  1. I never said Libertarians are objectivists. I said that she was the source of Libertarian political theory. You have to know what I'm saying before you can disagree with it.
  2. Blessed Sith: " I also always figured the "him" was in referece to Revan's "lack" of sex. Right? Because in English (and French and . . . pretty much everything else), a group of men and women is referred to as male. So it's usually safest to say that anyone, especially a military opponent, is male just because that's the general term used. It didn't matter what Revan was: he/she/it was far off, an opponent, and so it was just "him"." Not quite. In Latinate languages nouns have gender. For instance, 'table' in Spanish is 'la mesa' (f) while 'car' is 'el coche' (m) and you can't have genderless groups or objects. Las chicas is a group of girls, while los chicos can be a group of boys or a group of boys and girls. English, while it borrows heavily from Latinate languages, is Germanic, therefore, nouns are genderless. In Old English, the genderless human was a 'man', a male human a 'werman', and a female human was a 'wyfman'. In modern English, you can use the term 'men' to describe a group composed of men and women. Just not in all circumstances. This entire conversation is moot, however, as we are dealing with the Mandilorian language and culture, not English and Western society.
  3. The picture of the Sith Lord on the promotional art is very reminiscent of a ghost in a noh play. Thus, I do not find the image to be one of evil. Then again, I don't have the same red/black color associations as the majority of LucasArt.
  4. Different viewpoints create different psychological effects and force you to interact with the virtual environment in different ways but no viewpoint is inherently 'superior' for various genres. Dues Ex and Morrowind are both examples of role-playing games that utilize the first person perspective. Alice and Diablo both created intense action in a third person and isometric viewpoint, respectively.
  5. While I appreciate the human need to speculate, I'd respectfully like to suggest that it is too early to do so with any accuracy at this point. Currently, we have our experiences of previous games, a few screenshots, a general idea as to the beginning of the story, and the history of the creative team. Even if we enjoy the ideas we've heard, the best idea can suffer from poor implementation. If I were going to speculate I'd need: Video and sound clips from the game A more expansive outline of the conflicts within it More information on the personalities I'll interact with More information on how the work reacts to my actions. Until then, all I have is optimistic enthusiasm.
  6. I don't know how high the stress level at Obsidian is at present but I assume that the closer they get to the deadline, the higher it becomes. As such, if they plan on doing any fan events, I suggest they do them before the pressure truly begins to mount.
  7. 1. Story 2. Characterization 3. Consequences for your actions Odd how one person's "important feature" is another's icing on the cake.
  8. I think the Sith Lords board or the Suggestion board would be a more appropriate place for this thread.
  9. A link to it from the boards might be good but it shouldn't necessarily be part of the forums. There is only limited space on the first page of a forum. In my experience, people tend to compete with one another to be on the first page creating needless bump-a-thons. I'd suggest that whenever you get around to updating the Games > Sith Lords portion of your website, you have one link for concept art, one for screen shots, and one for amateur art. Of course, if you do that, you'll have set up an e-mail address that fans can submit art to, submission guidelines (or else you'll have people complaining that their picture of a naked T'Leek dancer eviscerating a Dark Jedi hasn't been posted), and someone will have to go through the submissions and put them up ever so often. In terms of time and manpower, an extension of the forum might be more efficient.
  10. While I have no particular preference as to what form it take, I think that fan-centered events are a good idea. The break up the tedium of typical board posting, foster a greater sense of community, and it's nice to think that ones ideas might be integrated into the final product.
  11. Brian Menze: "I've never heard of her.. " That's quite unfortunate as she crated quite an impact on the world beyond that of pure literature, she created the Objectivist movement in philosophy and is the source of Libertarian political theory. From http://www.objectivistcenter.org/
  12. And yet, it was still better than Episode 1...
  13. Sarkile: " I'm kind of wondering what version of Star Wars you watched." Once, a friend of mine bought one of those 'fan made' Star Wars movies and it turned out to be some strange story set in Victorian England where these two women have a graphic sex scene and then break out into the 'Daddy, daddy you ain't with it' routine from 8 Women.
  14. Ddemon: " I want to be able to have my companions dark too (or light of course). " I want my companions to have their own personality. I'd rather they leave the team if their morality clashes too much with mine.
  15. Alexia: " Can you make the avatar size to at least 100x100 as you can hardly see them." I think the current size is fine. I can see my avatar, it doesn't look like everyone else's, and I don't spend time waiting for pages to download images when I come here for words.
  16. Ferret: "I think the original KotOR wasn't primarily aimed at kids. It touched upon serious issue but it didn't go too far. It fit very well with the Star Wars movies and genre." I concur; I enjoy adult ideas and subject matter handled in adult ways. When I say I want a "mature" game, that is what I'm looking for
  17. Obsidian is neither black, nor hard, nor a rock. It's volcanic glass, it has a hardness is 5 - 5.5 (much softer than quartz), and it's transparent when in thin pieces. It's also the official Smoking Mirror of Tezcatlipoca, the god of Night and Sorcery.
  18. Fearless Jedi: " Dont make feats like flurry, critical hit, or power attack. For one, you never have enough feat points to master them all, and all of them except maybe flurry where useless." I'm going to disagree with you on "power attack" as I found it to be quite a useful feat to have. I was often able to take an enemy down with one hit using it. Critical Strike never became powerful enough to warrant spending three feat points on it but that can easily rectified. Also, you can acquire enough feat points to master all three. Aurara: " You couldn't use more than one feat at a time, so it was *worthless* to master them all" Not necessarily true. Different situations often call for different tactics. Morgoth: "Giving a game 90% and then ranting the whole time about it is just a bit "irrational" for my taste." Not so, 2001: A Space Odyssey, is a fantastic movie. It's made with a skill and precision that put it on par with greats like Citizen Kane or Casablanca. It pushed the boundaries of movie making and presents us with some of the most powerful imagery in American cinema. Yet, it bores me to tears. If asked about this movie I will go on about how god awful I thought it was. Most people can differentiate between their personal reaction and more objective criteria.
