Got this bug.

Memory leak fighting Medreth
Volourn replied to slackmackan's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
Yeah got this one too. It lagged huge during fight couldn't do anything. This likely could be after effect of the multiplying board bug. Also, Merdeth seems to a spam sneak attack 20+ times in a row which also likely left to the super lag. -
Dragon Age: Inquisition vs. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Volourn replied to ktchong's topic in Computer and Console
"So because I don't have the same opinion as you I'm a CD Projekt employee. Nice way to dismiss my post, quite dissrespectful too. If you are joking and you're not serious I'm sorry for the agressive reply but I've had several people on other forums accusing people of being employees or marketers for a specific company just because they happen to prefer a game over another, and those guys have been serious." Oh please. I've been called a BIo employee./plant plenty of times. Even though I trash them lots (including about their latest nonsense annoucned as a fake game). Stop worrying about silly stuff like someone making an obvious tongue in cheek joke. HOLY MOLY! P.S. I disagree with your assessment. Twitcher 3 is gonna suck like the other two. It has more in common with MMOs than DA3 does. The only think Twitcher series does right is b00bs.- 256 replies

Update #84: Welcome to the Backer Beta
Volourn replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Downloading now. I think complaining about not qualifying for the private beta when the requirements/cost have been known since basically the KS started seems silly. Anyways, should be inetresting. Time to play dwarfy! -
Dragon Age: Inquisition vs. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Volourn replied to ktchong's topic in Computer and Console
"There is nothing sexist about a person asking a development company to be concerned about gender representation for the protagonist in there games?" It is sexist when you refuse to play a certain game simply because it doesn't have a preferred gender. I doubt you'd be approving if some rapist scumbag male refused to play Tomb Raider because it has an icky female as the protagonist right with no option to play male? Hmm...- 256 replies

Dragon Age: Inquisition vs. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Volourn replied to ktchong's topic in Computer and Console
"Dragon Age! One, I'm a semi biodrone, and two.. I won't play a new (anything from '08 onward) game that does not allow me the ability to be female. (and I'm not saying all games need female leads, and I WANT to try witcher or GTA, but I will support the companies or play their games while the gap between male and female leads is so large.)" Why so sexist? "Can you say the same for a console game?" Yes.People still play Atari games and the like. "Anyway. Xbox is not an option for me." XBOX is not the only option. There's also PS. You sure have a lot of companies who you feud with. L0L Perhaps, it's not them but you. MS had no problem giving me a new xbox when i suffered RROD even w/o a receit. Hmm.. And, xbox live account bans are easy to bypass. And, why use a credit card. Easier way to get MS points than giving credit card info out. Win-win.- 256 replies

"Now on hypothetical "Sneak past enemies to get exp", well, okay, let's say you sneak past the beetles and get exp on other side of the field. Should you also get exp if you instead go around the beetles without ever getting close to them? Like, if there are two roads that lead to place you want to get to, one of them has beetles and one of them has nothing on it. Should you also get exp for choosing the road that has nothing in it despite the fact that isn't challenge at all? I guess you could argue that you get exp for being smart and avoiding the risk, but... Yeah, I'm pretty sure everyone thinks that'd be too easy. So if you only get exp for choosing the road with beetles and either fighting them or sneaking past them, then the game is telling you "Don't choose the road with nothing, since you don't get any exp at all"" I don't believe in everything should be balanced equally. Soemtimes combat method should be rewarded more; sometimes tlaking should, and sometimes sneaking. ie. If you are asked to break into a museum and steal some exhibit without killing the guards and you do you should get less xp. XP reward is about succeeding and there should/could be different levels of 'success' hence different rewards. If you are hired by the king to get rid of the dragon who is terorrizing the land and you turn around and make a deal with the dragon who agrees not to on a mass murder spree IF the king agrees to give up a virgin once a month the king isn't gonna be as satisifed if you just outright kill the beast. Even 'sacring' the dragon away shouldn't be as beneficial as the king could argue that it could always come back when you leave. Hence more experience for killing it. Etc., etc.

"he would have to download and install EA Origin to activate the product, buy more BioWare Points than he would need, and then use those Points to buy DLCs at full prices." You don't need EA Origin or Bioware points for the DLC.- 256 replies

"And I like how "worthy of exp" sounds like its some kind of measure. Since the objective exp system isn't about which tasks are "worth" the exp. Its more about game designer having more precise control over player's level since they can't level grind so max level player can have at any encounter is known by the designer." So why give out xp at all? Just have the designer give you levels whenever it suits their purpose. Start of game = level 1 , ch2 = level 5, ch 3 = level 9, and ch 4 = level 12. No need for xp.

We will! Hardcore discussions about hardcore issues in hardcore games is what this thread is about. Not whetehr or not you like someone or not. Also, if you hate me and this thread why not post in other threads like that romance one. It seems up your alley! I'm opinionated. Not a troll. That be you. Taking the time to post in a thread "You are all dumbdumbs for posting in this thread. L0L peace out, homies." is 100% trolling. BACK ON TOPIC AGAIN: If a dragon replaced those beetles would it worthy of xp or not?

Dragon Age: Inquisition vs. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Volourn replied to ktchong's topic in Computer and Console
DA. Because Twitcher is ****. If I liked both I would buy both. ie. If PE was a normal release, I'd be buying both DA and PE at the same time. But, the question is easy to answer DA. I presume people who like both series will buy both and if one likes one and hates the other... well, simple choice. If one hates both sucks to be them.- 256 replies

"<_< Wow, you REALLY are a troll ._.;" Troll? You are the one who posted in this thread just to attack others. Your entire post was a personal and irect attack on everyone who POSTED ON TOPIC. If you aren't gonna participate in the topic go post in another thread but nooooooooooooo attack everyone and call them names. LMAO Good job. BACK ON TOPIC: XP is Good. Period.

"So hyped that you used the actual quote button to quote!" 'Cause I was quoting myself from another thread so it's a special circumstance.

"hy can't this thread be locked? Nobody says anything new and it has gotten to the point where people insult each other and when someone wisely quits other side is like "HAHAH, I'M WINNER FOR TIRING OUT THE OPPOSITION THROUGH BULLCRAP" This conversation is fricking cyclical, One side says x other side says y, the first side replies with z, other side replies with b, first side replies with x, other side replies with y, etc this conversation isn't fricking productive when everyone keeps saying same thing over and over and acts incredibly smug about it Everyone in this thread is either strawmanning each other, ignoring their arguments in favor of "I'm right" or making really illogical arguments. Dang it, today(in my timezone at least, though they probably wait until its 12 AM in america or something... Stupid America centric timezones, I don't want to wait until 20:00 to get my beta key) is the day when beta is released so at least try it out first before continuing this discussion. AND everyone keeps putting words into each other mouth and appears to have really bad reading comprehension problems... This thread gives me headache, but its like watching a trainwreck..." Why are you trying to ruin our fun by being so insulting and mean to both sides? Nobody was being hurt until you showed your immature face. I mean, at least the rest of us were discussing the topic. You only posted to attack others. That's it. Go troll the Lollipop Guild and let us Hardcore Gamers discuss serious game issues. Thank you very much, good sir.

p.s. I think all my 'discussion' this past week + the vids hyped me up to much I can't wait to play. L0L

Fighter's health
Volourn replied to Caerdon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
That's easy. Just have your shield carrier 'lead the charge' (be a few feet in front) and have your mages way back. This helps keep 90% (obviously not all will come toward him) but it largely works. Espicially against tough enemies like dragons. A well equipped shield warrior can even have someone like Firkragg miss him. -
Fighter's health
Volourn replied to Caerdon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Shields give you more than +1 to your ace. They gave as much as +3 (for the big ones) and as much as +5 with magical oines. That's +8 which is the equivelant of non maghical full plate. Not to mention the other benefits a magical shield could bring. Yeah, you do less damage but you can last a lot longer. "The problem with the Infinity Engine was that since health means nothing except for the fight you're in," How so unless you rest between every single battle? "healing magic is readily available" That's true to a point but most healing spells ( except heal spell obviously) is of little use in tougher battles when you got enemies tht if they hit you they hit you hard. There are advanatges to all three main melee styles. The best party would have a character with two weapon style, weapon + shield, and a 2 hander. Best of all worlds. Then you can use your weapon and shield to draw the fire. "It's similar to how early level D&D characters often have to rest every few encounters." That's an awful way to play DnD. I certainly didn't rest every 2-3 battles in BG. -
"tablet/e-reader." You own that trash? And, do you keep it by your compute in case you need to look something up while playing so you don't have to quit out (or tab out or whatever) to check it? Nope, physical manual will always be the best way to do things. P.S. Don't expect me to cry a single tear for trees. Trees have been around forever and they'll be here much longer than me and when I die no tree will ever shed a single tear for me so if they have no mercy I won't either.

Steam found my weakness.... PE...

"No, I simply assume that the devs know better than me when and where to place XP" L0L In my experience of playing games, the devs almost always don't know better than me. I may be a loser but when it comes to RPGs I know my ****. I guess you believe Arcanum's way of handling xp was awesome since the devs decided to do it, right? Answer carefully. And, let's not forgte that Obsidian has also used and likely will again use xp for kills in their games. You still think they know better than you? Why hide behind the devs? The devs are not always right. Shocking, I know.

"Do tell me how my logic sucks, Volourn." Let me try a different over exaggerated switcheroo on you. Say, instead of beetles it was a dragon on the road. Same scenario. Not tied to any quests or objective or npc telling you to do it. Just hanging around the road, instantly hostile, do you think it should give xp for 'beating it' or be treated like the beetles are? Just random trash mobs with no real purpose.

Protection from evil would stop the fear. How did you handkle the 4 swords in one of the tombs? A LOT of people had trouble with that one when it first came out. Ah. Been a while since I play the OC. I remember now this Ganon guy.
