As I picture it, you will goals to accomplish in each stage of the game. Once you beat one stage, you have new and seperate goals in the next stage. Thusly your performance in previous stages is more of a pass/fail type of thing, rather than a snowball effect. Obviously your choices in the early stages affect the later stages on a cosmetic effect. You could have underwater cities if your critter decides to live underwater. However, I'm not sure choosing an idealized set of features in the early stages of the game will make the later stages easier.

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/civili...ew_6129411.html This is a damned fine article, and the most informative one I've seen on the game.

You raise an interesting point. Will doing extremely well, or not doing so well in one phase of the game affect the later stages as strongly since the mechanics and focus of gameplay shifts through various stages?

I was kidding.

Finally, my opinions/suggestions of KOTOR 2
EnderAndrew replied to Eight_Nunb's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I agree that the story did revolve around the villians quite a bit it KOTOR:2, and far more so than in KOTOR:1. I also think that T3 was more of a pimp in KOTOR:2, both power wise and character wise. Welcome to the forums, BTW. -
She has the right to disagree with my taste, even though it makes her wrong. :darque:

I also played a child molestor in The Butterfly Effect. I try to forget that.

Sexiest chic from Star Wars?
EnderAndrew replied to DarkAngle's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yep. Keira Knightley was the main Padme impostor/stand-in. -
Oddly enough the dual-wielding didn't come until Halo 2. That was basically the one "improvement" in the sequel. Some sequel.

The question is, can I respect Hugh Laurie with his incredible resume being sullied with Spice World?

Russian Hegemony a Reality Moscow (AP) - Two years ago Tzar Ender Wiggin the Great rose to power with a historic speech. In that speech he made a national No Pants holiday, but he also rose to power not only as Russian leader, but a world leader. On the anniversary of his succession, The Great One spoke about Russia's role in European politics. "There is a sickness in Europe. It is born from fear, unrest and weakness. I entered office on the verge of war, but I have kept combat from our homeland, and kept our nation safe. As I predicted, Russia has been thrust because of our strength and powerful leadership, into the mantle of a Hegemony. We bring welcome peace and unity throughout the land." Detractors questioned Russia's motives, calling Russia a bully who invades other sovereign nations on whims. The Tzar did not back down from such tough questions. He openly answered them saying, "the people of each of these nations lived in fear due to the weak leaders and generals of such nations. Such dogs carried fleas, and we have merely cleaned the streets of such mutts, providing a safer way of life for all people." The detractors where then shot in completely random and unrelated acts of violence that will no doubt be ruled as suicide upon later review. Clearly, anyone whom in a moment of weakness questioned the pristine record of Tzar Ender Wiggin the Great would no doubt find no point in living after having their folly pointed out to them. Vodka and perogies were served and the bodies were removed as the Tzar's celebration/press conference continued. -
The shortcomings of the PS3 is that the architecture is extremely different to program for. There are developer kits and APIs to make programming for the PS3 easier, but we don't have finished games in our hands to see how that will work out. I should have also mentioned in my previous post that the PS3 can put out a 1080p image, in fact it can put out two different 1080p pictures if you have two high-end displays.

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions

The Sith can manipulate, and we want to see more of that. I think Palpatine was best at it. Kreia was antagonistic and somewhat obvious. Palpatine was better IMO. -
Malachor is probably the worst area in both games if you ask me.

I don't believe commenting on a posting style is necessarily an attack. As far as your questions go, let me address them one by one. Launch consoles are rarely champions of reliability. The PS2 is famous for shoddy DVD drives and deservedly so, but the early Thompson DVD drives in the XBox are pretty bad as well. After a good cleaning my PS2 drive works, and is older than my XBox. However my XBox DVD drive is still working horribly after a good cleaning. These guys will look for ways to cut back on hardware costs and I don't know that you can expect quality in specific components from either one. As far as optical surround, both support it and should quite well. Yet some feel they both step backwards a bit in sound, but having the sound go through the CPU rather than a dedicated audio chip. I don't know if the PS2 had a dedicated audio chip though I assume it did. I know the XBox did. Sony and M$ claim the PS3 and 360 have CPU processes to spare, and thusly audio processing As far as DVD quality, the PS3 gets my vote with the Blu-Ray DVD drive. The 360 and PS3 are both currently slated for 20 gig HDDs, with removable HDD bays. Many expect larger HDD options for both consoles. Epiphany seems convinced Sony will scrap the HDD, and simply make it optional, but they haven't said anything to actually suggest that.

I'm hoping as well.

Where is Oola? Here are some more Star Wars babes, though some more notable Female Jedi are missing from the list. http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/610/610816p1.html -
I don't think we're getting an RPG at all since they said they were making a FPS game and not a hybrid.

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
EnderAndrew replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
We don't know how powerful Palpatine is in pure power. George Lucas has suggested that Palpatine and Anakin were pretty much as powerful as Force Users ever got. The EU suggests Exar Kun was probably top dog. But honestly, I'd be more scared of Palpatine than Exar Kun because his force ability and manipulation skills are both right up there. -
Star Wars or Matrix with GURPS rules
EnderAndrew replied to Jediphile's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
Special handled this very simply and quite well. The number of action points you had was directly influenced by stats. That is simple enough. If you do complex counter-measures, something like Wits might be used to govern your ability to respond and counter-attack. -

I say we get back on actual discussion about Spore. The game does merit some serious discussion. I haven't watched the 30 minute video, but from what I read, it goes from simple Pac-Man mini-games in the beginning to complex Civilization and Sim City management in the middle stages of the game. Given the complexity in the rendering engine, and how unique models and animations must be made on the fly, and the many varied stages of gameplay they are shooting for, does anyone believe the middle stages of complex management have any shot of being good or balanced?

I owned both of the early Oddworld titles on the PS1 and loved them. I played Munch's Oddysee at a game kiosk in a WalMart for 5 minutes, and it didn't seem to have the dark humor and Oddworld feel to it. I never tried Stranger's Wrath.

Why do you say that? They haven't announced titles for the Revolution. I feel the Cube has really suffered from the lack of titles and 3rd party development. That isn't fixed. The Cube seemed to recycle alot of N64 games. The SNES reinvented many NES franchises, and on the N64 most of those franchises went 3D and were reinvented again. The Cube gave us N64 games with better graphics. Compare F-Zero, Super Smash Brothers, and Mario Kart on both consoles and you'll see what I'm talking about. Sure the new versions had new content, but did we really need to pay $50 a pop, plus the cost of the console if the games didn't really feel next-gen? Has Nintendo demonstrated that will change? No. They keep recycling NES and SNES titles on the GBA, and now they are recycling N64 titles on the DS. To top that if off, the only real announced feature of the Revolution is that I can buy old Nintendo games over again. The actual strength of the console is supposed to be changing the way we play games. Except they can't tell us what this brilliant feature is.

I just say in the stores the Half Life Platinum Pack is still being sold. I don't know if update servers will still update old-school Half Life. Countrer Strike 1.6 can only be played via Steam. So I imagine the last version of non-Steam Counter Strike is 1.5 something.
