Any team that gets Pronger will likely be much improved. That would be a GREAT deal for the Leafs.

Players and enemies competing on the same terms

"My teacher used to be in the gaming industry and he hates the idea of people playing HIS games "the wrong way", so he dislikes people playing others games in the wrong way aswell." Your teacher is stupid. Besides, D&D encourages rule changes. In fact, it's in the rules that rule changes are encouraged in D&D. Check out Rule 0. Game over. -
The Flyers benefited too. They had a great run of seasons with lindros ebfore his career went downhill because the mass of concussions he got. The big difference between Philly and Colorado is that Colorado actually had possibly the bets goalie ever inbetween the pipes helping them. Philly had tons of goalies who ultimately failed. I think I'd agree though, and say that Coloarado/Quebec had the advanatge of the trade; but only because Forsberg is just as good as Lindros. Then throw in the other players, and the trade obviously shifts towards Coloarado. Of course, if Roy was playing with Philly and not Colorado, it would probably be Philly with those Cups. Remember, Philly was in a not so pleasant place when they got Lindros.

"What is so wrong with Edmonton? I've almost never heard of anyone (except Lindros who didn't want to end up in a french-canadian district) breaking a contract because the geography isn't good enough..?" It's doubtful he's broken a contract. Pronger requested a trade and I doubt 'don't ask for a trade' was in the contract. IIRC, Lindros didn't break a contract with Quebec as he didn't want any part of Quebec and didn't even sign one in order to break it. That's a while back so I might be wrong there; but I don't think so. Quebec traded the rights to signing him away. As for the apparant anti Edmonton sentiment by the Prongers. meh. Every city is not for everyone. They're probably not the first people to not care for a city they live in. Heck, I lived in a city named Timmins that I disliked big time for my own personal reasons. And, I'm sure most people have a city they lived in or still do that they dislike and wish they had the ability to move away. I don't know why Edmontonians take it so personally. I know I don't cry if someone says they hate North Bay, or my home town. *shrugs* I guess I'm weird that way. <>

Agreed, overall. But, sometimes I do bend the rules a little. But, it's very rare. And, I can't recall *ever* giving npcs special powers that a PC could never hope to have. Closest to that is the one or two times the PCs encountered an avatar (one was an ally, and the other they didn't defeat nor did they really 'lose')... -
PST is a good game; but it's not in the top 10 games. Top 10 stories; but not top 10 games.

"Well why would I include Central and South America?" Hmm.. You must have meant "why wouldn't I..." with this. Heh.
-
Because... if youa re going lump Kanadians with our US neighbours due to us being in North Amerika; it would make sense to includ our South and Central brethren as 'Amerikans' too since they are in 'Amerika' (in the way you are using it) too. North, Central, and South Amerika *all* make up The Amerikas so in that regard we're all 'Amerikans'.
-
LOL @Lonewolf and Dark Raven. Craigboy: You must be mistaking me for someone else. I like the US,a nd often dfend them (though it's far from perfect) nor am I intimidated by all the 'hate' (or, what I'd like to call, jealousy). There is a diofference between North Amerikan, and Amerikan. Amerikan tends to be used in reference to US citizens, and Kanadian for Kanadians. We are all North Amerikans though. Our area is North Amerika; not Amerika unless you are including Central and South Amerika then it's referred to as THE Amerikas. All these Amerikas are gonna explode this message.
-
Rangers need to make a trade for another defenseman, or sign one. Possibly Brian Leetch.
-
Kanada is a part of North Amerika. Not Amerika. It's a subtle but truthful difference. We Kanadians identify ourselves by your country; not the island we're on. Call me a North Amerikan, and I can accept that. I will NEVER be an Amerikan.

"Ben Affleck's acting skills are only comparable to your typing skills Volo." No one is that bad. No one. "Snootchie Bootchie!!" Someone agrees! Kevin Smith's movies are neato, and you don't need to be Amerikan to see that, just need good taste. "Kanadia is in Amerika." Not quite true. Kanada is in North Amerika. When someone says Amerika it's usually in reference to the US. Afterall, we Kanadians are referred to as Kanadians for a reason while Amerikans are referred to as Amerikans (not United Stateians). No offense taken though. You aren't the first to make that mistake. "Between this and the NHL thread, Volologic is running full force today." Awww... I see your trolling skills are on display, today. Attacking the poster, and not discussing the actual posts (or simply ignoring them). Tsk, tsk.

No. Most of his movies are good. And, Jersey Girl is a Kevin Smith movie and is a part of his portfolio, and it's also his best movie. And, Ben Affleck, is amazingly udnerrated. Even the crappy movies he's done are much improved by his prescence - see Surviving Christmas. Crap movie overall; but watchable because of Affleck being the great actor he is. I will watch Clerks 2 (Clerks 1 is ok; but overrated) when it comes out on video because I don't go to the theatre. P.S. To squash the bigotry, I'm not Amerikan.

"but you can bet she'll be plenty happy to live in any crap-hole for the money Pronger is making." Youa re misisng one important fact. Money isn't the issue. It's not a choice between being paid lots of money to be miserable in Edmonton or being paid little but be happy elsewhere. Pronger is gonna get lots of money no matter where he plays so this is a dead issue money wise. And, it is sexist comment. 'wear the pants in the family' is a sexist comment by default. If you can't see that then *shrug*. It implies that only males who wearpants can be in charge of the family, and a woman who does is taking over the 'male role'.

"Blaming Edmonton is silly. Each city has unique aspects, and they won't always mix well with certain players. New York has it's own problems. Theo Fleury and Sandis Ozolinsh are prime examples of players who couldn't handle the big apple." Agreed. Which is why I think calling him names, and wishing him the worst does nothing. When Fleury's time in NY fell apart, I didn't start bashing him. I wished him well, and moved on. Same with that NJ guy who the Rangers overpaid, and who udnerperfromed. "exactly, its not like the oiler made him sign with them, Edmonton's only responsibility is to pay him" Not exactly true. While legally (depending on contract) that's all they need to. For a business, and an employee to have a long lasting relationship; the business must do what they cna to make the employee happy (and, vice versa). Obviously, the Oilers didn't do a good job with that. Sure, they paid them; but obviously they failed at keeping him happy. I mean, if nearly winning the stanley cup, and paying him very well isn't enough; obviously soemthingw ent wrong. And, I'm sure when the POilers courted Pronger they pimped the city starting how 'awesome' Edmonton was'. From Pronger's view, they were seemingly wrong. But,s till at this time, Edmonton has him by the ballz. They can either make him stay and let everyone become really miserable; or try to find the best trade deal to improved their team. I think the fact that pronger player his herat out this year despite obvious misgivings with the team, and city says a lot for his character and he should be reccommended for that. More than a few players would have dogged it if didn't like the situation they were in. Neither Edmonton or Pronger should be treated as 'bad guys' in this situation. Think of it as a couple splitting up due to the fact it simply doesn't work for one (or both) of them. "Clearly his wife wears the pants." Stop being sexist. 1. We don't know she was the (main) reason for his wanting to leave. 2. As her husband, it's his job to try to make her happy. If she's miserable in Edmonton - for whatever reason - he should try to help her through it. If that means moving from the city so be it. He's not the first nor will he be the last spouse to leave a job/city because their signifacnt other was unhappy. 3. The only reason people are 'upset' over this is because they are selfish. You don't care if Pronger and wife are miserable - as long as you get what you want which is another reasonw hy Pronger should do his best to what is best for his family.
-
"Pronger is a fool. Edmonton is a great place...he's obviously just insecure about his own skills after the Cup and he's looking for something to blame." Don't blame the Prongers. Blame Edmonton. Obviously, Edmonton cna't offer what they need/want. Pronger shouldn't be PC just to make Edmontonians happy. His main goal should be to make him, and HIS family happy. LOLOLOLOLLIPOP As a Ranger fan, I'll welcome with open hands. And, the city of NY will show Edmonton how to keep their players happy since Edmonton obviously sucks at doing that even when money isn't an issue. Edited to preserve the dignity of Edmonton (the residents of which fine city should not reveal the spoilers).

Nearly every game wins Game of the year. It depends on who is giving the award out. So, yeah, it did win a(more than one actually) GOTY award.
-
Luongo is likely not even in the top 5 goalies. He's the very defintion of overrated. Kinda reminds me of that the Montreal Kanadians goalie that fell apart this year, and a few others.
-
Haha! Edmonton can't even keep their best players happy even during a Stanly Cup run! And, it's obviously, likely not a money issue either. Haha! "so I don't know what reasons he would have for changing that." According to the story, this is something -whatever it is - that has been bothering him throughout the season. It would have to be something major, I think considering the playoff success. The Oilers would have almost zero chance to redo this next year without him. Though, of course, the Oilers have him by the ballz contract wise.. still, it's no good to keep a guy who doesn't want to play for you. That simply spells disaster.
-
"As for the awards...meh. I don't really see why the playoffs don't count." This has been discussed before, and the answer should be obvious. The awards are for the regular season. The play off are seperate. This is why there's a seperate MVP for regualr season, and play offs. It is illogical to count play offs.
-
"even with the dreaded "East Coast Bias" A myth if there ever was one. But, hey, I guess the players chose Jagr because the players have an 'east coast bias'. R00fles!
-
Stupid Writers' Association! Idiots don't know the TRUE MVP if they got hit by him in the face! LONG LIVE THE NHL PLAYERS WHO ARE SMARTER!!!

"find basketball exciting to watch, probably because I know what's going on in the game and understand the nuances." *yawn*
-
"I never bought into the correlations of goals scored = excitement. I've seen my share of low scoring games in games such as hockey that were very exciting to watch." Like Arkan mentions, it's not the lack of goals that makes soccer boring (to me); it's just simply a boring game. In fact, I find this year's NHL - while still entertaining - not as exciting as past seasons despite the increase in goals. Soccer is just plain, old fashion boring. It's ok to play (just like 99% of sports); but really, really boring. Even basketball - which is also pretty boring to watch despite it's 100-90 scores - is more exciting. Not to mention baseball which is defacto 'slow paced' due to the way it's played (no actual time limits) is much more interesting. Soccer is just plain boring. Europeans just love it because it happens to be 'their' sport. And, I say let them have it! Then again, they despite their protests, seem to like NFL Football hence the mainstay of NFL Europe. LOLLERS!!!
