit.

Well I'm at a community which means that the teachers aren't published. And often the teachers aren't that fantastic. Sometimes you get one or two who know what they're doing (my business teacher for example used to be an exec who would come in, clean up somebodies mess, and then go to the next mess). This teacher at least knows how to teach but she also will start to preach on subjects (particularly inequalities). My philosophy teacher doesn't know how to teach and doesn't really let us discuss philosophy.

Well this is the teachers "grand crusade". She ate up one entire class room after we watched a video (called "skin deep") where a group of college students were thrown in a house for three days to discuss race, and got very very aggressive when we started voicing opinions along the lines of "Well that one girl was irrationally hating white people." and the teacher defended the people within the video and ended up making us feel like it was OUR fault that we were born white and should own up to the fact that our ancestors enslaved another group of people (weather that be true or not) and should thus take a very active stand against racism. Ultimately I put in "I'd do XXXXX, and I find this question wholly inappropriate". Will I use points? Yes, but I also think that if I did what alan suggested I'd end up flunking simply because she doesn't like somebody fighting her views.

That is part of being in college. Kindergarten through 12th grade teachers are supposed to stay away from voicing personal opinions and challenging students over political and social issues, but once you hit college that goes out the window. What class is it anyways? Today I built a playhouse with my father-in-law. It is two stories and has a climbing wall and a slide, as well as a swing set. It took quite a bit of time, but it looks good. We got it for free from a neighbor, just had to take it apart, move it, and then reassemble it It was sociology. And it's ok to VOICE your opinion, but forcing a student to go with that opinion isn't right.

I got frustrated today on a take home exam that DEMANDED to know exactly what I was doing or will be doing to combat racism actively. This really bugs me because basically it's either I change my lifestyle for a single grade, or I lie to her for a grade. My teacher shouldn't even contemplate that sort of thing on a test... it strikes me as unethical to do something like that.

I think the guideline they gave us was "if they look under 25 card 'em" but I usually play the safe side and card EVERYONE... even the 90 year old granny.

Well for the reserve AND the pickup we need ID. Something from the government that says you're over the age of 17. We have to be very careful about this simply because of the fact that if we screw up in the slightest, we loose our jobs and they get sued. >.>

I've just spent the better part of the last two days on "thatguywiththeglasses.com" watching reviews of 90's movies by NostalgiaCritic. Well, older than 90's, like the Captain America movie which had a great bit about the randomness of the nazi agents decision to start shooting (includes a handshake syke). /hate the guy who showed me this.

Woke up, wandered to my computer, sat down... and broke my glasses. then spent 40 minutes hunting for the recipt from Costco so I can get em fixed under warranty and ended up finding a picture of myself from 1995 in 4th grade.... God was I small.

In game neither will be I think. The Loki is a clan mech and the warhammer is on the unsuable list for being a stolen design. And the image that people are talking about is a hellbringer aka Loki

Saw zombieland, went in with miniscule expectations and was pleasently suprised. As was my dad who thinks it'll be a cult favorite.

Besides Suikoden, this is my favorite series. I just hope hope hope some day they will do a Part 4. *sigh* I doubt it, Episode 2 kinda threw people off and ended up loosing a lot of the fanbase so that Ep III just barely sold. If the did Xenogears 2 they might have something (they'd have to try for a similar artstyle with updated CG) but I think Xenosaga is kinda dead

Watching the world series... I don't have a specific affiliation, but I'm kinda wanting to go for the phillies for some reason.

Worked a bit... so boring that I just started thinking about my nerdy stuff while going through the motions and still had some fantastic numbers

Clan invasions didn't hit until around 3030. Loki is a clan mech, the one in the game is a warhammer (the one being piloted anyway)

Personally I'd go for a Guard movie with cameos by the other types (like during a pitched battle you see a team of marines just blitz through the battlefield and stomp all over a guard platoon that gets in the way or something). As for 40k backround, wiki has quite a bit, but another good place to go is the Relicnews forums and check their 'backstory and fluff' section for 40k, they have a list of threads that are useful to specific topics of discussion and you can learn quite a bit from there. As to 40k books, Dan Abnett's stuff, Grey Knights, and Ultra Marines are the best IMO. Soul Drinkers looks at the imperium ans an enemy but still loves the god emperor. Abnetts stuff is about regular people (for the most part) and how society works, Grey knights is all about heresy, and Ultra Marines gives you the basic understanding of Marines and how they operate.

The big thing that allows the NBA to be a monopoly is because it relies on fans to be happy with the situation. If fans start thinking corruption is running rampant than you're gonna see a load of viewership drop and a decrease in revenue. I do admit, I'm happy to see that even the members of the NBA were disgusted by how the Kings were treated in that playoff game (seriously, lakers tied it up with a three pointer made a second after the buzzer rang. Outcry was so large the NBA had to allow play reviews to be implemented to prevent it from happening again).

I've been juggling two characters, one horde one ally. My ally is doing what she normally does as the Warrior queen of tanking. My horde is actually a DK, which is of the school of "easy to learn, hard to master" in terms of getting good numbers out of it. I've also got the purified Ony talisman on Kith so that I can plow through old dungeons if I want and not have to worry about anything killing me due to regen

Rofl I watched this last night and agreed on all points. The airbrushing part was hilarious and it wasn't just devastators testicles, there was like a huge emphasis on scrotal trauma in this movie and I'm not quite sure where that inspiration came from. I mean every 15 minutes had something to do with balls. I laughed because I'm a 12 year old at heart but after like the 8th time it was more for the absurdity of how monumental the budget it has and how low brow they are going for laughs. The pot brownie thing was retarded as well, that needs to be outlawed from now on. It's not and was never funny. Please stop. While it had all these problems they were really just a small drop in the bucket compared to the incredible abuse in pacing and disjointed story telling. Whoever penned this story should be ashamed and him and Bay must have been on speed together becuase it was just ADHD throughout the entire film. I won't lie though, I did enjoy it at least for the action which was sufficient. I just don't understand who you have to give oral to to get a decent plot in one of these, it's not that difficult. From what I read they decided that everything that made the first movie good would be better on steroids, thus they amped up the darkness and death etc, and also ramped up the stupid stupid humor. I hated it because it kinda lost it's innocence. I mean you look at the first one and it was fairly chaste with little backround love story etc, but this one turned it into a (pardon my language) slutfest that had balls and other bits hanging out all over the place.

Just got back from a cringe worthy class. Philosophy, a group had to debate if god existed, and the pro god group felt like it had stolen half it's material from one of those bad young earth creationist groups.
