  1. I'm enjoying Fallout 3. Oh, and we're only publishing/QA'ing the Trek games. Not developing.
  2. Damn it! I was finally going to get in, now you're chasing all the hotties out. You're a dead man.
  3. Bloodlines was not difficult. At all. User error. Back on topic, nothing he said in that leads me to believe the game will be easy. Powerful does not mean overpowering.
  4. WoD sucks. Big time. RIFTS is cool, but I've never been really inclined to play a RIFTS game. Shadowrun, on the other hand, is an amazing setting. The rest, meh. I'd like to see a truely original setting and rules, where the company has complete control over what they do with the setting and rules.
  5. Some areas, like Targos and the Severed Hand, had a lot of open roleplaying. Like the ghost in the tavern in Targos, or the means to complete the final fight with Isair and Madae. Other instances, not so much.
  6. Yah. it flu rite ovr mah hed. I r stooped. U r smrt. He didn't go "out of his way" - its called disproving. You made a claim, he disproved it. ya rly
  7. The same is said about you. It happend 6 monthes ago, and the developer was most assuredly not rude to you. Why do you keep bringing it up? Whats your secret agenda? You're still posting an inaccurate depiction of an event, which Dhruin is correcting. Ya can't play victim, champ.
  8. So, let me get this straight. First you post things about a game, which are both inaccurate and uninformed. The developer of said game, then comes and corrects you without any hint of abrasive or condescending tone. Following this, you continue to make the same claims, and the developer repeats his statements, albeit with a bit of irritation (which is utterly understandable). Then you come here, and say he is a prick, and when Dhruin calls you on it, now he has some sort of grudge against you? Sorry, but that boat don't float.
  9. Can it be done? Sure. Meant to be done? I'd say not.
  10. Instead of making comments like this, you should try adding something to the conversation. You obviously know how, since you did it in your second post. As for the original topic... whats in my PC? Home, office or laptop? Office? The jawesomest stuff imaginable. Lets just say I'm not using the minimum specs machine at the office. Home? Its been 3 years since I bought it, so I don't remember all the specs. Its a 3ghz hyper-threaded p4, nVidia 6800 GTX with 256mb, 1 gig of kingston RAM - I'll probably grab another stick of RAM from a cereal box, or something. Its dirt cheap nowaday. Laptop sucks. I only use it for checking e-mail on the go and typing up documents. So yeah, it sucks.
  11. What do you mean by sad? See, there are many types of "sad." For example the second theme from Easthaven, in IWD, is very depressing (the music for the return to Easthaven, when Belhifet has erected Crenshinnibon). However, if you didn't play IWD1, and hear the original version, it loses a cord. You don't exactly know WHY its sad, it just is. On the other hand, you could go with something from a movie, like the theme from when Gandolf falls in FotR, and the fellowship runs out of Moria, there is some fairly sad music. It is hard to say, really, one man's "depressing" music could be completely boring or without purpose on another person. If you put it in context for what kind of sad you're looking for it will be easier. Is it sadness caused by the loss of something? Is it a general depression because nothing ever goes right? Sad because something bad is about to happen, and you want to build up to it? There are a lot of types of moods, "sad" is too general.
  12. Torque http://www.garagegames.com/pg/browse.php?qtm=Torque Extremally versatile engine. It can seem a little overwhelming, at first, but it can do pretty much anything you want.
  13. If I were reading this, it would indicate to me that a wolf has a higher "mental" stat than a human, which shouldn't be the case. The description needs to be changed to cognition and precognition, otherwise you need to rename "mental" to "instinct." Mental should be things like "rubbing myself with dirt can throw off a wolf's sent." In fact, I would suggest you add an "Instinct" stat, with boars being the lowest, humans being in the middle and wolves being the highest. 1 = excellent survival, 5 = survive and hunt, 10 = excellent hunting. There is no "best" on this scale, instead it would provide queues based on the score. The closer the score is in relation to survival vs. hunting, the better the clues are on each. A 10 would get proactive hunting tips like "there is a valley ahead, valleys are good for traps." While a 0 would get "there is a valley ahead, staying out of valleys helps me to survive." Just some food for thought. Just because a game was simple does not mean things should be overly simplified. Otherwise you get things like Hades got above, wherein wolves appear to be smarter than humans.
  14. Absolutely. The first chance I get, I'm going to pitch some of my ideas to the dark overlords who rule Bethesda with an iron fist. First though, I have to meet them, and half the design staff. As for the art, Oblivion is a beautiful game. I don't see how it could be considered ugly, by any stretch of the imagination. As for Morrowind, it did a lot right, but a lot wrong; as with any game. The characters were forgettable, no doubt, the dialogue was impersonal, which lead to the NPCs being forgettable. I think Oblivion improves on this, despite its lack of "Standard" dialogue. Some NPCs are forgettable, and this is by design. You shouldn't remember every Tom, ****, and Harry you meet in the Imperial City, but the Radiant AI helps to bring them to life. You can see them going about their normal routine, talking to their neighbors, with each load yielding a slightly different dialogue. Sometimes it can yielf wonky things, and I suppose someone could fireball their own dog... I just don't think I've seen it happen. That'd sure teach him to stay off the couch, though.
  15. 1/16/2006 - Never Forget.
  16. Uhm... as is the case in many demos, that text does not appear in the game, and was made quickly as a tool to show what the engine is capable of. Whats next? You guys gonna make a comment on how pop-ups explaining how to use features in the game are breaking immersion? I've always liked how the Elder Scrolls games handled character creation, with you choosing things as you play through, allowing you to practice with them, then asking if you'd like to change anything at the end of character generation. That way if something does not function like you thought it would, you can change it quickly and practice with the changes some. That breaks immersion, though, so it needs to be omitted. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
  17. Not exactly. The "mood wheel" you refer to is the speechcraft skill menu. I'm not sure what I can say about it, at this time, but there is a lot of information available on the subject. Check the internets.
  18. Currently, I'm the low man on the totem pole. So nothing I say will really convince them to make ground-breaking changes, especially to Oblivion. Oblivion is now what Oblivion will be on release. With that said, what Oblivion does well it is great at. Future products, I can do my best, but I can't promise anything. Well thats not true, I could make all kinds of wild promises. Delivering on them is entirely a different matter. Hell, I just count myself lucky to work for Bethesda. I can try to be the unreasonable man, but that doesn't mean I'll be wildly succesful. Time will certainly tell.
  19. So only a Lvl10 character would stand a chance to dispatch even a lvl1 enemy with a single attack? How much does the health increase per level? I dont know how your modifiers are constructed, but it seems like the system would make last combat a very long time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Characters do not gain levels. Skills progress through usage. Health does increase a few different ways, but the maximum you can gain following creation is 15 health. I misspoke when I said 40 was the maximum HP at creation, that is the maximum health prior to picking race or traits. Race can increase it by up to 4, and traits can add another 4. So 48 would be the maximum hp at creation.
  20. Thats actually not a terrible way to go. My system only uses 2 type of die; d20 and d6. Damage is determined by rolling a d6, and adding the bonuses (These can be size, damage type, magical bonuses if you have magic weapons). Originally, when I was designing the system simply to be used with CRPGs, instead of d6, the random number gen. would roll the dice type, then I eliminated dice in favor of a "1 or 2" system, where weapon size/power level determined how many "2 sided dice" you got. This is what the old system looked like. EDIT: Table didn't work. Power Level / MP Cost / AP Cost / Damage 1 / 2 / 4 / 1d2 2 / 4 / 6 / 2d2 3 / 6 / 8 / 3d2 4 / 8 / 10 / 4d2 5 / 10 / 12 / 5d2 6 / 12 / 14 / 6d2 7 / 14 / 16 / 7d2 8 / 16 / 18 / 8d2 9 / 18 / 20 / 9d2 10 / 20 / 22 / 10d2 EDIT II: This time its personal. So, essentially, the highest tier of damage attainable with a single attack (before modifiers) is 20, which is approximately half the maximum attainable health at character creation. Weapons would only get as high as level 6 in terms of dice rolling, but with all the special maneuvers and "magic" bonuses you could easily trump a level 10 spell in terms of damage, you would just fatigue incredibly fast. If your endurance runs out and you continue attacking, you begin to lose health if you continue attacking. I use a form of phase-based combat, as well.
  21. Moderators = Old and busted. Regular members = New hotness.
  22. I created a rules system. Its new hotness. Combat is fast paced, and strategic. Slow downs only occur after a battle, when people tally up all the XP. The system was actually made for CRPGs, but testing it in PnP actually made me believe it was better for PnP. The system is fairly straightforward and characters end up entirely unique from one another.
  23. Well, that depends on what you mean by censor. If by censor you mean I am now bound by an NDA, yes.
