  1. Just a tad. I didn't feel like it worked in that Cowboy's movie at any rate. But maybe he'll just play the grumpy old retired cop sort of thing. I'd be surprised if there wasn't some other new chr. to go along, as well.
  2. ^^ Sorry for any confusion. It's one of those auto-habits, from my experiences of how often others think "BayArea" = San Francisco. 35 minute drive away but I really know nothing about SF, except that sometimes what's common there isn't common here.
  3. Lack of awesome 'net infrastructure is still one of the problems, imo (in the US). Just like our roads are getting old and our lack of public transport. Demand growing faster than infrastructure is upgraded. Perhaps no throttling allowed etc. but more bandwidth use tiers. People like my mother, super cheap low price. People like me & hubby - yeah, our unlimited would probably triple in cost. Hahaha.
  4. All I know is that before Netflix started paying Comcast more for a "fast lane", I couldn't use Netflix at all during most of the day, because slow loading on their site meant streaming movies was impossible. The only time I could watch Netflix was between 1am-8am. Since Netflix has been paying more, I've been able to watch Netflix whenever, whatever time of day/night I want. If certain places/services = oodles more bandwidth considerations/costs for companies like Comcast, I don't really have a big issue with them wanting to charge more to either Netflix or to the consumer who wishes to use those sites, for all that mega bandwidth use. It doesn't seem unreasonable, at least in theory. Someone has to pay for it eventually. Price of using the 'net for mulitmedia entertainment vs. the past mostly low-bandwidth "information sharing." But of course I don't want Comcast or others to be able to throttle any site they please, whenver, which I'm positive Comcast did/does (purposeful throttling isn't the same as access-demand just causing slowdowns). Nor do I really want to see ISP contracts dividing things up like cableTV - "standard internet, $35! standard internet+YouTube, $50! standard internet+youTube+netflix/amazon movie/hulu $90!" etc. So I can understand the fears. And I have no idea what could alleviate/be a good solution.
  5. I wasn't, but now I am. That's pretty funny. http://www.psu.com/forums/showthread.php/214782-BioWare-RPG-clich%C3%A9-chart You're not understanding the difference I was making between overall plot points vs. details aspect, are you?
  6. P.S. - I should probably clarify that I do tend to recall characters more than plots/story/setting details. So there are probably games where at some point I went "this chr. and their backstory really reminds me of some specific other chr." --but then I can't recall which game/chr. it was and the thought passes. It's what happens to some of us when there's too many years of stories crammed into the brain...
  7. Cleaned out Grim Dawn mules (well, partially...), remembered my best geared/high dmg. chr. is still likely the best chr. and will try Act3 with her. I've been thinking about that myself, recently. I swore I never would again, but it's been several years now and...the problem is, if I think about D2 for more than a few minutes I can still remember everything, so I suspect I'd install, play it for 2 hours, then not touch it again.
  8. For some reason I thought this was about the MMO at first. I still haven't played more than a small bit of Kotor1. Kotor2 is what I played first and like what often happens to me in such cases, I played that one so much I burnout on the whole concept and then can't get into/play the "original" afterwards.
  9. Those are specifics. The saying "only 9 (or 10, or 12) plots" refers to the basic overreaching plot, not the minute details of how they're brought about. It's just one of those sayings, with many grains of truth but not necessarily to be taken super literally... Anyway, games having similar plots is no different than the 1000's of films and TV shows with the same basic plots/premises. I can't remember the last time I saw a movie where the plot itself (not the details or how's, but the plot) wasn't something I've seen before. Video games haven't been around as long...but they are still going to be influenced heavily by whatever the developers of a game have read, watched, or played themselves. I can't really think of a specific game that reminds me another game story wise, because to me they're all largely the same to begin with if that make sense - the details can make them either more or less interesting, but it still all feels familiar.
  10. ^ I assume it's a not-red sauce? Potato on pizza isn't common around here...by "here" I mean far out of San Fran. Might be everywhere in SF for all I know. I think Amici's has a version of it, but that's not where I saw it. Around here chicken+seafood+spinach or other vegies and feta/ricotta seems the main things on the 'artisan" pizzas, really.
  11. Totally forgot about Grim Dawn again ... 2nd part of Act3 out now I guess, enough to make me consider playing it once more. But way too many chrs/items that I should ruthlessly clean out beforehand, that makes me too lazy to dive in. Maybe I should just delete them all and start completely over...but that can take even longer. Hum... *goes back to Caesar3, instead*
  12. I personally wouldn't doubt if it happened at some point, but whether it would actually mean the end of society as we know it, in a total doomsday sort of sense, or just a very extended period of mass starvation/forced restructuring, I wouldn't pretend to know. My plan is still to be dead before anything of that nature happens.
  13. Only 9 plots in the world ... or however that goes. Influence, inspiration, homage does not (always, or even often) = "intentional/knowing rip-off."
  14. I remember when I used to believe that at the least, Gearbox would keep the Borderlands series going pretty well and that a Borderlands 3 would be a must-buy for me. That belief has waned quite a bit now. Currently replaying a favorite Caesar3 campaign map, the one with Hannibal+ war elephants. Rushed pace feeling, all the choke points, walls and towers. And the combat music and all the horns and "Ohhhhhhh!'s" as you command your troops. So....much...fun.
  15. I saw an ad for a potato and bacon pizza. Now, I'm not normally into what I'd call non-(US)traditional pizzas, but for some reason, that sounded good. I may have to try one someday. But today isn't that day, so I had taco-truck tacos instead. Later I may cook up some teriyaki-marinated meat sandwiches.
  16. I bet someone's been waiting a really long time just to be able to say that....
  17. Are there other player-condition screen effects like that? It's pretty mild in the video so not a big deal (to me) in this case, but I still don't tend to like overlay screen effects connected to "you are injured/bleeding" "you are tired" "you've been poisoned" etc. in games these days, and would rather not have it here. A visual cue/symbol on the portrait + occasional repeating text reminder or something of that sort would seem sufficient.

  19. *clean clean, dance with mop, clean clean, dance dance* ...pretending I'm Fred Astaire this afternoon. It's a nice day. Almost March...April is often the best coast time (less average wind than in summer). Think I'll make it a goal to get over there more often this year. Driving the coastal 1 hiway is always a fun time.
  20. I still have this album on vinyl somewhere. Used to love the first song - watching the video tho makes me think of the one bounty hunter from Critters. I wonder what teens in the 2000's will think of their styles 30 years from now.
  21. Tombstone was ages ago...somewhat more recently, I also liked him in Planet Terror. Biehn's mostly been doing dvd type movies for a while now however. He has limited range really, but I still like him in certain roles. Anyway, just saw this IGN bit: Blomkamp's Alien Movie Will Ignore Alien3 and Resurrection ...so if they hold to that, that answers my question. Assuming Biehn even ends up in it. Or Weaver. Dunno if contracts have actually been signed.
  22. That's really nifty, Woldan. ...all I ever did was build marble-mazes and houses with Lego's when I was a kid. Never had any of the special shaped or specific thing sets (like "build a castle" or "police station theme"), just this big flat box of basic rectangle bricks and the flat bases to put them on, when the bases were thick/tall instead of thin. There might have been a few trees and figures with it.
  23. Haha! Absolutely correct, brainfart on my part. Reese is how I saw him first...still what comes to mind when I think of Biehn. Which reminds me, anyone else see him in that movie The Divide? The movie was so so but it's always nice to see him in a role/film that I don't find completely cringeworthy (Yellow Rock and The Victim were...ugh).
