  1. Hehe... How about a compromise then: Poor people trying to take their role seriously in such a situation?
  2. Yeah well, not that it needs to *shrug* There's only so much you can do for IPC that reflects in games. It's about time Intel took AMD's approach concerning server processor scaling abilities. I speculate however that it's not quite as 'bad' as depicted in the article though as far as gaming speed-ups are concerned.

You did, but have I told you that there's kind of little hope for us? Living on the other side of the world and stuff? :/ Tiamat - Angel Holograms

  5. That's the main point imo: It assumes you, the paying customer, are guilty. Only the paying customer is subject to the DRM. Those who do play it illegaly have removed the DRM and are free to play it the way they like without continuously being watched, having your system checked each time you start the game, having to stay online during play, having to fear for your hardware, having to uninstall virtual drives, cd burning software or whatnot. It actually pays in more than one way to steal a game BECAUSE of the DRM. However I think some of the Stardock "rights" are unneccessary, like this which is only a minor convenience issue, or can be an asset: remember the option to install Tombraider using only 30MB of HD-Space, because most things were loaded from CD? I liked to have that option. This here: isn't too good either. Only patches to issues are to be expected, content updates are a bonus, and nothing else. Because imo, when you buy a game, you buy it as it is, unless updates are promised in some way. With the other points though I wholehearteldy agree.

  7. The functional approach doesn't work for love imo. For survival of humanity, f*** around would suffice, but love has too many drawbacks to be regarded as nothing but a necessary foundation of community. Also, if you view it from your "evolutionary", (sorry, but: pseudo-)scientific angle, why would you differentiate between emotion and chemicals?
  8. Thanks, that's convienient. Oh, nice Poor teachers though :/

Ah, ok, I probably overinterpreted the description of the song in youtube I remember you mentioning that festival once. Die Krupps - The Machineries of Joy
  10. Wait, so you already own a gaming PC (except tri-SLI)? Why does your laptop have to be one for gaming?

Tomorrow Never Knows is the one thing for the trippy self... Yay! Your ex looks pretty dead to me, though. Hope it wasn't you Duncan's got a slightly more stern look... Also: Single? Is their CD out ? Kellerkinder - The Cold
  12. Yeah, does it have to be a laptop? Because you can get a more than decent gaming system with $1500, but only a laptop that may run your games with ok settings. If it has to be a laptop, you can look for something that has a geforce 8700m or an ati radeon hd3850 mobile or better. Processors are mostly fast enough if they're dual core at 2.2GHz or above with 2GB RAM, but the graphics "cards" are mostly jokes.

Revolver is a very cool album anyway Fields of the Nephilim - Last Exit for the Lost (Live at WGT) The climax is incomparable, after the partially disappointing beginning, this is so just an almost total relief...
  14. I played some trials, some almost made me want to play some more, and those were: 1) Everquest II 2) Dungeons and Dragons Online They were not really "good games", but had some addictive elements. I loved gathering stuff for my collections and my appartment and crafting in EQII, also the faries were pretty, and jumping from high spots being able to sail a little was a good feeling . DnDO was slightly fun, as the quests were narrated, and I came quite far (i.e. Level 2 ) with my rogue. Both didn't seem to force you into a guild or party. Both didn't last over the trial stage however, as I have better things, among them games, to do with my time.
  15. Thanks Walsingham, now I must not bother with the chemical guy "oh look, nice weather!" "bah, it's just some electrical signals transmitted from this cluster of chemical components that are constituting your eye to the cluster of chemical components that your brain consists of via a cluster of chemicals that are your nerves, that are causing chemicals to be emitted that cause chemicals to cause chemicals to cause the chemicals your mouth consists of to produce sound waves by modifying the air exhaled by contracting your lung which consists of chemicals and whose contraction is caused by chemicals emitted by that cluster of chemicals that is your brain that..." Anyway. I now don't have to write this conversation to the end, because you did it in a far more efficient way. Thanks again

Whew, finally back to where my heart and soul - as far as music and certain magic feelings are concerned - currently (and forever?) lies: Fields of the Nephilim - And there will your heart be also (whole elizium album actually)

  20. If you have dust covers for your fans, you can easily clean them by taking them out and just brushing the dust off them, no need for an air treatment I have yet to find a vacuum cleaner that allows for this, as all I've seen personally were statically charged. Anyway, one must be careful when using any method involving air not to a) push the dust into the device like LadyCrimson said and b) not to make fans spin. b) is because if they spin, charge is generated and can damage whatever device they're connected to (motherboard or graphics card usually), and also if they spin too fast in the wrong direction it can damage the bearings.
  21. However much I like your posts in this thread, Architect, and I do like them, I don't see how kids play a role here, being nothing short of a romance killer. Of course in the mind of many people it's romantic to "have someones children", but I've yet to see a case where they improve anything about lovelife other than staying together for the kids, which in itself hasn't much to do with romance or love but is a rather poor excuse for cowardice.
  22. 32bit is enough to address a whole 4GB. Some of 4GB RAM isn't available to user processes, because the same addresses are used for memory mapped IO and probably other stuff I currently don't think of. If the usable rest is 3.75GB or 3.25, 3.5, 3.1415926 depends on things like amount of memory on the graphics card etc. IIrc, since a certain update, Vista always says there are 4GB, even if it's the 32bit version. Lacking a copy of it, I'm not sure however

There wasn't enough critisism to be read/heard during the olympics on china, the current sport-world etc., at least not here. Some TV newsmags before the games, some minor sideremarks in newspapers... Disappointing really. They probably just felt offended because it wasn't entirely positive.
  24. Reminds me of the NWN-Module creators "feline fuelled games"
  25. there's a smiley, you know...
