  1. I am not an avid DnD'er, but from what I heard the Manual of the Planes has a different take on the Planes and contradicts the Planescape setting. When Torment was released, the table-top setting wasn't necessarily popular or huge. Atari owns the rights to do DnD CRPGs, so I'm in no hurry to see a Planescape title if Atari has anything to do with it. What made Torment great was the writing, not necessarily the setting. While a sequel would likely feature the Spire and plenty of doors, the characters that made Torment great would not return.
  2. I was just reading this over at CNN.COM Afghani President Karzai is talking to Bush.
  3. You are racist! Why does it have to be the "Black" Lagoon? What are you trying to say?
  4. While I doubt that would be sanitary, it would be pretty warm.
  5. I don't understand how professional designers can come up with the head models in KOTOR, and then check out the wonderful fan made models for games like Morrowind.
  6. I still want to know what the heck your avatar is. It reminds me of a 50's horror film swamp monster.
  7. As a film-maker (all I've shot is digital short films, but hey, it's something) I study film. Lucas has no editorial process. No one questions him. That is his failing. He doesn't answer to a studio, and his producer kisses his butt. I consider myself a pretty good writer, but everyone needs someone to edit and challenge them. Peter Jackson did a great job with the LoTR trilogy. But when adapting the scripts, he had help from several people who bounced ideas off each other. I loved watching the documentaries and seeing how the creative process to create the prologue developed.
  8. I suggest we ban Anari before he tries to slip more naughty words in with his good ideas.
  9. It also would have been silly when it switched from: "Hello, Justin Timberlake" to "Hello, Revan" I think Bioware just liked single names. While Carth had a last name, he simply was Carth. Then there's Malak, Revan, Canderous, Bastilla, etc.
  10. Thanks! After getting ripped for my political views all day long, it's nice to see someone who likes one of my ideas. I'm an aspiring filmmaker/writer. So I know a few things about telling a story. If I had a degree in writing, I'd go apply at Bioware for one of their open writing positions. Then again, I'm open to hearing job offers from Obsidian.
  11. Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket? I'd love to see mission flying the Ebon Hawk. Instead, I'll fire up X-Wing Alliance.
  12. Something about Barbie Horse Adventures 2 sounds dirty.
  13. Thanks for the links! When I get home I'm going to watch them!
  14. Imagine for a small moment that George Lucas hands me the script for Episode 1. The basic story of Naboo, Anakin, The Trade Federation, Darth Maul, etc. are fine. They're not great, but it's passable. Change #1 - The aliens in the movie speak in alien tongues with subtitles. Get rid of the childish accents that make the movie come across as racist. This applies to Jar-Jar as well. He was silly, and I didn't care for him. But change his voice and he comes MUCH more bearable. Change #2 - Eliminate every use of the word "Yippee!" Change #3 - Eliminate the midichlorian Blood Test. Merely have Qui-Gon look sagely at Anakin and say "I can sense he is strong in the Force. Perhaps as strong as Master Yoda..." He can then stroke his chin and go "Hmm...." Change #4 - Add a small introduction scene in for Darth Maul. We never see him act evil in this movie. Perhaps if we see him dispatch of someone early on, it will add a sense of creepy forboding as he stalks down the Jedi. Change #5 - Tweak Maul's death. The whole duel was good up to that point. In fact, it was great. Obi-Wan should have killed him with a daring and dangerous manuever. As it stands, Maul stood around and waited to be chopped in half. Change #6 - Anakin is the most poperful Force User in the Galaxy. He's a great natural pilot, and a Pod Racing champion. Why was the Space Battle some big accident that he didn't know what he was doing? Make Anakin defiant from day 1. He steals the ship and intentionally saves the day. Obi-Wan is mad, but Anakin did save the day after-all. It establishes Episodes 2 and 3 much better. You already have a fairly talented cast, and one of the best damn scores I've ever heard. ILM did a pretty good job with the movie. They invented THX 6.1 sound for the movie, for crying out loud. The two-headed announcer for the Pod Race looked pretty silly, but no one's perfect. All of that could have been handled with minor reshoots or edits in post-production. Go back and watch the Duel of the Fates music video. Watch the final trailer. Both give me goosebumps. This movie had potential. Now, another adjustment could make the movie even better, but it's not simple. You need a full script-rewrite. The movie is a series of meetings. This group meets and discusses this. The next group discusses that. Alot of the story could be told through action rather than dialogue. People have heard of the Fan-Dom Menance? Where people did a few small edits and the movie played much better? Imagine doing a similiar project, but instead of just cutting scenes out all-together, you replace it with some flash animation. I'm lazy and can't draw, but I think it would be great. You couldn't distribute it though. It would be very illegal.
  15. Damn. Good. Point. I got goosebumps imagining the possible motivations to move to the Dark Side.
  16. I just can't compete with that level of design.
  17. Bush has many policies that I don't care for. If I digressed into every policy in Bush's career I'd be arguing forever. My point is that why people may not like his policies, Bush didn't lie to bring this country into a war. I hate lies. And frankly there are more lies about Bush than lies spread by Bush. And Clinton was asked to send peace-keepers into Serbia. We were asked to keep violence to a minimum, and UN orders were to not fire bullets if at possible. Clinton's response was to drop bombs. You have doubts about Iraq. Fair enough. That's a catch-22. They're probably not ready. They probably need more time to establish a government and rebuild. They don't even have a police system yet. I expect riots, bombings and perhaps civil war to follow. Yet everyone is screaming for us to get out as soon as possible. We either stay and help, and get accused of making a puppet governement to steal their oil, or leave them to fall on their face. In fact you effectively damn us on both fronts. You say no reconstruction has been done in Iraq. That's not true. Power, water, and such come first. Streets don't have street-lights. We're trying to assemble and train a police force out of nothing. We're putting in phone lines. Yes oil lines are a priority because if Iraq is going to stand on it's own two feet, it needs to make money to take care of itself. You accuse Bush of lying. No one knew 100% what the situation was in Iraq except for Saddam. The UN, other foreign intelligence communities, and Democrats all agreed that Iraq had WMD. Bush didn't lie. I didn't vote for Bush. I voted for Nader as the lessor of all evils. I don't know if I'll vote for Bush in the upcoming elections. For the record, I hate his imigration policies, his stance on CAFTA, his stance on gay marriage, etc. There are things that he has done that I do support. Kerry doesn't have a platform. He's comparing our economy of the Great Depression of the 20's which is ridiculous. He's made a complete 180 on statements he made before, and he is running on the "I'm not Bush" platform. I might support Kerry if he stood for something. Everytime I've heard him speak, he is very negative, critical and says he would do everything differently. But he hasn't said how.
  18. I'm about ready to throw my hands in the air. I'm sick of trying to defend this country. People have the right to not like it. Whatever. On a side note, what the heck is your avatar Dennis?
  19. Your next game should be one of three projects. 1) Calvin and Hobbes the RPG 2) Calvinball 3) Commander Keen the RPG
  20. I really wished he would have kept the NSynch Jedi cameo in. And to think, that I've defended Lucas on certain points. I think he has become a crazy, foolish, weak director and storyteller. Despite that, I still like Episode 2, and believe that with a few edits I could have salvaged a good movie out of Episoed 1.
  21. The problem is that change occurs with Congress, not the White House. And Congress is quite corrupt. And you'd be hard pressed to get Congress to pass legislature to fix the real problems in government.
  22. That's what Fahrenheit 9/11 is about. I'll watch the documentary and then try to do some fact checking. But right now I don't trust Michael Moore a whole lot. He doesn't have a great track record.
  23. Yes and no. I think Australia's government is great. And they are a democracy with some socialistic leanings like the US. But they manage it with far less corruption.
  24. I agree combatting terrorism would likely mean moving into Syria, Iran, etc. However, look at the image the US has in the global community currently. How would the world respond if we moved into Syria next? The United States was wrong to appoint leaders in Iraq, Iran, Aghanistan, Grenada and the litany of other places they did. Congress seems very wary of "nation building". Perhaps we have learned from those mistakes. I don't think we are the same insidious government we used to be.
