  1. Maud'Dib! Maud'Dib! Maud'Dib! Maud'Dib! *And the Sci-Fi geek goes back to lurk mode* PS: No dead Bastila, please.
  2. I would only be interested in different styles of blade wielding if they reflected actual changes in combat technique - something similar to the Legend of the Five Rings RPG. I doubt they'll be able to implement that in The Sith Lords, however.
  3. The two links that still work are of the promo art on the covers of EG and CGW. The two little X's might be what I'm looking for but they appear to link to content that's no longer available. Still, it appears as though what I was looking for was on that thread, yes.
  4. Thank you for your suggestion. I shall do just that.
  5. That doesn't quite look like a lightsaber.. Sniggy: " looks like she turned DS after all." I think she confused mitochondria with methylprednisolone
  6. No problem. I wish I had a scanner so I could post a copy of the picture.
  7. 1. Politeness is good. 2. Treat people you never see with the kindness you show people you see on a daily basis. 3. Diversity is both the greatest strength and the greatest weakness of a community. 4. Every time I've spoken with the moderators they've been attentive and helpful. If you see a problem, help them out by sending a polite PM. 5. Truth is Beauty. Beauty is Truth.
  8. Grumbold, Are you refering to the Bastila rescue? I won all the swoop races I encountered so I didn't know there were paths that became unavailable if I lost one.
  9. My copy of Electronic Gaming has a nice piece of artwork at the beginning of their 'Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lord' article. (Francis H. is it?) Is the artist someone who works for Obsidian? Of all the concept art I've seen, it's the only one that gives the white jedi's robe a smooth, snowy elegance. The EG magazine had the dark side half of that artwork in poster form but Computer Gaming World didn't have the contrasting light side half as a poster. Does anyone know where I might be able to get the other half?
  10. Gee, women liking male characters. What's next? Men liking female characters?! It's the end of the gaming world!
  11. The theme of the game might be darker but I there's no reason to assume that there will be no quiet places and no areas that are combat free.
  12. I was standing before the copier, deadeyed, as it thrummed along and spat out three copies of fifty collated, double-sided pages of a report. I think it was near page 173 that a line from a post wandered into my head and set up residence. It suggested that in 'Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords' Bastila Shan might be dead and/or returned to the darkside. During the time, I originally read that I simply mentally shrugged but as I stood before the copier it occurred to me that it might actually happen. I loathed the way they handled Aribeth's death in NeverWinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark. Here I am, wadding into a brand new adventure and the game feels the need to tell me, "By the way, your 'love interest' in the last game was executed for treason." Instead of wanting to continue with Hordes, I wanted to load up the Aurora Toolset so I could burst Lord Nasher's head open like a ripe casaba melon. I don't care about the skittles variety of lightsaber colors, the new Force powers, or the number of worlds but now that I've stumbled across something that matters I figured that I'd start a thread about it. Please do not have Bastila be dead or backslid into the darkside. The fact that I hate an idea isn't doesn't count for much so I'll try and bolster my argument. 1. John Gardner suggested that all (non-meta) fiction could be broken down into one simple idea: A character cares about something and that something is threatened. In the first KOTOR I didn't care about defeating Malak, I already whooped his pansy ass and sent him running. I wanted to get my NPC back from whatever marijuana fueled madness sent her into the arms of a two-bit hood. You rob the story of its emotional pay off if you reverse its crux after the fact. 2. There are some genres in which it's fashionable to kill off the love interest/best friend/loyal servant at the very end in order to create the 'bittersweet' ending
  13. I've been thinking (a dangerous past time, I know). How about, the white Jedi in the promos is also the Sith Lord in the promos. The 'telepathy' thing allows her to observe and influence your behavior. This is because your character has a rare talent/trait/power/fate that will allow her to supplant the head of the Jedi order and rule both the Jedi and the Sith.
  14. A bone here. A bone there. That's all we ask... Now, what we demand. That's a whole 'nother story.
  15. Amilie was brilliant film. The City of Lost Children was visually splendid but it didn't have the same emotional punch I thought Amilie had.
  16. Phencyclidine hydrochloride? No problem, evil one.
  17. Good question. I hope you don't mind if I answer it in a PM as it has little to do with this thread and I already feel bad about the off-topic discussion.
  18. Is the general public allowed at E3? I actually thought about seeing if I could go but it was the same week at my friend's college graduation. Obviously, I went to the graduation... and I got dumped. Maybe there's a moral there.
  19. You know, I've decided this isn't worth it. Kumquat, you're correct. I was wrong to post before I was 100% certain of my facts. I thought I was being helpful but I did so in what was obviously a sloppy and poorly considered manner. I apologize for anything I might have said that has upset you and will make my best effort in the future to avoid doing so.
  20. Adria: "While I admit that I, too, am an incurable romantic, I must say that my favourite scene in Titanic is Leo heading for the ocean floor like there was a lead weight chained to his ankles...Sorry!" *laughs* Don't worry, that's a common reaction. I watched it once with my stepfather. He fast-forwarded through all the "boring" part and the film was only thirty minutes long. He cheered at the end, as well, and then spent the next week talking about how stupid someone would have to be to throw away a diamond. Ender, I agree, a sloppy romance is worse than no romance. Given the number of NPCs and the comments on the board, I think I'm going to find all the interactions in this game (romantic and other) satisfying.
  21. Ghost of Anikin: " Summary: constructive critisism and critique of certain aspects of the game seem logical, and those who ENJOYED the game would like to see their ideas implemented, or their dislikes aired. moaning and whining because the game was absolute crap, yet posting constantly about it on the message board is pointless. " I concur! Ender: " Don't try to inject common sense and login into this community. It would implode." The people in this forum aren't that bad. I find the majority of them to be intelligent, mature, and polite. I think message boards simply are a poor medium when it comes to conveying your personality. "To tell you the truth, Maria, I'm really curious what your take is on the plot twist." I wish I could offer something up but I feel I know too little about the plot to even try. From what I heard, it's supposed to be even more impressive than the original one. Maybe the good Jedi you've been working with since the beginning turn out to be Sith? All that good you've been doing actually was furthering their power. Of course, that would only work for a lightsider.
  22. Kumquat: " This you did not know until a dev posted it." Yes, I did know that. " Now you claimed to know that party NPCs from kotor, other than T3, will possibly join you. Again, something you do not know. Or at least did not hear from a source that you can back up the comment with. When I asked you to come up with one, you would or could not." Electronic Gaming, pg 81 Kumquat, I'm certain you're a lovely person in person but you are coming off as someone with a chip on their shoulder. Nartwork: "Since when did ocean water freeze at depth? Isn't there too much salinity?" Saltwater freezes at lower temperatures than fresh water but, yes, it freezes then rises to the top and melts again.
  23. Opus: " Ho yes, now i feel like laying down on a railroad track. At this point, i think they should just ditch KOTORII and concentrate on the expantion : KOTOR - Hot Date..." Spelling Buddy Sez: Expansion Hey, can I help it that I get all mushy? I'm a sap when it comes to love. I liked Titanic too. (Something I'd only admit in an anonymous forum)
