Even if, hypothetically, the new game far surpasses the quality of the previous? Like I said, sily and short sighted. I have my favorites when it comes to developers, and I have my list of developers whose games I thought royally sucked. But I'm not going to close my mind to the potential that those same developers can make a great game until they prove me wrong.

What books? The ones with Drizzt in it? That story doesn't have anything to do with the game (in case you were hoping it did).

Combine this with your other post about how well 50 Cent: Bulletproof sold, and you see a disturbing trend.

Hmm...I don't know what to think of that. I was hoping it would be RPG-ish, as opposed to RTS type stuff.

I wonder how many people bought that game that didn't actually like 50 Cent or who bought it because they thought it would be a good game.

But at the same time, using an existing and well plotted storyline could handicap a new writer, especially if they weren't a part of the original storyline. IMO, that same writer could produce a much more original story without constraints if they make a brand new storyline, rather than trying to just add on to an existing one.

It can, but does that necessarily mean it's a good idea to do it? Much like, for instance, the Star Wars movies. GL can make more movies after the events of Return of the Jedi and continue the saga, but would that really make sense?

We don't need a continuation of the Bhaalspawn saga. But I think we do need another BG.
