  1. In response to the Goth Drama Queens, I present the lyrics from A Perfect Circle's song, "The Outsider" Medicated, drawn away, picture perfect, no more legiments Narcisistic, drawn away, craving fame and all this decadance Lying through your teeth again Suicidal imbecile Think about it, put it on the fautline What'll it take to get it through to you precious Come to this, why do you wanna throw it away like this Such a bitch, why do I wanna watch you Disconnect and self destruct one woman at a time What's your rush now, everyone will have his day to die They were right about you They were right about you Lying to my face again Suicidal imbecile Think about it put it on the fautline What'll it take to get it through to you precious Come on to this , why do you wanna throw it away like this Such a bitch, come to this, come to this Disconnect and self destruct, one woman at a time What's your hurry, everyone will have his day to die If you choose to pull the trigger, should your karma prove sincere, Do it somewhere far away from here
  2. I don't have legs to dance, I don't have lungs to breathe, I don't have a life to live or die, and yet I do all three. What am I?
  3. Now that the 12 hours are up, I'm sorry but you were mistaken. The hat is black. If #1 or #2 had seen the other two black hats or two white hats, they would have known without a doubt the color of their hat. So they each saw one white, and one black. We know that for a fact. If #3 had a white hat like you suggested, it couldn't have worked out. You're suggesting that #1 had black, #2 had black, and #3 had white. #1 sees #2 having black, and #3 having white. He can't say. #2 sees #1 having black, and #3 having white. But he also knows that #1 had to see off colors, so #2 would know that he had the other black hat. The only solution is with #1 and #2 both having white hats, and #3 having a black hat.
  4. While I love playing soccer, it is horrid to watch. I think people don't understand or appreciate American football unless they play it. There is far more strategy involved in football than any sport I've ever played. And at the same time you have 11 individual battles of behemoths on every down. It's the perfect TV sport, with time between plays to analyze the action, yet provides enough action to remain interesting (as opposed to baseball). Also, check out this article on Shaq. Shaq
  5. Here's the problem. Historically both groups had a right to the land. And due to WWII, the entire European map got shifted around. After the Holocaust, many Jews needed new homes. These are a people that have forcibly moved many a time, and been victims of slavery, prejudice and genocide. Like I said. People can debate one way or another whether they had a right to split the land. That's a tough call. However, the fact remains that the UN told them to split the land. One side has responded with terrorism and threats of genocide. They don't get any sympathy here. If Palestine turned to the security council, and pleaded their case as victims that couldn't stand up to Isreal's mighty army, people would listen. I would listen. But they haven't played fair. You don't get any brownie points for murdering children.
  6. I'm confused. I thought you're upset that Isreal supposedly kills innocent civilians, but now you say that innocent civilians don't exist. And frankly, I've never seen the Isreali government kill or target civilians, period. I think you may be a little confused. It is the Palestinian terrorist organizations like Hammas that like to bomb civilians. They're fond of shopping malls and busses in particular, and often kill children. The Isreali government responds by targeting Hammas offices, or the Palestinian government. The Palestinian government often claims that the members of Hammas are innocent civilians (not belonging to the government) or that civilians are also hit in the blast. I don't know 100% if they are victims of "collateral damage" or not. What I do know is that many Palestinian organizations have been vocal about the desire to see every Jew killed. I find it very difficult to have sympathy for an organization that practices terrorism and admits to genocidal fantasies. We can debate about the rights and wrongs regarding the formation of Isreal, but I think what occurs in Isreal today is pretty clear-cut. The UN set-up a country, and told two people two share a piece of land. One side builds the land up, and turns desert into a veritable oasis, and is ordered to continually give land to the other. The other side refuses to make compromises, has done nothing over the past 30 years about terrorism, and kills civilians. Why does the world have sympathy for when the United States or Spain is a victim of terrorism, and none for Isreal?
  7. The D20 ruleset in general is part of Wizard of the Coast's Open Gaming License. They're pretty open with it.
  8. The devs have been willing to give a flat no when the answer is no. MCA said they were exploring various levels of the mentor/apprentice relationship, and didn't say no to having an apprentice character. I'd bet money it's a part of the story.
  9. What happened if you put a flower in the oven? I think you'd have a dead flower. People kill flowers all the time. This would just expedite the process. Oh, and FU = Feargus Urqhart and MCA = Mister Chris Avellone. I use the abbreviations because I'm lazy and extremely dyslexic. I don't want to mispell and butcher their names (which I may have).
  10. I think Star Wars RPG dueling would be fine. But Revan vs Revan vs Revan vs Revan? All the characters are Jedi. All had the same options to pick up the same equipment over the course of the game. The characters would largely be the same.
  11. I think such a feature would be an after-thought if it were to get thrown in. Thusly, the rest of the game wouldn't be built around this feature from the beginning, and the game would suffer for it.
  12. I don't think the Perfect Game exists. And normally, I prefer freedom in character creation. However, I loved Planescape Torment despite this. A good RPG is more than a feature-set.
  13. Color me crazy. A.I. wants out of Philly. I can see him in LA. They want to build a team around Kobe, and around offence. LA will build a team that focuses on quick transitions and quick outside shooting. Kobe and A.I. would put up enough shots on offence for five people.
  14. This is not the case. Innocent civilians were targetted from the beginning. When the Twin Towers were bombed the first time, the terrorists wanted to fly planes into them, but couldn't pull it off. There are books on the subject. The terrorists were quite vocal about wanting to hit the twin towers. You think both planes missed and hit the Twin Towers by accident? New York isn't just next door to D.C. by the way.
  15. Pedro ran the jail in Veracruz, Mexico. It was Christmas Eve and he had only three prisoners. Feeling benevolent for the holiday season, Pedro decided to give each prisoner the opportunity to go free "Boys, I want to give you a chance to go free. As you can see, I have in my hand three white hats and two black hats. I am going to blindfold each of you then put one of these hats on each of your heads. If you can tell me for sure what color hat you have on, you can go free and never return to my jail again." Pedro blindfolded the men, placed one hat on each of their heads, put the two remaining hats out of sight in his office, then returned to the holding cell Pedro entered the cell and removed their blindfolds. Each prisoner could see the other two prisoners and their hats, but they could not see their own hat or its color Pedro then said, "OK, prisoner #1, can you tell me for sure what color is your hat?" The first man looked at hat #2 then hat #3. He thought for a while then said, "No, I can not tell for sure the color of my hat." "Well, unfortunately for you, prisoner #1, you must serve out your sentence in my jail. Now prisoner #2, can you tell me for sure what color is your hat?" Prisoner #2 looked at the hat on Prisoner #1, then looked at the hat on prisoner #3. He thought for a long while then said, "I am sorry. I can not tell for sure the color of my hat" Pedro then said, "This is sad. All three of you must stay in my jail and serve out your sentences." Prisoner #3 interrupted and said, "But, Pedro, you did not ask me if I know the color of my hat." Pedro said, "Because you are totally blind I did not ask you." Prisoner #3 responded, "I may be totally blind, but I know FOR SURE the color of my hat" What color was prisoner #3
  16. I agree. Prince put the lock down on Kobe.
  17. When Scottie, Jordan and Phil left Chicago, they left nothing behind. If LA is stupid enough to trade Shaq to placate a baby (who may be in jail next year) who just lost them the Finals, they at least get something in return. The triangle wasn't LA. The problem is LA will likely try to immitate Sacromento and Dallas, but that won't win you championships either.
  18. And for the record, there have been many great Empires in history. However, consider this. With the Egyptian Empire, everyone was converted to be Egyptian. The Babylonian Empire controlled their whole known world, and everyone was Babylonian. When the Greeks and Romans conquered, they subsumed or replaced culture. When England established the British Empire, they didn't completely replace the nationality or culture of the people there. Historial Empires also lacked instant global communications. It's hard to rule a location thousands of miles away. The Babylonian Empire is the most underrated Empire in history, and the American Empire is a unique beast forged by economics.
  19. I'm sorry I've been absentee as of late. Real life can be a pain some days. I love these types of questions. Martin Luther had already made his points. He begun the underground translation of the Bible. And arguably, the Calvanists really kick-started the Protestant revolution though Luther was more on the right track. However, I don't think Luther recanting would have made a big difference. The Church of England was greated to satiate the whims of a King. It had nothing to do with true reform. The Catholic Church split the "New World" up between Spain and Portugal, and no one paid the Church mind. The Church's power was invalidated. And the Puritans who left for the New World didn't have Rome looking over their shoulders. And despite Protestanism and the Church losing much of it's political power, Catholicism remains VERY popular world-wide. I don't really see a huge difference. In the early stages of WWII, the United States very much wanted nothing to do with it. Some historians claim that the United States had broken Japanese code and knew Pearl Harbor was coming. This is debated. Some say we knew a large attack was coming, but didn't know the particulars. What I do know, is that we ordered the base on holiday, and left our fleet relatively undefended. The Arizona sank, but it was about to be decomissioned. We now had an excuse to build a navy we couldn't afford before WWII started. Mexico's military has never been all that impressive. Even after Pearl Harbor, not all Americans really supported sending troops to battle Germany in Europe. We had a bad taste in our mouth with all the troops lost in WWI. If Mexico tried to invade US soil, you better believe this country would have been more unified in the war support. Perhaps fewer troops would have gone over to Europe, but the numbers of troops weren't the real key. Omaha Beach is a fine example of this. Instead of allowing a small number of Marines to take the beach using stealth, an Army General decides to send large number of soldiers to the slaughter. We take the beach, but only by having a large number of troops serve as fodder for the machine guns. If push had come to shove, a small number of troops using different tactics could have achieved the same result. Similiarly, large troop tactics were used in Beleau Woods unsuccessfully, and ultimately a small number of troops liberated the woods (and thusly Paris) from the threat of Germany. One could contend that fewer troops would have shipped for Europe, but overall I think more people would have signed up for the war effort. This is a good one. However, I'm picturing the Korean War here. Let's say Eisenhower pushes for Berlin. Stalin wasn't about to give up on this. We tested the water briefly, and he wasn't budging. The start of new hostilities, with our allies none the less would have sent the American public into a panic. Fighting wouldn't last too long before Eisenhower would be forced to back out. The only question I see is how the fighting goes in the first place. If he took Berlin to begin with, I see a compromise of splitting Berlin as Eisenhower backs out. If Stalin has Berlin by means of force, it stays that way.
  20. Anyone who sits here and claims to know and understand the motivations of a group that they don't belong to is suffering from B.S. posturing. My experiences around "goth" culture have shown my two things. Goth culture seems to attract a good number of idiots who believe that conforming to wearing black is the definition of non-conformity. Many of these people sit around and talk about how no one in the world cares or understands. Yet instead of being moved by this realization that other people feel the same way, they remain determined to sulk in self-centered agony. At the same time, there is a small sub-culture within the sub-culture of people who just happen to like listening to Skinny Puppy, or Bauhaus. There are people who prefer the color black, or prefer Giger's artwork to Monet. There are people who enjoy being deviant for the sake of being deviant. Most of these people strive to find other terms than goth these days, to seperate themselves from the seventeen-year-old drama queens, but even more so, they prefer to avoid classifying themselves as subscribing to some social fad. They just prefer to be themselves. Other people might mistakenly call them goth.
  21. The Sega Shadowrun game was very faithful to it's PnP roots, but lacked story. It was a lengthy series of grinding for karma and random fetch quests. I really prefered the SNES version.
  22. I've seen this suggested before, so you're not alone in this opinion. I think this is a good idea. Anything they can do to improve the worthiness of skills would be great.
  23. I think fan-fiction will cover that. If Obisidian does KOTOR:3, I think they'll want to do their own characters.
  24. I have to agree that Kung Fu Kaos is one of the most underrated titles I've ever played. I would shell out $50 for Kung Fu Kaos 2 in a heart-beat. If you have four controllers and a few friends, it has one of the best multiplayers around. Single player is a hoot as well. To quote the director, "this scene is missing something... something naked!"
