Does continuity in K2 really matter to you?
sickboycp replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
By its very nature, a sequel indicates that some degree of continuity exists. In a game set so close to the time period of the original, it becomes even more important, which is why I would have preferred more distance between the two games. The events in K1 are recent history in K2 and should be acknowledged as such. To my mind, the game loses a lot of credibility if it fails to do so. -
Maybe one of the Lords could be redeemed?
-
No comment on the first two. As for the third, I think I'd be a bit biased. Here's the quote.
-
The official quote was "No comment" LOL That's good enough for me.

Perhaps if you fail in instructing your apprentice, then they could be a Sith Lord...set up an Episode III style Obi-Wan/Anakin duel. B)

Bastila Shan vs Anakin Skywalker
sickboycp replied to KOTORFanactic's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Lucas said though that Vader was relatively weak compared to other Jedi and no match for Anakin Skywalker in his prime. If Vader faced a "real" Jedi, he'd be slaughtered. -
Now this I can answer, Akari said that the number would change as the PC progressed through the game so there is no real set number of lords. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, you can kill some Sith Lords, your party members might become Sith Lords, or you yourself may become a Sith Lord. THere is a set starting number, but it won't last for long.

It had been mentioned in his profile that Darth Sion is the leader of the Sith Assassins of "The Sith Lords" which still leaves the "Sith Marauder" and "Sith Lord" classes to have a Dark Lord. I imagine the Sith Lord will be the main baddie. And as for the start-up screen, it was a dev that confirmed different faces appearing.

Hahahahaha. Did anyone see the picture of his "girlfriend" he has linked on his site. -
Bastila Shan vs Anakin Skywalker

I'll try to find the specific reference in my copy of the novelization of The Phantom Menace, but in it, it is specifically stated that the Jedi Order is much weaker in the "current" era than they were 'back in the day.' That is what makes it so easy for Sidious to mask the presence of the dark side. EDIT: Much weaker in terms of Force sensitivity. I imagine I should make that clear. -

Don't forget also that the Sith disappeared for a long period of time. It's possible, even likely that the Jedi didn't need the Force as much as they did during the Sith heyday. By the time of Ep I, they may be well out of practice, a situation the Sith are able to take advantage of. -
Bastila Shan vs Anakin Skywalker

Now this is EU stuff, but the main theory is that the Jedi by and large lost their way from the original ideas of the Order, and a lot of the abilities and powers that existed in the past ceased to exist. Battle Mediation is one example of such a power. -
Bastila Shan vs Anakin Skywalker

Anakin is supremely powerful....in his era. TheForce.net's timeline mentions that the Jedi lost a lot of their force abilities between The Old Republic era and the end of the Republic era. Anakin would have been about average as a Jedi in the Old Republic days. Still, I think Anakin (pre-Vader) would just shave it. Vader would have bitten the big one, though. -
The ability to name lightsabers
sickboycp replied to OrganisedChaos's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I know this really doesn't address your main request, but there is going to be a "special" lightsaber in the game. It used to belong to your PC before you got exiled from the Jedi Order. Your lightsaber was taken from you and there is an optional sidequest to recover it. There is a quote somewhere by MCA that your lightsaber is very special and doing the sidequest to get the lightsaber is definitely "worth it!" -
Do we want to see Revan killed off in KOTOR2
sickboycp replied to KOTORFanactic's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It does seem like an awful lot of work for Obsidian just to have Revan die or pop up as a Force ghost. But then again, who knows? Maybe the guys at OE are masochists who like doing that sort of thing -
Is suddently the word Sith used too much??
sickboycp replied to DSLuke's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't have my copy on hand right at the moment, but I believe that both Sith and Palpatine are mentioned in Lucas's original novelization of Star Wars. Palpatine is named in the prologue which, very briefly describes the rise of the Empire (AND Palpatine is described as a puppet ruler) and Sith is used when Lucas intoduces Vader, and describes him as a Dark Lord of the Sith. EDIT: Found my copy- From page one. "...the ambitious Senator Palpatine caused himself to be elected president of the Republic..." Page 8- "...a Dark Lord of the Sith was an awesome, threatening shape..." -
Do we want to see Revan killed off in KOTOR2
sickboycp replied to KOTORFanactic's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think whatever Obsidian does regarding Revan, it's going to make someone unhappy. There's so much potential for screw-up here, with a loved (by some) protagonist, who had no set voice, appearance, class or gender appearing in a continuation of his/her story, and not being controlled by the player. I feel confident that MCA & co. can create something that can at least the majority of players. At least....I hope so. -
I think the fact that Lucasarts gave us a character profile on Sion so early on points to him not being the main villain. I would think that they'd try to save any information on the game's overall villain until the last possible moment. Of course, nobody said LA's PR department was brilliant (where's the bloody webmaster's kit for K2?) The concept for Sion is cool, but I don't see him as the number one baddie.
-
What about Peter Kay? I'd die laughing if I heard Kay doing " AVE IT!" in TSL.
-
I think it's quite likely that LA has already consulted with the Old Republic hardcover authors to create some cohesiveness between Karpyshyn and Hand's work and the two games. Indeed, I imagine in KoToR 3 is set in the same time period, we may see some references to their novels in the game.

Do you want Star Wars RPG games to keep on coming?
sickboycp replied to DSLuke's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I agree. The more I think about it, it seems like a great idea.Imagine getting involved in the developing Rebellion movement and you could either choose to help hide Jedi from the Empire on one hand or even betray them to the Empire on the other- perhaps even choose to be one of the Jedi in hiding as well. Maybe throw in Mon Mothma, Bail Organa, and heck, even Morgan Katarn (Kyle's dad) could show up. -
Do you want Star Wars RPG games to keep on coming?
sickboycp replied to DSLuke's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Assuming they continue to produce original ideas and well-written characters, I say keep them coming. Additionally, I think that the KOTNR and KOTOR series can co-exist. I don't think, however that KOTNR should be set too far after ROTJ. A lot of casual fans are unfamiliar with the EU and a lot of harcore fans despise it. Setting one too far into the future (like the NJO era) may turn off both groups of fans. Depending on how Episode III ends, I think a RPG set in the era between EIII and EIV might be neat. And please, as I mentioned before in another thread: please no RPGs weaving through the movie's storyline! -
That might not necessarily be a good thing for those of us who have to wait 4 months

I hesitate to use the word brain candy, but that's exactly what the SW books are. The last SW book I've read was Shatterpoint, and as far as entertainment goes, I enjoyed it more than the other three. Quite frankly, however, it was a throwaway. Some six months later, I don't think I even remember much about Shatterpoint. But from a literary and artistic viewpoint the other books are soooo much better. After I'd finished each of those books I had to sit there and think and absorb what I just read. I wanted to discuss it, and read it again even though so much of it stayed with me. For me, that's a mark of a much better book.

LOL We should start our own book-club :D Porno is Irvine Welsh's sequel to Trainspotting and is in the same vein (no pun intended) It tells what happens when Sick Boy decides to move into the adult film industry. It's just as funny as Trainspotting but not as harrowing. The End of the Affair is a real dark book dealing with issues of faith in God, love, and infidelity. Regeneration explores the damaged psyches of WWI soldiers and the psychologists who treat them. They're all brilliant, and quite frankly, nothing in SW fiction even really compares. After reading books like that, the Star Wars books I read definitely are considered light entertainment. I like them because I can breeze through them, and it doesn't make my brain hurt like some of the books up above do.
