Epiphany is a cut-and-paste poster, admittedly so. He finds the opinions of other people, posts them here, and stands by them fervently. I don't expect to get much new from him until he sees a new article or post on another forum that he can throw at us. Epiphany did turn out to be half-right on something though. He was adamant that XBox 360 would get HD-DVD drives. He also suggested all XBox 360's would. Not all of them will, but Bill Gates did announce the 360's shipping later in Japan would have the HD-DVD drive. I imagine later 360 units in the US will as well. But in Japan there are more HDTVs, so I imagine the feature is more important there.

Bingo. Halo ripped off it's entire concept from Half Life. The brain-eaters, combat suit and overall feel are directly stolen from Half Life. Except Half Life did the whole thing much better years before, and Half Life 2 makes Halo 2 look really pathetic in comparison. 99% of the time, when I speak to Halo fans, they have never played a PC FPS game on a LAN. Someone said in this thread Halo got everything right. Here are some obvious and fatal flaws in the game that keeps it from being great. Halo advertised great enemy AI. Halo 2's AI was improved, but Halo had typical poor AI. The level design was horrid in both games. Flat out out horrid. Everything was quite boring and repetetive. Download some fan-made custom maps for the game and experience a world of difference. People rave about the story, but in truth the game has very little story, and Halo 2 has a worse ending than KOTOR:2. Play Half Life and then tell me that Halo has an incredible story. Combat was not balanced. Vehicles are overpowering to the point that having them in any multiplayer game ruins the chances of anyone in a vehicle. The weapons were not balanced. Bungie admits this and nerfed the pistol in Halo 2 for this very reason. Goldeneye also gets hailed as a truly great FPS game by tons of players as well. Let me clue you in on a little secret. Multiplayer FPS games are generally much more fun than single player FPS games. For the larger market, many people haven't played many FPS games multiplayer before XBox Live. So when they get to play a game like Halo or Goldeneye, many of these players are having their first experiences of split-screen coop or deathmatch modes. They herald the entire game as being perfect because of the amount of fun they had. In reality, there are much better multiplayer FPS games out there, and they haven't played them. If you think I can't be objective or want to bash Halo unfairly, it should be noted that I bought both Halo games, and I am willing to point out the game's strengths. For instance, the music is extremely well done in both games.

I'll have to try that. I've never got those.

Imagine Goldeneye. Now take away most of the weapons, and play the same repetitive levels, and add in vehicles. That's basically Halo. If is not a bad game, but not a great one.

Didn't you also defend GURPS 4 attributes? Apparetly Diablo is a true RPG with its random instinced quests and dungeons as well. The SNES dialogue system was basically the same as one used in games like Morrowind, which won tons of Game of the Year awards. I have seen worse.

Honestly, I had more diffiuclt fights in KOTOR:2, namely when my main PC wasn't in the party, such as Atton fighting the Twin Suns and Mira fighting to escape. Bandon, Malak and the like were wimps.

Do you think Kotor Was A waste?
EnderAndrew replied to DARTHPON's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The game won RPG of the Year awards so it wasn't a complete bombshell. The reality is that when the game was in development, fans on this board did scream for an early release. I suggested an early release would hurt the game. Most people didn't seem to want to wait longer. And LucasArts didn't seem to want to pay to finish the game. -
Will Darque gush over the Master Chef? Sorry, couldn't resist myself. I find Halo to perhaps be the most overrated franchise in video games.

In the end this is a game and we shouldn't forget that. -
Why should anyone be excited about the Revolution? Only one confirmed title in development, weak hardware and no features that really make me excited. The only real announced feature I've heard is the ability to buy old Nintendo games, again. They keep retreating the same games. I imagine we will also see more N64 titles rereleased on the DS as well. I'll pass.

The SNES version had the same skills, attributes and karma based character development. The SEGA version consisted mainly of random instanced missions that you repeated into monotony. Is that what you call more of a true RPG? In both versions you had to point in the right direction to shoot something, but your firearms skill governed whether or not you succeeded in hitting.

What can I say? We're both geeks, but at the same time we're both sports nuts.

Sarah just watched Stewart Little the other night just so she could stare at Hugh Laurie. He was also in the incredible Black Adder.

The SEGA Shadowrun was more faithful, but I wouldn't call it better.

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
EnderAndrew replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
No one knows how long Sidious had been around, but consider he went from basically practically being one individual, a lone Sith in a Jedi-controlled universe and controlled it. That is pretty impressive if you ask me. Many of the other Sith lords held power and controlled worlds on the backs of thousands and thousands of other Sith. -

The unfortunate aspect of this game is knocking out players. I can honestly say I enjoy the group we have, and I feel a tinge of guilt each turn as I attack my fellow players. I wish all the players were in the game until the end. I understand that games often have winners and losers, but actually knocking people out in early stages isn't that fun. Futhermore, Arch is right that often you are well aware of your despise a few turns before it happens. While I think it doesn't really hurt to submit moves, even if in futility, I know it isn't fun. -
Obsidian Forum Diplomacy Game 2 (OBS-2)
EnderAndrew replied to metadigital's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
I feel bad that it will penalize the good players, and delay the game. At the same time, the game should be enjoyable. Right now, three nations didn't move initially, which gives a few other nations a healthy head start on siezing some of the uncontrolled supply centers. The game would become one sided pretty quick. Actual diplomacy wouldn't mean as much as pure attrition and I believe that defeats the true purpose of the game. And for the record, whether we continue as is or reset to the Spring, Turkey looks forward to establishing diplomatic relations with the other countries in play. -
I don't think so. Carth had been tracking the Exile, but I don't believe he had found him at that point.

I like "moving" images. Stare at the center dot and lean your face in and out.

As far as I know last quarter both Sony and MS reported profits, though Sony and MS are expected to post losses when the new consoles ship.
