  1. Yes, I also drop kicked every one of them. I was going to go with the VTC til they wanted me to murder a bunch of people with their broken animancy teleporter. Put into perspective all the conscience wrestling I had done with Maia about her missions. I had sympathy with the Rauataians for wanting to fix their storm problem. Then when I went solo to Ukaizo and stopped the storm, they had to attack me for it? Why? I might have possessed the knowledge they needed to fix the storms. I was going to go with the Principi, but somehow I couldn't convince Furrante to stand down even though I had found Castrol's letter in his quarters. He says "you have no proof" and I had to agree with him- wut? So I said screw them, too. The Huana were the most sympathetic since it's their home, but they're as terrible to their own as the outsiders are to them, and their declaration that Ukaizo would be banned to foreigners was doomed to fail. I kind of screwed them inadvertently by releasing their dragon and convincing Tekehu to follow his bliss, I guess. Might have done that differently.
  2. I can't tell if it's the patch or that I was at the end game, but yes I had several ctd's and several near misses (screen freeze and then recover).
  3. 90 hours on my first playthrough (with some restarts) + Beautiful locations and effects + Sea shanties + Reactivity from PoE1- even with some import bugs, it was still really nice + Multiclassing- I was skeptical at first, but ended up enjoying a druid-ranger hybrid, and Tekehu's druid-chanter hybrid was useful. You run out of spells very fast with the new combat system. + Fast travel to interior locations. Mixed: Companion stories were hit or miss. I misted up at Serafen's, and was surprised by how well Maia's was resolved. Eder's was frustrating. Aloth's and Pallegina's seemed a little bit shoehorned in. I'm still confused by Xoti's- what were we really doing with her lantern? Why is she so happy even though she learned the gods are fake? Tekehu's was interesting when taken together with the Watershaper Guild quest and Ukaizo, but I probably picked the wrong thing by having him go his own way since it seems all he does is create whimsical water statues, just bigger ones. - Companion interaction felt lacking and the disposition system seemed forced- this is my biggest negative in the game, since I give a lot of importance to companions. - Sidekicks were kind of wasted IMO. I never used them, wish we had gotten more with the full companions instead. Rekke a possible exception, but he could have been an NPC encounter. - Faction quest lines gave me no particular reason to care about them and all want to involve you in dastardly deeds. I ended up going solo to Ukaizo. - Ship combat could use some work. At the beginning you're being attacked a lot and it's repetitive. By the time I got enough gold to buy a bigger ship, there were no more enemies. I have mixed feelings about the main quest. The interaction with Eothas was good. Ukaizo was impressive. By the end I was confused why I was there- what was I supposed to accomplish? Overall I would give it 3/5, with companion stories and faction ambiguity holding things back.
  4. If the Watcher can hire minions to guard her castle, she can hire a nanny or wetnurse. The other question is how Vela survived the destruction of Caed Nua. Maybe she was visiting auntie GM in Dyrford at the time.
  5. Didn't we also have to kill an innocent good guy for Vela? So its like the worst decision possible. I never took her in the previous playthrouhgs. The only reason I am taking her now is because Deadfire forced my hand by making her adorable. He attacks you. I consider attack with no quarter to be justifiable self defense. And I say the Watcher can shepherd as many lost souls as she wants, be they stray animals, orlan babies being killed by their foster parents, or whatever else they get up to.
  6. Finally finished the game. It says I "divested Xoti of her virtue" then dumped her. Uh... no, I sure didn't. Didn't get anywhere near that ditzy redneck's virtue. I'm reminded of Leliana in Dragon Age, who would hump a female Warden's leg no matter how many times you told her no.
  7. But what if he WAS written with various physical interactions? Wouldn't you be more upset he wasn't a romance in the end? Because this would lead you on even more. I mean there are already so many disappointed fans of his out there, this would just make it worse. Besides no other non-romance companion has physical interactions, i.e. Pallegina, or Serafen for that matter as far as I recall. You can flirt with him but I don't remember if there is any touching. Thus, if you included more roleplaying options for Eder as a non-romance you'd have to include it for others as well for fairness sake, again Pallegina (regardless whether they respond in kind). Which would be counter-productive imho. I love Eder, I really do, but I don't see why one companion should get special treatment over the others. Pallegina clasps your arm in the final quest (I assume it requires + VTC). She initiates. I would think it weirder if companions who hadn't traveled and suffered and triumphed together didn't hug, or whatever manly gesture you prefer. That's why Eder's story seems weirdly detached.
  8. Just chiming in, I can't find Nungata on her bench, either. Trying to turn in Flamewalker Vessali.
  9. I found it a bit much, yes. You can say no- and then listen to their pissed off responses every time you click on them from then on. As for the bisexuality, I'm sure it's for economy of resources. Face it, the romances are pretty basic. Not a lot was invested into them.
  10. I love them all and had a hard time between Roll the Old Berath's Wheel and Haul Away and Go, but chose the former. I like that Haul Away and Go references the Battle of Yenwood Field.
  11. Instead of dragging the menagerie item into the slot, left click it to lift it up and then left click it into the slot. Or thats what worked for me when I was having the same issue before this patch, so it's worth a shot. Thanks. I got the Junk and it correctly installed with dragging. Aaaand, after I got an upgraded ship and bigger crew, I never have any sea encounters anymore.
  12. It seems to me that Xoti in particular gets more zealous the further you go in the game, so her unwillingness to deal honestly with the identity of the gods is a compensation. I mean, Eothas basically tells you, if someone has made that their mental grounding, simply telling them otherwise is not going to change them.
  13. I like the continuing development of previous characters, though in this game I feel the disposition system turned them into figureheads for their points of view rather than full individuals.
  14. I don't know if this is a bug, but you get this line with any background (along with "It's rare to see one of your kind so far north" or something like that, which I get even on my Living Lands character - what are you even talking about, people, my homeland is as far in the north as it can be!). Okay. I remembered that this is something said in the Brass Citadel. He might just mean Dyrwoodans.
  15. Steam auto installs it though? Your character has to always pick the most dull / I'm so sensible options as well as acting like that. Mine has resorted to drink because he finds himself so dull xD I think I do- except my character has high Clever this time, maybe he doesn't appreciate rapier wit and insight? I give up, I really do. He can go sulk in a corner.
  16. I'm having trouble installing upgrades. I try to install the Menagerie, it prompts me if I want to add it and I hit "Accept," then nothing happens. Any advice?
  17. Some Huana will remark on my character from White That Wends: "Your people travel even more than ours do." Not sure if that's true or if it's just a reaction to seeing her in the Deadfire, since I've only seen maybe one or two pale elves. No reaction from the boreal dwarves you encounter on Nemnok's island. Nature godlike- Many comments on people hoping that her presence will be a blessing. Nice reaction from some bog druids who recognize her as blessed of Galawain and let her pass. Druid- You can rest at shrines as long as someone in the party has high enough Religion to identify them.
  18. Aloth just has no positive triggers. Many, many negative ones- negatives for everyone- but I play a pretty dutiful, benevolent character and I can't crack a 1. He reacts to the most random stuff.
  19. After fumbling around learning the mechanics, I got so most ship battles are trivial. It seems tedious to me, especially when I just want to go do my thing. It's too repetitive. And I can't believe how much ale these jokers can quaff.
  20. I gave her the two handed sword created using the fragments from Caed Nua (found in the captain's quarters of your ship). She's pretty hardy for me. You could also give her a pike or spear and keep her behind Eder, as an off-tank.
  21. Aloth mentions the gods being Engwithan creations during his quest. I think they know, they either just don't think it matters or don't believe it.
  22. I've been stuck with Aloth at 1 forever. I think it's so weird that you don't get any disposition points for traipsing all over the Deadfire pursuing their personal goals.
  23. I gave Eder the Boots of Leap (found in Fort Deadlight), had him leap in between the mooks and Giacolo, and kept the other ones busy with Binding Web. Then I also lined my crew up in between him and them. If one of the others gets free, they'll kill him, so you have to keep all of them away. Use Eder's knockdown and stun abilities also.
  24. Galawain never acknowledged my nature godlike, either. For all we know, Ondra is only using Tekehu to get to you- he's never heard her voice, after all.
  25. In which case, yes Xoti, you are kind of immature. Also has anyone actually gotten this line in the game? Just because it is in the files doesn't mean you can actually get it, and if it actually isn't in game it could be retconned/ignored on a whim. Yes I did. Because I had the same reaction to Xoti as Pallegina, heh.
