We just did a small civil war unit in my history class (mostly glossed over because the teacher figures we've already gotten enough of that in our middle and high school years), and I was wondering, was the american civil war a big deal over all or is america just huffing itself up as the best nation and everything we do has massive impact on everything everyone else does?

There were two new factions (Brits and Panzer elite) in the first expansion, in the second expansion you just had a few reskins that do slightly different things (like germans (the elite faction) could replace their tanks with a version that could have a calliope barrage attached.)

I did like the "we're happy she decided to keep the child" and then said that she didn't want to give anyone the choice to make that decision. of course, the only soundbites of her I've heard are the ones where she sounds like somebody jammed a talking points memo into her back and every question she gets not on that memo makes her brain crash in a thousand pieces. Reading Tyrrany of the Night from Glenn Cook. It's a fiction novel that follows a soldier on a personal mission that turns into something much more, more political and spy style than soldiery. Set in a 3rd crusade era world analogue, it's kind of interesting. They have gunpowder, swords, and a bit of magic, but the interesting thing is the political landscape. Cook put in analogues for the Roman Cathoics, Muslims, Jews, Church of England, and a few other cute things for social commentary on how the world is/was in relation to the church and politics.

*looks at kennedy and bush dynasties* I see more parallels to the US than the USSR. Of course, I don't exactly know how the USSR worked.

infantry can be handled by almost the same tactics as any other infantry grouping. However you just can't use tanks so your counter is going to require you to have a hardpoint with an MG (a pair of buildings would probably be best) or just have a small unit hide in a building and fight and drop a arty strike on them. Just fyi, Stormtroopers are the german equiv to he Rangers.

Interestingly I just noticed in the bioshock review that when he mentions steam powered turrets, he shows a gun turret with the steam logo on it

eh, I figured something mentioned in the first 5 minutes didn't need tags. Well, you mentioned 7 hours, so I assumed it was important. Well, I'm pretty deep overall in the game, but the reason you're playing as Ezio is given in the very start of the game. The future part of the story is actually building (supposedly anyway) to the culmination that is in the third game where you play as desmond in the future, probably hunting for the pieces of eden.

Actually they made it so that the counters you pull off can be dodged, you can be countered, and there are uncounterable opponents (the weapon used is so friggin big you couldn't counter it effectively). I finally got to the first major Desmond bit, took me quite a while (7 hours IIRC) as I had Ezio running to Venice. Basically you're in the Animus this time because the assassins are trying to get desmond back up to "I can kill any man" levels of skill and are using ezios experience to do it.

There better be A LOT of sexy Kristen Bell then... not really, there was only ONE section of the future that I've seen thus far.

I think I'm 7-8 hours into it now. There's only one future part so far, otherwise the story is more linear within the game and yes, desmond does fight. One thing I've noticed is that they REALLY amped up the sexuality. You learn how to be invisible from prostitutes, one of the first things you do is get ezio laid, and you can hire prostitutes to distract guards. also there is a LOT more complexity in leveling your character and how things work, they actually incorporated a lot of GTA stuff (earning money, improving property, buying weapons and armor)

Finished Uncharted 2... the ending didn't seem like a very good climax, but it worked. Also the characters do grow on you, unlike what some people say. As to the L4D thing, I found that it's good in short bursts with friends but otherwise it's just annoying to do it again and again because of the sameness of each map and the ability to predict the ai. Also found this in WoW http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98uDkyzVvSc...player_embedded and yes... it actually has an effect in game... makes your head into Mr. T's nightelf mowhawk

Loaded up the PTR of WoW. Looks like they're gonna have one heck of a confrontation with Arthas Also Uncharted 2 is friggin awesome on so many levels it's deadly.

spent some time with uncharted 2 (good game) and had one of my cats (the a social one) on my lap and clawing my chest and nipple (ow). Then went to bed and woke up this morning to both my cats attacking the carpet outside my door trying to get in and wake me up so that I could feed them and let them out. Only one can save me!

the map takes quite a bit of getting used to but once you're used to it it's crazy fun.

Ok, I'm now on a "I wanna relive my childhood" trip and found a guy on youtube who's uploaded ALL of the power rangers episodes from the first six seasons. ... I love the guitar theme... In somewhat related news, Power Rangers from 1993 is being remastered and rerun by Disney starting next year.

Except that rather than me actually learning the information I'm merely examining it to find obvious bias after what happened previously, thus she's not doing her job of keeping me engaged and learning the information.

*sigh* class with the preacher today... and now we're discussing the evils that corporations and the mass media are (showed us a documentary "Corporation" that only showed the bad sides of corporations).

I'm not pro-racism, But it just bugs me that she expects me to go out of my way to do something or lie about it simply to satisfy her need to feel like she made a difference on her crusade against all inequalities. I mean, if I see blatant racism I'm gonna stand up, but she was basically telling us that when we lived our lives, if we were good people who wanted to fight racism, we had to move into a less homogeneous neighborhood, put our kids in a diverse school, and all around change our overall lifestyle to be around those who aren't like ourselves in terms of melanin levels. Like i said, she showed us the video (skin deep) and everyone in the class thought that one of the characters was being hypocritical (a latina was essentially saying "treat me like an individual you white jerk who's oppressed me in the past!"), and when we mentioned it in class (about half the class mentioned it and said something) the teacher attacked us. We also said that her idea of racism seemed to be overblown, given that we haven't seen things on the levels she was describing for a long time. She turned around and said "ok give me proof". One student mentioned that minorities will get jobs over the "majority" if all the applicants are qualified simply to prevent lawsuits, this was dismissed as an anecdote and we were told that proof was studies that were done that showed what we were saying. Similarly her proof that it existed was a few studies from 5+ years ago, and then a personal story from 10 years ago about one of her jobs. Basically we did take her on verbally but she ended up turning herself into a rock that wouldn't move for any reason from her position and DEMANDED that we feel angry about injustices that none of us ever experienced and that we do our best to rectify things simply because we had the gall to be born white and thus benefit from the inequalities/racism that she perceived. Today in class she's going over institutions, and one of the questions she asked was "Is america an oligarchy" because of the fact that 50 senators are millionaires (at least according to her data... which included the fact that only 4 are female), you basically require millions to become a leader in our system etc etc. Which struck me as simply taking her crusade from where it should have stayed (in the previous unit) and simply dragging it along kicking and screaming into the next unit.

Well I'm at a community which means that the teachers aren't published. And often the teachers aren't that fantastic. Sometimes you get one or two who know what they're doing (my business teacher for example used to be an exec who would come in, clean up somebodies mess, and then go to the next mess). This teacher at least knows how to teach but she also will start to preach on subjects (particularly inequalities). My philosophy teacher doesn't know how to teach and doesn't really let us discuss philosophy.
