  1. I'm like that too...lots of shows I've only tried because Netflix exists. And I tend to like shows (and movies) that my husband doesn't, so my watching stuff on the PC keeps us from arguing. Or if he's using the TV to play games, or if it's late at night and I want to use headphones...easier on the PC. ...The Voice has been the only singing show that hubby finds tolerable enough to sit through vs. leaving the room.
  2. I suspect at least some of them will still buy the game when it's released in a final form, assuming the final form still interests them at all. Some just aren't willing to "fund" it, even if they are sorta interested. ...I haven't backed many KS projects at all, for instance, despite the fact many have been interesting/tempting. While I support KS's model for game/other funding, it just takes a lot to let loose my credit card for online purchase of anything. I didn't even have an Amazon account until Project Eternity finally got me to make one.
  3. That used to happen to me too. I'd walk home from a friend's house at night when I was a kid and there was this one row of street lights in particular. I didn't see it as magical, however. More like Freddy Kruger creepy...to the point I'd move and walk down the middle of the road instead.
  4. That would be cool. Sometimes I think part of our affection and anthropomorphizing of animal buddies is that seeming human desire to not be alone in the universe.
  5. Sad but true. The quality of the Divinity series is really high but it was always more the underdog compared to the much better known D&D classics. I think the move to turn-based is turning some away, too. Not me personally, but just saying. I've seen a lot of comments to that effect in other forums, even from people who've played the previous games.
  6. It's kinda nice having a thread for TV vs. just using the movie thread... ...saw the 1st episode of Hannibal series. Hubs didn't like the emphasis on visual effect over chr/plot, but since it's used to try to show how the Graham character mentally "sees things," it didn't bother me. My problem with the show is that the guy playing Hannibal does not in any way match my mental image of Hannibal, which I find really distracting. And I don't mean because he doesn't look like Anthony Hopkins. Because of this, I'm not sure I can watch the show. It wasn't badly done however. Except ... Laurence Fishburne added nothing to the show. I used to love him, but he wasn't that good on CSI and now this.
  7. I know nothing about guns, but isn't it possible US guns could have a reason for it looking to be on backwards, even if it isn't? Not to mention, it's the internet. These days I hardly trust any photo. Which is an annoying side-effect of photoshop-in-every-hand, actually.
  8. Being Liked doesn't seem to affect my ability to edit. However, even tho I don't have "mod powers" that forum, I do still have the ability to not have the "edited by" line show up, so it still may not apply to me. If anyone else notices this effect, outside of the usual time-limit on editing posts, let us know.
  9. Made a post in the Obsidian General forum. If someone would care to "like" it?
  10. This is a short post to test a board feature. ***This is additional text I edited in later. ... so I'd say for me at least, the Like function doesn't affect my ability to edit.
  11. I don't think it would apply to me, since I'm a moderator with editing powah. Maybe in one of the sections where I'm not a mod.
  12. Re: big cats - there's always the famous case of Christian the lion. (I've seen the whole documentary...it's awesome). Think cats can't/don't remember bonds? Yea....no. I've had similar things with housecats too. Gave one away to someone else when I had too many. When I went to visit that person/cat over a year later, the cat instantly recognized me and ran over/head butted me.
  13. MMO....so....no, not me. Altho if there was ever an organized, Obsidian forum MMO-party-day for some game, I might - emphasis on might - join in for a session. Always thought that would be funny.
  14. Really? Has it always been like that I wonder? ...went to bed early and pretty much slept for 10 hours. Today I still feel physically terrible. Gotta keep moving tho, because lying still for too long is just as bad as bending or lifting things can be. Blargh.
  15. Fishing is great for relaxation. It was a nice day, warm but not too warm. Cute cat outside, cute cat inside, I had my bases covered. Now going to finish watching that Defiance episode from SyFy. Maybe. My back and left wrist joint have been killing me the past 2 days, might nap more first.
  16. Assuming he survives his injuries. But yeah....and good luck finding an "impartial" jury. More importantly, hopefully they'll be able to get more info, if there is any - eg did they act alone or what was going on. Anyway, glad it's over and no more loss of life occurred capturing him.
  17. Yeah, this whole incident has me thinking about those kinds of things a lot. On the one hand, social media/connectivity can be used/be useful, on the other hand, more often than not, it just gets in the way and spreads misinformation/panic/hate etc. Not to mention, in some ways, it starts to feel a bit like the world is now a single, mass lynchmob that moves from one sensational thing to another. It was bad enough before social media ... makes me a bit uncomfy. But such is life.
  18. Ah, ok. Guess the "comedians" on Twitter will have to stop making those Slurpee jokes. I've only been checking in now and then, but I'm probably still paying more attention than I might normally. A lot of Red Sox twitter peeps from Boston area in my timeline, freaking out. Just wish it was over.
  19. Just to answer your question .... yes, it is. The timeline supposedly goes something like this: --assumption that suspects went into a panic after FBI released photos of them --they rob a 7-11 near MIT --they encounter MIT police officer and during encounter shoot him --they carjack a Mercedes SUV and later released the driver (or driver managed to escape) --Police search for/follow SUV to Watertown --gunfight in Watertown with 1 suspect wounded, other manages to flee.
  20. "The Evil Within" ....so is this just another action-y mutant zombie game, then? Not survival/horror rpg? Kinda looks that way. Ah well. Not for me.
  21. They've put out their official requests for social media people to stop doing it, actually. Respect it. I realize they probably do have other means of communication but seriously....it's just irresponsible when you don't know the situation. The guy might be able to view twitter but not load the scanner stuff/have a police scanner himself. Point is we don't know. At least don't relate such for 20 minutes or something. PS I think CNN's been doing a lot of delay (a short delay) showing on their video or something, so they can omit potential images etc.
  22. I'm finding that irritating. Not that people are listening (I've been doing that myself off and on) but that they're then blabbing it all over the internet. It's what the law forces use to communicate with each other, reporting their movements/situations. Don't frakking announce/repeat their movements all over the internet in real time for ***** sake. The suspect may still have internet/twitter etc. access too y'know. Same with media news people. Don't endanger any lives please. Sheesh. That all said ... essentially shutting down all of Boston now and I think I heard it's also become a no-fly zone? That's pretty much unheard of (for a manhunt)? I tried to go to sleep but it's so nuts I got back up to listen in again.
  23. If I did that, I'd seriously, really need a much bigger desk arrangement...
  24. It would, so far, appear that the MIT/Watertown chaos would be a chase for the "Boston bombers." Stuff like Boston Police twitter post posting a new pic of one of them. And it's still going on. 1 suspect shot/died later in custody, the other still at large. Complete public transportation shutdown in and out of Watertown. Sounds nuts. Well, hope they get him without any further deaths and such. Boston.com Live blog.
  25. Some huge police/fed firefight at MIT campus a bit earlier. Conflicting reports on police scanners/news about whether it's connected to the Marathon bombings or unrelated. Either way...sheesh. Poor Boston. Not a good week. edit: Guess the chase for one suspect still going on actually.
