  1. *gg* fun. But "no sex no STD" is not true, I even bothered to write some tiny examples in order to not appear as purely trollish No, it doesn't go. Dieting isn't natural either I'm not going to switch too far into nutrition-topic, so I'll leave the vegetarianism out. Also, I don't deny that the surroundings do have a big influence on perception of this subject but this again is too absolute: As your own example with the dedicated christians showed, it's just not what feels good and right for your body but rather what feels good for your moral principles. Moral principles however are a cultural phenomenon, thus fall into the same category as 'social climate'. You see where I'm getting at? Both is an influence one should be able to choose to follow of course. It's just not one that should be taught at school as primary principle. What kids should learn imho is that there are these influences, and there probably are their bodily urges, and what can happen if you follow either or both of them, and how to do it responsibly. And this is what this thread's topic is all about.Yay, I'm back to topic
  2. Doesn't always work as intended, unfortunately.
  3. I don't think so - but I cannot remember the music either. Where was it? Also, the, so-called, unofficial "patch" changed music (although the most resent releases might not, I use the True patches or the 1.2 patch) in some areas. Well, it wasn't that track. It was the one in the church with Venus that was quite a bit too low in volume, and not an all too interesting piece anyway.
  4. i'm guessing not one of you all has a clue as to what OBE really is. testament to it's success in dumbing down the world, IMO. OBE is, in its purest form, teach people ONLY what they are good at, i.e., determining their best outcome then teaching them that, and that alone. it is socialism in its purest form. the purpose of OBE is to create masses of people that do specific things, but are not educated broadly enough to understand exactly why they are sheep. setting test scores high in graduate class is not OBE. sheesh. think for a moment, too, less than 40% of the population gets in to college, and not all graduate. only 10% of those get a master's degree and less than 1% (of the graduates) get a PhD or similar. subject difficulty alone sets the threshold on these degrees. mandatory testing is the other thing that is really damaging education, perhaps the first step towards true OBE (gee, billy just can't seem to get <insert arbitrary threshold here>, maybe we should only teach him how to cook burgers?). of course, public teaching by itself is a liberal concept, so that it even exists is pretty damaging. the only way to control the masses is to control the way they think. you guys (in general) are my proof that it is working. taks Thanks for the explanation, though you worded it rude enough. I didn't know what OBE was and guessed by the name, that's why I phrased my sentence regarding this concept as a question. GuardDog, I have a question regarding this: How can teaching this be a good thing? Abstinence doesn't even really prevent getting so called STDs like AIDS or certain forms of Hepatitis (via contaminated drug injections, public toilets etc.), nor does it enable anyone to become a happy individual (unless said individual is a very spiritual monk or something).
  5. Look for the most conservative spot on a map of (geographical) europe
  6. Held up by whom? Some director of the national economic comittee lately said that universities should set the barriers of examn results so high that only that as many people as the economy needs* of that specific direction can get their masters degree (or was it even enter master courses?). Isn't that a form of OBE too? *: read: 0 historian, 5 germanists, 0 philosopher, 79 sinologists, 100 lawyers, 100 mbas etc
  7. ASP - Me He wasn't credited for that (too silent) track in V:tM B, was he?
  8. Cool. That means that in my country, the capitalists adopt a socialst idea. Of course not in its entiety, otherwise it wouldn't be mandatory to be present during each lesson...

  10. As it is here (ok, maybe the agenda is hidden very well, but that's not my point ), and yes, it's good that way imo. Fair enough, but in the end, if we have the possibility to prevent such situation simply by informing them about sex and consequences in school, why shouldn't we? It even is one of the more practical things taught at school, as being able to do perform integral/differential math is nice, but knowing about your own physiology, diseases and such is important. Huh? Even less of one than there is in the US? You're kidding, right?
  11. Fields of the Nephilim - The Nephilim (whole CD, now playing: Endemoniada) Ha, back to black
  12. Students are free to do so as long as it does not interfere with the other students - only mandatory prayer was deems unconstitutional. Hm? That's fine by me, it's not harassing anyone who isn't Christian, is it? Spreading false information about STD or teaching abstinence as only way to stay safe is of course male cow dung. I heard that this was the case in some african countries and am negatively surprised to hear that schools in the US that do so are tolerated. I wouldn't phrase it as harsh as Gorgon, however nor am I as amused by it as the first posters. Ridiculous? Yes. Funny? No: it's playing with the physical and mental health of kids.
  13. Mazzy Star - Fade into you In the mood to listen to some pop

  16. who knows if what you think you know is true. just let them pay It would be interesting to compare the results of this poll with similar ones on other websites.

  19. I'm anonymous, and I'll always be
  20. Oh yes, that is true. The prices for good cards never were as low as they are now. It's just that nVidia can freely set the price for its high-end cards: How much cheaper has a 8800GTX or even GTS (G80), not to mention the Ultra become since release 1.5 years ago or so? Not much. nVidia isn't even forced to invest in new technology, see the 9xxx series that's based on a G80 that was crippled in some areas and slightly improved in others.
  21. Funny enough, I didn't have a clue either. What I "knew" about AD&D came from BG1, but still PS:T was very intriguing, not least because of the setting unknown to me at that time. Agreed with the points here, and I like new game worlds as well, though the look of the one in ME never made me feel like I wanted to play that game because of the universe. I can see how you're getting that impression. But let me assure you, it's not entirely true, as there pieces of art that are appealing to mainstream but still considered art.
  22. The coolest feature about new crossfire-x is that you can team between one and four chips even of different series So you could have a 3870x2 combined with a 3850 or something. If that works with the next generation too, I'm willing to consider to join the multi-gpu crowd. If the problems to achieve a smooth framerate are resolved and it will be possible to de-activate not needed cards (i.e. for surfing on the internet), that is.
  23. Surprised to see I'm among the younger voters here *g*
  24. Why not link to your post? Anyway, if considering Vista, a look at Nightshade's Software Compatibility List for Windows Vista found here certainly helps
  25. Yes sure, but I don't know of any programs that can actually use crossfire-setups in this way. It would be great if there were though. For SLI setups, such things could potentially exist, as nVidia sells multi G80 setups as stream processing units. It looks as if the end of this year would be a good point to build my new system: New graphics generation, AMD possibly becoming more competitive on the higher end too... Ok, I could wait for Fusion or something, but my PC is five years old already. So: Make the HD 4xxx series good, ATI!
