Hold on, Zor. _I'm_ not arguing that Assad did it either. If you recall I put the case for it being jifs. I don't believe there is sufficient evidence to act decisively one way or another. But that doesn't mean the killings themselves didn't happen, or that we should just let it slide. Reflecting on your point I believe that a more coherent argument would be to assert that known stocks of chemical weapons should be removed from the equation by force. To prevent them being used by EITHER side. I would also suggest that a less ludicrous 'red line' be constructed, that includes an objective detection system to trigger the response.

Not necessarily. Just because she's cautious about meeting doesn't mean she automatically ain't real. If I had a female friend who was thinking about 'converting' an online relationship I'd advise her not to, if you see what I mean? So, I'd suggest you accept this has run it's course, and move on in a friendly way.

Kerry's Israeli/Palestinian peace talks
Well, a biblical pox on racialists everywhere, then.

If it helps, Hurlshot, you standing your ground means he won't grow up expecting everything to revolve around him, have a string of increasingly chaotic adventures through puberty, then adulthood. Get into various get rich quick schemes, get married, divorced, married again, and then finally slink into alcoholism and lastly a charge of gross indecency in a public place.

It's a conspiracy theory if the only thing you can provide by way of evidence is "X wants Y. Y happens, therefore X made it happen." That's simply not a rational way to perceive any sort of reality. Let alone geopolitics. If I want to go through a stop light, and it changes to green, does that make me a fething magician? ~ Hilde: Let's be quite clear. I don't say that US foreign policy is sensible or omniscient. I'm not saying that they wouldn't quite like to have a go at Iran, because they're holding a knife to an oil artery. All I'm currently saying is three things, and I think I share them with Obama: 1. Globally the international community can't just wish things to happen and cross its fingers 2. One of the things it is currently wishing for and not doing anything about is a total moratorium on the use of chemical weapons on civilians 3. Striking Assad, when Assad is on the ascendant does not automatically result in an extremist win. Indeed the hope is that if weakened he will try to sit down with t moderates in earnest and instigate some reforms in order to unite against the fundis. The only point where we differ is wanting both proof and a god damned plan of action. Post-Iraq I feel the public or at least Parliament/Congress are justifiably skeptical on both points.

Awesome. It really was just appallingly weak and sleazy. Expertly mocked.

I was just about to say that my 'back to the shop floor' s going really well, that I've gelled and am getting nearly up to the same speed and reliability as my colleagues. One fellah even had a rant against 'college types' then graciously excused me from the criticism as being "alright" But have just realised I have two long burns on my arm I didn't even notice. So obviously not as swish as I thought.

It's hardly normal Israeli behaviour to want to trade Assad, in spite of his interference in Lebanon, for some unknowable regime. Is it, HIlde? The only narrative I can come up with for the Israelis trying to bring the US in is to try and force Obama to rely on them for support. This would dial back him sidling away from them whistling Dixie. But that's me practically fictioneering. As for a youtube video showing extremists among the rebels what does that prove we didn't know already? Just saying.

Bloody odd coincidence. We were discussing this last night.

Settle down, Zor. It's stretching the definition of slave to suggest that playing the US' game makes you a slave. The important part about being a slave is that you don't have a choice. It's not like millions of Africans were shipped overseas because they thought that in the long run they'd benefit from improved trade, security, and investment opportunities.

Kerry's Israeli/Palestinian peace talks
I guess I should be polite and say thank you for explaining, Oerwinde. But every time he starts talking about jews I swear I can hear metal scraping on concrete, as down a long corridor. It's bloody eerie.
