What is your opinion on the Israeli-Palestenian conflict
Calax replied to urielrose's topic in Way Off-Topic
2 things One: most of your comments only reinforce my opinions that Israeli Jewish citizens are stuck up jerks who think they're just gods gift to the world and that everyone should just ignore their bad because they're just so bloody awesome. Two: Opinions are opinions, not fact. To say an opinion is far from the truth is a terrible terrible use of english. -
I'm not sure they're talking about JUST bloodlines here. In the 90's vampires were basically Masq permutations. I think that the first real "aristocratic" vampire came in in about 1819 but didn't become popular until Dracula (I know in the movie, but I've heard that in the book he's actually less of a gentleman than he's potrayed as). As to the game mechanics I'd say that they used Dominate for more overt things and for people who didn't want to spend their entire time getting persuade up to deal with all sorts of things.

I don't think about him at all. He has an axe to grind and uses his movies to do it. That is his God given, Constitutionally guranteed right. If someone goes to see them than they are entertained thats fine with me. I will not watch them though. The difference between me and some others around here is I don't think he should be deprived of his forum simply because I don't like what he has to say. (Not insinuating anything Calax and Deadly, don't take that wrong). I'm not saying that he should be deprived of his forum, but I do find the fact that a news network who's primary commentator proclaims the "no spin zone", on a "fair and balanced" network is showing quite obvious bias and is taken as a if they're just being honest to be horrific in general. That said, this guy (who is admittedly liberal about things, just look at his user name) found these things:
-
This guy has been on the air for 10+ years, has written four books and had a two year stage show/lecture tour. It is a little quick to judge that based on 12 minuites of Youtube footage taken without the context of his whole show. In short he is a news commentator/radio talk show host. He is very much like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, etc. He is not a news journalist and does not pretend to be one. He is not disingenous like Chris Matthews, Olberman, or other vermin of their ilk because he makes no secret about the fact that his show is all about his opinions of whats going on in the world. You have to take it for what it is. Or just don't watch it. It is still a free country. Now based on Calax and Deadly's posts, and not meaning to put words in their mouth, but they don't seem to understand that or dislike him simply because his politics are not their politics. Nothing wrong with that at all but at least they should be willing to admit that. well, my very first youtube link shows that he took a comment that Anita Dunn made saying that "a quote from two of my favorite political philosophers, Chairman Mao and Mother Theresa" turned into "her favorite political hero, Chairman Mao" ignoring the fact that it was obviously in jest and that she included mother Theresa in the comment. I haven't watched his show, or olberman or matthews or whoever, but ultimately you should group them all into the same catagory, it's just that fox news (Fair and balanced remember) is VERY OBVIOUS about it's political leanings and has commentators who follow those leanings and will do their best to distort things so that their agenda looks like the only rational thing on the planet and that everyone else is loons.

What is your opinion on the Israeli-Palestenian conflict

so "its our homeland" is a defense for the level of inequality that is imposed on palisinians? I mean you can't claim something is a homeland and that it should be yours if you haven't owned the bloody thing in living memory. I don't really care about the whole thing but I dislike any group appearing and getting a "holier than thou" attitude and play the victim to garner sympathy to keep outsiders sending them money and influence. And honestly the above is part of why I dislike sending support or anything Israels way, "This is my history, feel sad for me!" And then you say that Palestine is trying to get another war going by "turning to newly formed nations" for military help. Now I'm not entirely sure about the political situation in that region, but I'm pretty sure the only newly formed regimes in the area are Iraq and afganistan, one is US supported (and the US would NEVER support an attack on the israelis becuase people eat up the "woe is me" stuff) the other is having the rumblings of another civil war due to US's failure. -
I hope you're joking. Now that would not happen to be because his politics are opposite of yours would it? Or you Calax? I mean if somone is politically conservative does that preclude them from being brilliant? Now, brilliant is not the word I'd use to describe Glenn Beck, but I have read all four of his books and I will say that while he is a deeply flawed human being, he is certainly no dummy. And I can't think of too many instances where he has been factually inaccurate. In fact just one comes to mind. Partially it's political views but it's also things like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrLzf0rPF8w...feature=channel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1eThmvGEsY...feature=channel where he is a fear monger and he also distorts facts, quotes, and adds or removes words to suit his requirement for shock value.

there's an entire thread around here somewheres.

I'd love to have Glenn Beck as a professor, especially without restrictions. The man's brilliant. Edit: or better yest, Rush. That would be fun. The guy is brilliant only at being an actor. But as a news man he's terrible and often will misquote or distort what those he determines as "liberal" to be doing. He also attributes things to other things that have NOTHING to do with one another.

Ultimately you could probably change the data if it was in a predictive model, One of my professors last semesters had his Doctorate work in Tahoe and ended up in charge of setting up the model and he literally told us that so much of that is designed around human variables that you can make a predictive model pretty much say what you want, but if your model's human numbers don't jib with a bunch of other tests that have more... possible numbers, you're probably gonna have your data and variables looked over and face questions about why you picked what you did. That said, I'm willing to bet that this is a political hack job similar to what the discovery institute is trying to do with intelligent design. The "they're lying!" group, not the group that says warming is happening.

probably one of the hardest times I've ever had (skirmish wise) was against a computer player. Me and two friends were german and my opponents were airborne. It turned into a battle of attrition outside their front gate with us both usually running out of steam at about the same point, and our next attack would hit their recharged airdrops and start pumping out units to stop us. I can't remember which exact map it was, but the map was divided down the right side by a river so that two people were on one side and the extras are on the other. The ONLY reason we won was because the person who was on the opposite side of the river managed to roll up his opponent and then had to repair the bridges (as a matter of course we usually blew all the bridges because the computer could react quickly and cohesively if one side started to get ahead you'd see a bundle of troops zipping across the bridges to attack us and 2 armies cannot hold off three).

It'd be like gays and lesbians are right now. Only problem is that a few mutants explode, and a few look different. Ultimately tho I don't think there would be the huge "evil" reaction like in the comics (where people are blowing them up and putting on power suits to beat up on them). And nothing would be like chuck austens run on Xmen where a bunch of honest to god farming hicks had power suits that almost beat a team of characters who'd beaten apocolypse. Seriously...

I do think that instead of complaining about her you should "play" her. People with that kind of railroad mindset are rather easy to please. True, but to me that'd be a betrayal of the entire education system to allow something so totally railroaded to go through in an institution designed around giving students the basics to explore a field of study. It'd be a kin to allowing Glenn Beck to teach and not have any regulating influence on him and thus you get an army of students who are either surly about the teacher or have a totally distorted world view, but very little real information was passed from the teacher onto the student.

beat assassins creed... totally weird ending. also found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLwUjyP-dkQ

What sort of marriage? The legal definition, the religious definition, etc. There's so many. the basic idea of marriage as being the pact between partners legally... this allowed her to tangent into the whole gay marriage thing and leave the discussion about general definitions about marriage in the backround. She's quite the crusader for equality but the way she does it is so ham handed that it turns the entire class off.

Run Calax! Run... Lady is so "progressive" that she doesn't refer to her husband as her husband, but rather her "partner".
-
btw, if you flick on the subtitles it makes for a much more interesting discussion

well, next week I'm gonna visit my preachers dean. But this week she said "lets talk about marriage!" and spent a total of 10 minutes on marriage as a whole, and the rest of the time on gay marriage and prop 8 and inequality...

Yeah, pretty much. I did like the use of it as a device but that was just stupid.

yeah, also when you don't have somebody targeted but you're overt you get suckerpunched. I've found that the hidden blades are the most overpowered things in the world.

A California Community College. actually what I know about this is a mixture between two seperate community colleges. it's... interesting some of the teachers I get.

Also the only test of American military arms within recent history to the ACW was the Mexican American war where America just beat the living tar out of the Mexicans, thus the higher ups saw no reason to change tactics. I just find it interesting that the union won the war ultimately by simply having more men (IIRC grant lost more men than lee did during the final campaigns, but his army kept growing while Lee's shrunk)

Pretty much every death dialogue is along the lines of "My god! I'm dead! NOOOO!" with Ezio saying something in responce that's along the same lines. (Like one guy says "I'm dying? No, I'm not ready yet!" and ezio responds "nobody is" and says something in italian about the subject before RIP)
