  1. You might want to consider adding "X-Men: Legends" to that list. No one has heard of it, or played it, but Kung Fu Kaos (available for $10-20) is quite possibly the funniest, and most addictive video game I've ever played. And it's X-Box only.
  2. Look. I'm really anti-Microsoft. But, it's hard to hate the X-Box. It has a nicer DVD player than the PS2. It has nicer graphics than the PS2. It ships out of the box with network support, a HDD, and support for four controllers. Graphics are better on the X-Box. It's not huge, but play the same game on the two platforms and you'll notice the difference. (Madden, Baldur's Gate: DA, whatever) And GameCube? No DVD support. No online play. No HDD. Poor game selection, and more expensive games. Most of the games available on the GC are games that were originally on the X-Box or PS2, and are more expensive on the GC. I own all three consoles because I want to play any game I want with no restriction, but the X-Box is lightyears ahead of the GC. I sit down with my X-Box system linked to other X-Boxes, and play 16 player games of Halo, yelling across the house at the other players. It doesn't cost me an extra penny. GC multiplayer games these days require you to also own multiple GameBoy Advance SPs. I still love my PS2 because of the INCREDIBLE game selection. Trust me on this issue. Let go of your anger and hatred towards other gaming consoles. It leads to flames. Flames lead to worn-out keyboards. Broken keyboards lead to computer-deprivation, which leads to Kevin Bacon, which leads to the Dark Side.
  3. I love self-referential jokes. An entire movie about Jay and Silent Bob? Who would watch that?
  4. Look. I read in a book once that there are only really 38 plots. Every story can be broken down as one of these 38 plots. It holds fairly true. Nothing is truly original in this world. I wasn't really suprised by the Revan thing, but in fairness, I was warned that there was a twist, so I expected it. Had no one mentioned that a twist was coming, I probably would have been suprised. Good plot twists are like magic tricks, it's all about misdirection. Everyone is so focused on Revan and the last game, that they'll never see the new twist coming. That's the way it should be. I could seriously speculate, but I'd prefer to be suprised.
  5. I lurked here for months. Then for some reason I couldn't register. The reason I spend so much time at these forums now is because I have some foolish fantasy that the dev's might actually incorporate our feedback into the game. However, the childish arguments that permeate this board make we wonder.
  6. The problem with buying an Uber-uncut DVD of Kill Bill is two-fold. 1). You'll have a really lengthy movie that doesn't flow. Watching parts 1 and 2, I can't imagine these were once the same movie. The pacing, dialogue, tone and direction are very different. 2). QT's ego is insanely inflated as is. The guy is a pretty decent director, but he's also a huge plagurist, horrible actor and a jerk. I admit Resevior Dogs and Kill Bill are both good movies, but people need to stop worshipping the ground QT walks on.
  7. Since A Perfect Circle was formed, "Super-Bands" are becomming more popular. Too bad Tapeworm broke up before releasing anything.
  8. You conquer the galaxy, and take the mantle of Sith Lord, only to have your army beaten by Ewoks.
  9. Torment certainly had it's painful and evil choices. I hope KOTOR:TSL will as well.
  10. Right before your final march against the last Sith Lord, a paddy wagon comes by and arrests everyone. Or... You find out that Revan never existed. You were Revan, not by amnesia, but rather Revan was your split personality leading this cult called "The Sith" to some large scale anarchist/terrorist plan to blow up Coruscant. Only by taking a lightsaber to your own face will you rid the galaxy of Revan. Or... Just as you are about to kill the final Sith Lord, the officers of precrime preempt your attack, and force a happier ending on everyone. Or... Darth Blonde goes nuts, and starts shooting everyone. No one lives.
  11. I'd just like to point out that it was on a recent replay of Planescape: Torment that I was unable to get out of the first room. Also, I conferred with Mr. Spitzley about this, and he's confirmed that this appears to be some sort of strange bugs, not another thing to add to my list of shortcomings. This was meant as a friendly ribbing, like the Feargus comments I made.
  12. EGM said 7 planets, CGW said 5 worlds, which is it? Does Peragus count as one of the worlds? Semi-official answer: Telos, Dantooine, and Peragus have been mentioned by the devs. I haven't seen an official count of planets though. Will there be cheats? Semi-official answer: Akari mentioned that cheats are often debug tools left in by the team. So I guess the answer to this question likely won't be known until they are farther along in testing the game. Still, doesn't hurt to ask. Will the swoop bikes also be upgradable? Ender's note: In the same post where this was asked originally, it was also asked if you could upgrade the Ebon Hawk. Avellone said a definate no to the Ebon Hawk, but didn't say anything about swoops. Is it fair to assume that the devs are considering making this a feature, but don't want to promise anything? I want to thank the devs for answering the questions they already have. Many companies promise certain features, but are reticent to say that a feature isn't being included. I also don't mind a response of "we can't say yet" or "we're not sure, we're debating". It's better than no answer.
  13. I haven't seen it personally. It wouldn't suprise me too much. Heck, the X-Box comes standard with a HDD which helps. Also, is it just me or did Microsoft start skimping on the HDD when the dropped the price on the console. I could have sworn the console had a 10 gig HDD originally, and new consoles are shipping with an 8 gig HDD. I may thrown down the money and buy the HDD for my Playstation if I can save to it directly in games, and copy music to it like the X-Box. Edit - here's the link to the Linux kit for the PS2
  14. You can easily turn the Dreamcast into a virtual PC for the express purpose of running emulators on your TV. Been there, done that. You can also buy a Linux kit for your Playstation that turns the console into a virtual computer.
  15. The last thread fell apart. Not to mention, that the point of a sticky is to allow someone new to the forum to quickly find pertinent information quickly without reading the whole forum. At 33 pages plus, the thread fails in that regard. I haven't collected every piece of information on the game (Craftman's FAQ is better suited to that, and I don't want to step on his toes). He incorporate all this into the FAQ if he so desires. I've also seen magazine articles and other sources be inaccurate so far. What I have done is collect many of the Dev's official responses to common questions, as well as some unanswered questions. Perhaps we can replace the old sticky thread with the shorter, condensed version? Also, if the thread were easier to read (less cluttered with off topic arguments of which many of are guilty) then perhaps we are more likely to get information from the dev team. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Story/Characters How dark can TSL be? In KotOR Taris and Dantooine are both destroyed no matter what path you take. So I guess making the game "darker" would be making more destruction like that, no matter what path you take. A darker story doesn't necessarily mean more mass destruction. Sometimes it's the more personal tragedies that make the mood more somber or 'dark'. In saying that, keep in mind that I actually don't know a whole lot of the story of the game. Most of it is in the designers' heads more than in docs, and I don't have a lot of time to read story docs to begin with. Too busy coding. But I know how Avellone writes, and I do know a few details or ideas that are going to happen. -Akari We are trying to create more dark side options so you don't have to be "psychotic evil". -John Morgan Will the game prompt you to ask NPCs what is wrong like KOTOR? There will be no instances in K2 where you will be prompted by the game to ask a CNPC what's wrong. Any issues or problems the CNPC has can be brought up if you ask them, or will occur in a context-relevant event. There will be instances where they initiate conversation with you, but it won't always be about their companion quest or whatever problems they're having. -Chris Avellone Devs will there be battle scenes where ALL of your party is fighting? I can safely say no, though there may be moments where most of them are trying to pound the crap out of a particularly bad foe, but having full control over all of them won't happen. -Chris Avellone Will there be Selkath, Rakata, Ewoks or the like in KOTOR:TSL? I wouldn't mind a Selkath (there are no Selkath planned for K2, however), but there will be no Rakata in K2. I thought the Selkath were pretty cool - that creepy voice made them perfect. -Chris Avellone No Ewoks or Jawas. Or Gungans. Or any of the pod-racing aliens. -Chris Avellone I heard the guy on the start screen for KOTOR:TSL changes. Is this random? It isn't randomized, no. As to the # of Sith Lords, it isn't one per planet, but thats all I'll say on that. As to your character appearing there... hm.... -Akari Will the main character have amnesia? The player does not have amnesia, does not start the game with amnesia, does not get amnesia over the course of the game, and he/she is quite clear who, what, and where he is at all times. Nor does he/she have any problems with memory, lurking pseudo-personalities, multiple personality disorders, submerged personalities, or any personality problems except what you induce through gameplay by being a nice guy, a jerk, or both. -Chris Avellone Will I be able to play a non-human as my main character? PC is human only, male or female, like the first game. -Chris Avellone I heard there isn't going to be romance in KOTOR:TSL Is this true? His wording was 'aren't tied solely to romance'. He wasn't saying that there isn't going to be any, but that the NPC interactions are going to be based on more than just romance. -Akari CGW says you'll have 10 npcs to choose from, but it also says that you will get different ones depending if yoru light, dark, male, female....so does that mean there are more than 10 npcs that will join you, in total? Yes. -Akari The total number of NPCs you can get going through a particular path of the game is 10. But there are more than 10 total potential NPCs in the game. You will never reach a situation where you are forced to chose what NPC to get rid of because you've run out of party slots. -Akari To be honest, the TOTAL number of possible NPCs is still in a state of flux right now. There isn't a finalized number. And even if they were, I'd probably leave it to designer descretion to give the number out. -Akari What is the underlying theme in KOTOR2? We aren
  16. Bun-Bun from www.sluggy.com make a great Sith.
  17. I played Rouge Squadron on the N64, and the PC. The PC version looked MUCH better, even if the software was programmed to take advantage of 3dFX, and thusly favored Voodoo cards over ATI. I also own Rouge Squadron II on the GC. The games were entertaining, however the pale when compared to true 3D Space-Flight and complex controls in the X-Wing series of games. Playing Rouge Squadron after an X-Wing game is like putting training wheels on a Harley. And after all, this was just my opinion. Force Commander had a few good ideas, but the game tried to be EVERYTHING. Scale the game. Either be Galactic Battlegrounds, or control a fleet of ships like Star Trek's Armada series. Don't try to do both at the same time. EDIT - I noticed that the Ocular Syphilis option is becoming more popular in the poll. I'm kinda curious how the people who voted for that know what ocular syphillis feels like. Just a suggestion, don't visit the same brothel that Morte just visited.
  18. I take my earlier comments back. After hunting, I did find a dev confirming levels above 20, but did not state a specific level cap.
  19. Will I be able to cut-off limbs?
  20. Say what you will about Lucas and the Prequels, but I think Palpatine is a fine Sith.
  21. Stop talking about my woman like that. She LOVES me!
  22. Power Battles was decent multiplayer, but Bushido Blade was much more popular amongst most of my friends, and a lot of them are big Star Wars fans. I just frankly have to disagree with you on the Episode 1 game. While I tried to defend the decent aspects of the movie, I really didn't like the video game. The graphics were piss-poor for the time, the controls were poor, and the gameplay seemed an after-thought. The game closely resembles the movie as far as plot, but that is it's only strength. (Then again, is that a strength?) You'll note the Episode 1 game didn't sell at all, where as Racer sold fifty times more copies.
