  1. I don't know the reasons behind the changing of past expected requirement listings, but I'd agree with others that they are often a bit over-stated, in that many a bit below "minimum's" may still be able to run the game, just with low settings or resolutions and/or not the best fps numbers. As usual, PC's just have too many variables, both in hardware/drivers and software that may affect things, to make "requirements" absolute, most of the time.
  2. I'm a nightowl so for me it's a debate about whether to try to go to sleep much earlier than usual so I can be certain to be awake at 9am, or to stay up all night and likely pass out mid-afternoon, or just be my natural self and sleep/wake-up/install the game "whenever." Decisions, decisions...
  3. It should be added to your Products tab around actual release.
  4. So I can't get both a Steam and a GOG key? I gotta say, for something that presumably has a marginal cost to you of near-zero (but I spent quite a bit of money on), that's...disappointing. That would mean you'd get two copies of the game tho... ...however, if what you meant is that you're getting multiple digital copies of the game with your reward tier, I'd think you can choose the platform for each one? I don't have that so can't check, but are they listed as separate entries in your backer portal?
  5. Forum was loading much better today, even with 2k online, then suddenly it's lagging page-loads again...looked and almost 3500 online all of a sudden (now 4500, whee, everyone getting off work?). ...almost time to make some dinner etc.
  6. no offense, but if you can't figure out which poe is referenced from the context o' the post, particularly posts on the poe section o' the obsidian message boards, we suspect you have... problems. just saying. HA! Good Fun! Oh Grom, I luvs you so. ...of course it's not hard to tell which is which in context, but it can still cause that microsecond of weirdness, like any other time one sees abbreviations that mean one thing to you but are obviously meaning something else to others.
  7. I sometimes find the PoE thing confusing too, since I've followed (and occasionally played) Path of Exile for maybe 4 years now. But they don't have a monopoly on the abbreviation.
  8. A little, but I think PoE is a bit of a stand-alone in that regard. eg, even a little more than during a typical release.
  9. The install part, no. It may want to briefly connect to Steam to do a verify-check, but that should be it ... unless there's a Day1 patch or something. Preload is (my understanding) a download of compressed/encrypted files/installer. It just has a date-lock on it or whatnot so it can't actually install the game until the release date and you tell it to install.
  10. I believe that any "digital rewards" (pig, soundtrack, pdf etc) will be claimable through the backer portal site soon. They're just not there to select yet - the keys first, other things a bit later I think they've stated.
  11. Steam preload isn't the same as installed ... it still has to uncompress/fully install the downloaded file, which occurs on release day.
  12. I loved Greatest American Hero when it came out.
  13. My usual stockpile of radioactive Diet Mt. Dew. Snacks ... nothing planned but that does remind me that it's probably beef jerky ordering time, so maybe I'll do that that for what will hopefully be a weekend binge session. *symbolic hand waving to ward off any migraines...*
  14. I can never get anything faster via Steam. It's like it's stuck there. Maybe its the router/lan cable hubby has me using or just Crapcast. Oh well, 20-25 minutes or so total is fast enough for me. Is it tomorrow morning yet? *rubs hands gleefully*
  15. If it's a box etc. from one of the KS reward tiers, they have no DRM and thus need no key, you just have to wait until it's mailed to you. Retail store purchased boxes will be Steam-tied.
  16. ^ I keep contemplating uninstalling the PreSequel, because I haven't played it since a week or two after release and I don't see myself doing so any time soon. Hubby finished it once and hasn't used it since. Not playing (sadly) but now preloading my PoE key. Yay. Stranded Deep early access updated too...maybe I'll take it for a spin for an hour to see what's up.
  17. Had to try three times just now to generate my Steam key. ...forgot about the Wasteland game. Not sure if/when I'll get around to that so I think I'll put that one on GoG. *mumbling to herself*
  18. They're certainly not here to listen to my cat tales. Speaking of which, Mr. Black did this REALLY cute thing the other day and ....
  19. @Keyrock I'm envisioning the "badgers" music, only with the words "Ramen ramen ramen ramen" instead. As usual, I am jealous. I would like the new latest and greatest too. The 590 has so far turned out to be a great buy in the long run, but it definitely seems crazy when you initially buy something like that. Always tempting, tho. Maybe the next version...
  20. After first going "Steam", then waffling on that all morning, Steam it is, for the key. I'll always have the backer-box copy if I desperately want to play a non-patched game, in the future, for some oddball reason. ...not that that will likely occur, I just like the thought that I could. Heh. Box version will most likely just sit on a shelf somewhere in a place of honor.
  21. Well, in my book, people saying "they don't recall that being said" doesn't = savaging newcomers or being upset. Certainly wasn't my intention. More like curiosity/trying to figure it out, precisely because I didn't recall such being said.
  22. Based on a dev quote from last night, your backer boxed edition needs no key. So...only the one key is needed in your case.
  23. Or misinterpreted/misconstrued what the dev said. Anyway, of course I don't recall every single thing every dev has said, ever. Only that I don't recall such a promise being made, myself. But if it had been a big/known promise made, I'd have expected a bigger outcry that it didn't occur. I haven't seen anything like that ... just the media-gets-to-play first debate.
  24. I wasn't saying that one would ever have made a party with chrs. who all had mega CON or something, haha. Just that I did tend to put a few points in it for melee chrs (not ranged, mind). Sometimes those few extra health points helped in a big fight imo...depends a lot on playstyle I suppose of course. I tend to like somewhat rounded chrs, to a point, vs. a mega dumping stat to max others higher. The impression I'm getting here tho is that even many "tank" builds may not care at all about any extra CON, which just feels strange to me, a not-D&D player, is all.
