  1. Dangit, headache still there. Feeling a bit nauseated too. Migrane/pseudo migrane or whatever. I don't get those too often and they don't usually last this long, it's becoming aggravating. Guess I'm snoozing with a towel over my face most of today, too. If you mean pen and paper, that requires long-term finger joint dexterity that I no longer have. Plus my handwriting these days is about as legible as the average doctor. I used to handwrite journals/poetry, but longer fiction was always on a typewriter. Old typewriters you couldn't easily correct any better than handwriting (white-out/manual crossing out with notes squeezed in white spaces), so it seemed the same in that regard really....except it's hard to lug a typewriter to the park. I also like the clattery sound of typewriter keys. Silent typewriters are no fun. I miss my little 70's (electric) Corona 110. Still had the manual push-handle carriage return, something else I loved. I suppose the older Corona's are pricey these days when you can get one. Grandparents had one, but I never had one myself.
  2. I don't think even in the later M&M's that I ever tried an exclusively archer party make up. But I tend to prefer ranged over melee in almost everything, so I'd often have mage/cleric/archer, then either a 2nd mage, 2nd archer, or maybe a melee...but that melee guy would always get equipped with a bow and 95% of the time would just use that, regardless of whether it was his "best" skill/dmg. Mostly because I'd rarely stay in melee range. His sword arm was for when I absolutely had to have it, like in certain dungeons/fights. Or occasionally I'd play solo ranged via never resurrecting the others. Mages would have bows as well as backups. Course...like I said, that was in the later M&M's. For all I know that's not even possible in this one (non-archers equipping bows, I mean). Anyway...I'm not concerned with whether it's the *best* or fastest or even the most efficient method. Only whether it'd be do-able without wanting to toss one's keyboard across a room before long.
  3. I think you're being unfair to creators there. The problem is creations oriented on a mass market. They inevitably fail to achieve depth. For the simple reason that resonating with a fool's worldview and resonating with a wise person's worldview are totally different jobs. Eh, what? I was in no way trying to make some grand statement about how creators should be catering to my personal whims or something. Actually, it wasn't a statement against anything at all, really. Only a recognition of my own inner self.
  4. It would be understandable if they wanted to at least mitigate the overall ease of ranged vs. melee that's often a difficult balancing thingie in games, but it would feel odd to me if physical ranged was truly so limited in usefulness, assuming of course that one is able to build up a party based around such tactics via skill/gear options and all of that. So Keyrock, if you (or anyone else) do try it with an archer-dominant type party some time, I'd be pretty interested in the result.
  5. Head still hurts. Also, I know level of entertainment enjoyment tends to go in phases, but as the periods of my burnout phases comes faster and faster (and last longer and longer) I find media-entertainment less and less desirable to even bother with. I still enjoy them, but I don't *enjoy* them, if that makes any sense. It no longer seem to be enough. Perhaps it's time to return to my own inner imagination, rather than someone else's, and get lost in writing some stories again. Just for me, mind. I have no "author" aspirations. That's too much work. I realized a long while back that writing stuff ultimately was about a mental escape, just like watching a movie/playing a game can be. Used to love being shut away in my room as a kid, banging away at the keys of a typewriter, totally lost in what I was creating. I think it's finally time to return there, now and then. ...at least, if this headache would ever go away. I'm half-tempted to buy a real typewriter, too. Word-processing is not the same. Tons easier....but not the same.
  6. 11:14 - interesting film of a short time period and sequence of events via different perspectives, although perhaps not quite as interesting as it thinks it is. Also of interest to me - Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson) and Patrick Swayze have roles.
  7. EA hasn't exactly been my fave company for a long while, but they're not the devil. Google, on the other hand ...
  8. Technically, drinking too much water in a short period of time isn't healthy either. But I wouldn't advise it. And I hope, Calax, that you aren't seriously considering anything of the sort. Hard to keep putting one foot in front of the other at times, but there's always tomorrow.
  9. Woke up with a horrible headache. Lots of advil later...I still feel terrible.
  10. So I watched an Asylum flick called "Atlantic Rim." One guess which big-name film it's ripping off. Also, "watched" is a loose term. More like I skimmed through it. Anyway, I watched it because I noticed Graham Greene was in it. I used to love Graham Greene. Even he couldn't do anything for this piece of trash film. He was as stilted in delivery and as poorly directed/bored looking as everyone else. Terrible. Poor Graham.
  11. Alvin's gone? Wat? Best wishes and good luck to him.
  12. Went through a box of old VHS tapes and came across ... Gymkata. Which meant I had to watch it. I remember I kept telling a friend how hysterical(ly bad) that one pommel horse scene was when I first saw it and how I was rofl the whole time. Course, at the time it was likely 1am, I'd tuned to it randomly on cableTV and I probably wasn't terribly sober. Anyway...the morning/afternoon flew by and now I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do in the evening. Something fun and preferably a bit wicked.
  13. Showtime's US version of "Shameless" is one weird show. Occasionally really funny, but very weird. I adore William H. Macy (have for years) tho - he's always awesome. I haven't seen all the episodes myself, but hubby's been going through the 1st 3 seasons and I occasionally sit down and watch one.
  14. Spent time running through NW:Online's website dungeon for the 500 medallions I needed for some useless clothing item. Twas less than 3 hours but still...I could have watched a movie instead. But as Bowie might say - "Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fashion!"
  15. ARRRRRR!!! I'm a pirate! Well, at least the pants and hat. Sadly no eyepatch or parrot...but it's still cool! ...but the grates kinda mess with the peg-leg.
  16. Nimoy is the awesome. And for some reason I love his shaggy hair. I wish he could live forever.
  17. Only if they aren't all the same color. I still can't tell all 101 Dalmations apart! ....the past couple years I can (ready for it?) also blame my cat. His unrelenting stare and constant chin rubbing of my shoes can be a series of constant micro-distractions.
  18. Sometimes when you're in a blah/bad mood, you want to see an inspiring, uplifting movie to keep your chin up and give you hope. Other times when you're in a blah/bad mood, you want to see a depressing, downer movie to remind yourself that "hey, at least my life isn't like that." I re-watched The Road. Mission achieved.
  19. Great, now I went and Googled it... I had chicken pox when I was 17. I'm looking forward to the day it comes back as shingles that'll pop up all over my back or something, probably when I'm 60. That'll be fun times! Not.
  20. I barely remember most story animated cutscenes. Always liked the Tombraider1, Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 ones however, and the little convo-scene bits in Kotor 2 were fun. Game intro for Dungeon Keeper 1 still my fave, although mostly for the music (music is often why I remember such things) ... but it might explain my disdain for Knights/Paladins. Myst 1 intro, for the time, was great because it was quite intriguing, with that opening bit and then voice narration. And then of course there's the end of Doom 1.
  21. Yes, I would like to shoot guns with Timothy Olyphant, please. Even if they use fake guns (no clue). http://www.omaze.com/experiences/justified-olyphan
  22. So, I don't keep up with reddit or his YouTube uploads (forgot he had one...), so pardon if everyone's already seen it 20 times, but I had to post it. Also, now I'm caught on up on his silly YT one-liner vids ("put that cookie down!" ), the stogie and the tank, and a couple long reddit AMA's. Which was all awesome.
  23. Not a "movie", but a stop-animation short called Junk Head 1. Anyone else watch this? I came across it randomly (tho I might've heard something about it a while back). For my tastes it's pretty weird, but kinda cool...I'm not sure I entirely "get" it (heheh), but animation is quite amazing, imo. Although there's this one tiny moment where I went "wtf? ewww!" lol. The guy spent years making it by himself - he has the full 30min. version on YouTube now and he's trying to raise money for a sequel. The first 10 minutes: (full version is on his YT profile page too) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vc2i4pFlqYo
  24. I've had "harpooning" melee-class abilities in other games. It can be wickedly fun. Is Shaman the healer class? I wonder if you could play with all mages...used to go 3 mage/Liches+1healer in the later M&M's. X might be a little too difficult (for me) to do something like that tho.
  25. I used to be like that. Had baby-name books and thesaurus on the desk that I'd refer to, even. But these days I just pick from a few I use over and over or use phonetic spellings of some variation of "Ihavetopickanameandcantthinkofone" phrases. Eventually Ubi will likely have enough Uplay games (that I'm interested in) to make installing Uplay worth the bother and I'll cave...just not quite yet. In the mean time ... think I'll look out for a Let's Play to skim through a bit.
