Yeah sorry, I had it backwards. Check out the article I posted, he elaborates on it much more clearly than I can while at work.

That's the problem, there are no good guys, but the Telecom industry is most assuredly the bad guys. They basically want us to pay for them to make money. The "Save the internet" link is the telecom guys.
-
Currently, there is discussion in the congress about the internet, and regulating it. Neither side is right, but there is this huge "Save the internet" movement based on fallacious and specious arguements made by the telecom industry.
-
Don't buy into that hype. You're not really "saving the internet" or "keeping it free." All you're really doing is giving your ISP the ability to charge for both ends of the internet, logging on and end access. http://americablog.blogspot.com/2006/05/net-neutrality.html http://www.savetheinternet.com/ http://www.dontregulate.org/ Josh Silver has this to say. "Save the internet" is a buzz word used to generate hype for a cause that actually hurts the internet. Don't take my word for it. Click the links and do your own research, but when the telecom industry, the industry you pay to access the internet, is preaching "Save the internet" it requires more than a casual glance. /PSA

360 has Mass Effect, Gears of War (simply awesome), FEAR, Star Trek: Legacy (which is awesome), Shadowrun, and a slew of other titles that looked amazing at E3. You can try to disregard Halo 3, but this ithread isn't about your opinion of games, it's about who you think will win. Halo 3 is a system-moving game, like it or not. You saw "more promise in the PS3 line-up?" Such as? Assassin's Creed was boring, for me at least. GoW2 is for PS2, so no need for me to get a PS3.
-
I did not see a single title that would make me want to buy a PS3. I just can't see people buying the Wii in big numbers... no one wants to be seen sword fighting in their living room by their neighbors. Microsoft wins, at least for me.

Tempers have cooled I think. NWN 2 DM Client
Shadowstrider replied to Judge Hades's topic in Computer and Console
Yutz. What difference does it make whether they release the DM client at launch and patch to fix later or release it some time later? So long as it has no added cost, what do you have to gripe about? They're not releasing an incomplete game. They're completing the game with a full toolset, and then adding new bells and whistles afterwards. I know it's too much to ask, but you really should think things through before you go on a rant about it. -
Plz remove Frag dolls from sig. kthxbye.

As I pulled up to the convention center, it was impossible to miss the enormous Neverwinter Nights 2 billboard elevated higher than the other notable signs hung on the West hall's entrance. I immediately thought "Wow, they must have an huge marketing budget for Neverwinter Nights 2." Then, when I walked inside, there were several smaller posters. I wanted to run over to a map and locate the Atari booth... but I had several things to do, so I went to my booth instead. When I finished up, I went to a map and located the Atari booth and began wander at a brisk pace. Despite the distractions (booth babes, bright lights, God of War 2, etc...), and the fact that the Atari booth had no noticeable placard of sign and the incredibly poor placement of the Atari booth (Atari was basically tucked away in an over-sized broom closet), I managed to find the booth and the Neverwinter Nights 2 kiosks. There were a pair of folk in Obsidian shirts, an attractive young lady and a man known only as "Scott," the mysterious bearded man who would give me a demo of the toolset... okay he wasn't bery mysterious, but he was bearded and a programmer. The toolset seemed very user-friendly. Cluttered at times, with "Scott" constantly dragging boxes in order for him to make room. He even apologized and stated "I'm used to having two monitors." At first this bothered me, but over time it became less of an issue. The toolset was fairly straightforward, drop, turn, scale, it seemed to work just like the original's, but with an added layer of ability. The particle effect editor did not live up to the "hype" in my eyes, but then again, maybe I didn't see everything in my demo. One thing which I wish I had take a look at is the conversation editor and script editor, and how the two worked with each other, but I did not have enough time to indulge myself. The game itself seemed unfinished, which shouldn't be a surprise since the game isn't finished. I noticed they were having a similar issue with tree shadows popping in and out as that found in Oblivion before release. I noticed the eyes seemed rather vacant and ugly, and the facial textures were too strong, the lines too clean and straight. The faces seemed to have very little curve, but rather very sharp features, something which did distract me a bit. I also have to say I was disappointed with the 3d portraits and UI in general. It seemed too stylized for my tastes, I preferred the more generic feel of the original. Overall, I'd have to say I liked Neverwinter Nights 2, and could tell iit will be a great title for the OC and the toolset, alike. If you hadn't noticed, I am mostly pointing out negatives on the graphics side; thats because in the (very short) window I had to mess around with the game, those were my biggest complaints. The game played fine, and there was very little writing to judge, so I can only really complain about the overall look of the game. The exteriors and interiors look great, and the combat seemed pretty easy to control. Based on my 20-30 minute demo, I'd have to say I'm excited for Neverwinter Nights 2, and believe the guys at Obsidian have definitely done a good job, but still have quite a lot of work ahead of them. P.S. invite to launch prty plz.

Have to say, I was pretty unimpressed with the Wii, I went back on day three to play around with it, and my original analysis was pretty accurate. Archery in Zelda was damn unintuitive. I can't imagine waiting in line for that. I went early (pre show open), and messed around with it. For me, Gears of War, Spore, Quake's Enemy Territory, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, and a select few other titles really stole the show. Double Agent was very, very impressive and had a lot of role-playing features, which surprised me. Can't see myself buying a Wii.

I actually took a look at the demo, and it wasn't bad.

Stop messing around with the booth girls!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wish, I spent most of my day working.

Also, I attribute the first sentence of my last post to drunkeness. Clearly, I remembered the game, but had already declared that I'd forgotten. In actuality, I turned to one of the other developers in my room and asked "whats the name of the wii sword fighting game?" P.S. The next person who asks me about Fallout at E3 they win a prize...
-
Yes. I can't recall the game, but the guy next to me was playing Red Steel, and we laughed at him because he kept dying. Then one of our devs stepped up to the plate and witnessed just how difficult it was to "correctly" play the game. *Shrugs* I might go in early, but I have an appointment before the show opens. We'll see.

I walked past the BioWare booth yesterday, but didn't go in. I believe it is closed to the public, possibly even press/media only, but I didn't bother trying to get in (was busy most of the day).

Upcoming Shadowrun game site opens
Shadowstrider replied to Diogo Ribeiro's topic in Computer and Console
A Playboy Playmate and a musician. -
Well, I was rather underwhelmed with the Wii. The controller seemed very difficult to handle "correctly" and it was most assuredly not accurate. The spatial recognition, as good as it was, did not really "wow" me. Could be cool, but at present I was rather unimpressed.

Upcoming Shadowrun game site opens

I spotted Jenny Macarthy and Dave Nevarro playing Shadowrun at E3, so it must be good, right? -
The day I met Llyranor! No... Wait! The day Llyranor met me!

Expected first NWN2 campaign game time
Shadowstrider replied to Atreides's topic in Computer and Console
25-30 on the first play. Most of my time will be spent on the toolset. -
"Hi. I've never played X, but X is a terrific game. Therefore, it deserves to be on PC because, as we all know, only kids and immature morons play consoles." Actually, Jade Empire is a piece o' crap, and wasn't worthy of any system. How a 15 hour game, without missing any sidequests can be rated above 7.0, I'll never know.

Like... together?

Slightly disappointed with some interface aspects. I think the floating font was too stark. I didn't get a really good feel for character looks from it, so I'll reserve my judgements on that. Everything else looked cool.

BREAKING NEWS: NEW BATCH OF NWN2 SCREENIES
Shadowstrider replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
Exteriors look great, the interiors, especially the hard wood flooring, looks too "clean." The texture looks flat and extremely ridgid. *shrugs* Not ugly, but not really appealing, either.
