  1. There's sound logic.
  2. I just tried clicking on that link and got an error message.
  3. Uh, yeah actually, the individual stores' head office DOES decide when their store outlets release the game. The "official" release date just stops stores from releasing it BEFORE that date. But the official release date has no bearing on whether a store wants to release it AFTER that date. Keep in mind not all stores have the same shipment date. If the store always receives its shipments on a Tuesday, then obviously it won't meet TSL's Monday release date. How exactly is that the staff's fault?
  4. Why? That's a rather weak assumption. Atleast if you've played it, then it would be your personal opinion versus the reviewer. But as it stands, it's your assumptions against someone who has actually played it.
  5. Again, read what I wrote. Blame store head office policy. If the computer doesn't say when the store has it in stock, even though the entire world knows the release date, the employee's hands are tied. If it's store policy that he can't sell a copy until the 7th, then again, blame head office. Unless, of course, you expect him to lose his job just because you disagree with store policy.
  6. Actually people seemed to be getting in to a frenzy over the IGN score as well, namely the score in graphics, despite the high overall score.
  7. In fairness to the staff at the stores, it's sometimes not their fault. I used to work at Toys R Us a few years back, in the video games and electronics department. I had a lot of phone calls with customers asking me when we would be carrying a certain game and the best I could do is check the computer to see the details. If the computer doesn't give me a release date or whether it's being released soon or in stock, then that's all I can tell the customer.
  8. That's what I meant...I wasn't sure if my response to Bastila Skywalker illustrated that or not. I was trying to say she should read the reviewer's reasons for giving it the score he did, instead of immediately wanting his head on a platter.
  9. Obsidian has no control, and probably no knowledge, of why or when stores get the games. I suggest you contact Lucasarts instead, since they're in charge of what you're complaining about.
  10. Uh? Did you happen to read the entire review and listen/read the reviewer's reasons for the score?
  11. That wasn't my point about the analogy. It was more about comparing when each was released in relation to one another. I wasn't saying the PC version is higher quality, like the DVD version of the trilogy is. I was merely pointing out that both the PC KOTOR and DVD OT came out later than the XBox KOTOR and the VHS OT, respectively. Thus it's very inaccurate to compare sales figures and point to that as concrete proof that one would sell better than the other.
  12. Just watched the gamespot video review. The footage of the game look alright, but then again I only played KOTOR I on the PC, so I have no idea how these graphics compare with KOTOR I XBox graphics. The reviewer seems to insist that the PC has amnesia, even after it's been explained numerous times that he/she doesn't have it. Which makes me wonder if the reviewer has a full grasp of what's going on in the game. All in all, though, apart from the score they gave the graphics, the rest of the categories seemed to do very well.
  13. If the previous gamespot scores continue, wouldn't this mean that the PC version will score lower than an 8.5? Last time the XBox scored higher than the PC version (I think 9.1 to 8.8 or something), so perhaps unless whatever "bugs" the reviewers keep mentioning aren't ironed out for the PC version, it'll take a big hit in score as well and come up with about a 8 to 8.2 or thereabouts.
  14. I find it rather ironic that, thus far, the forum designated for discussing the storyline, is pretty much empty, yet the general forum remains in constant use. I guess it's tough making monkeys type on a different typewriter than they're used to.
  15. Please refer to my post from the first page. 80% of the people that responded = gullible.
  16. I can't believe the gullibility of some of the people in this thread. It's beyond funny to the point of being scary.
  17. I'd just like to point out that, although perhaps the XBox version would still sell better regardless, that it's a skewed statistic to suggest that the sales volumes of KOTOR are a good indication of which game sold better. Let's not forget that the XBox version was out sooner, thus those people who own both XBox and PC would have already bought a copy, meaning less potential PC sales when it was finally released. Think about it. Would it really be fair to compare DVD sales of the Star Wars trilogy with that of VHS sales? Of course not, since the VHS version had a huge headstart. However, if both were hypothetically released at the exact same time, I'd say it's a fair estimate that the VHS to DVD sales would be a LOT closer, and even in fact, in favor of the DVD.
  18. True. But how much more "fixing" can they do, given that the majority of the team has moved on to the NWN2 project? I have visions of the PC version being all done and completed, but just sitting in a half-empty warehouse collecting dust until the pre-determined 2 month delay is over. <_<
  19. I didn't mean a bug free game. I meant some of the bugs that are in the XBox version that were rushed and that might be fixable given the extra 2 months they have. But as someone stated, it's probably just a pipe dream considering the majority of the team has moved on to NWN2.
  20. With some of the reviews commenting on the bugs in the XBox version, do you think that once our PC version is released in 2 months time, we'll get a more polished version? Or are these kinds of bugs inherent with this engine that KOTOR uses? What about items? Do you think newer items will be included, or is it too much to ask and too late in the development process for some small "extras" to pacify us?
  21. That's what I was kind of thinking. You go up against someone you just can't beat, but you don't necesarily "die". You just lose badly, but find a way to escape him. Or a tribute the Return of the Jedi, where someone you care about is being massacred, so you have to make the choice of either saving them (ala Vader) and die in the process, or let them die but then take on a "drained" endboss.
  22. April 1st. " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> in Finland.
  23. I figured by definition a Spoiler forum is for any kind of information that "spoils" the game for those who haven't played it. Quest solutions and storyline discussion both fit that definition.
  24. I get the feeling this is going to be a very lonely forum until close to February. On topic: When did the XBox version go gold? About a week before release, wasn't it? So probably near the end of January or first week of February (assuming no more delays on Lucasarts' part). "
  25. I agree. I would have thought they go hand in hand.
