Ummm...because Atris (if she is WHC) looks almost identical to the handmaiden, drawing a parallel to Amidala and her handmaidens in Episode 1. If Atris is the WHC, she almost has to be the Queen of Onderon just to explain the similarity between her and the handmaiden.

Ummm..inaction? I fail to see what that has to do with the point I made. As for me personally, I volunteered for the campaign of Harris Wofford in 1994 when Santorum ran against him. Of course, Wofford lost and Santorum first entered the Senate. I volunteered for Democratic party during the 2000 and this latest elections, and ended up calling folks to remind them to vote. I've already signed on to aid Governor Ed Rendell who is considering to run against Santorum in 2006. Please don't not call me out on things you have no idea of. I respect your opinions and even agree with you on some points, but this sort of attack alienates rather than backs up your points.

But the difference is, Daley never had the opportunity to become president. The high-up Dems in the part knew that Daley was nuttier than a fruitcake. Santorum has that chance. In fact, a lot of the polls I've seen give him and Bill Frist the edge to succeed Bush come 2008.

The problem is I don't think a moderate Republican like McCain, or Arlen Specter (to give another example) would be able to win the Republican nomination anymore. Since Bush got in the first time, the Republican party has swung much more away from the moderate right that men like Specter or McCain belong to. A neocon is going to be the GOP's nominee four years from now, mark my words. I'd like to know where Fardragon discovered that the Handmaiden and Visas Marr come from Onderon, but it seems to add a bit more support to Atris being the Queen of Onderon.

I was just curious as to what everyone thought the Chronicles of the Old Republic thingies that Lucasarts is going to start putting on the main site could be...or should be? There's any number of things it COULD be, from stories detailing the destruction of the Republic in the 5 years since the end of K1, it could be background on the planets or even character histories. I personally would like them to be sort of mixture. Maybe one being background on the civil war on Onderon, the next one being maybe a tale of Kreia's days in the Jedi Order. I think it would add a lot to the game.

Check the topic a page or two back entitled Full Party composition and the topic Who Might Be in Your Party?. In one of themt Akari points out and Visas Marr and Handmaiden can't be in the same party. It is mentioned somewhere in the other there that both are from Onderon. Marr is a member of the secret Sith society The Krath while the Handmaiden serves the Queen of Onderon. EDIT: A little fixing.

I think the main question now is whether the WHC in all the concept art we've seen is Atris or the handmaiden. I rather think it's Atris 'cos as MCA said she plays a very important part in the game, and it's already been established that the handmaiden is not an essential NPC. I'm going with the idea that Atris is the Queen of Onderon and she is the final opponent for a DS PC.

Good for them. It's good to see someone doing something positive about the problems they have with the direction the country is headed rather than simply whining about it. I hope those kids get their answers. Priceless

on the same line though, MP also tends to somewhat dilute the impact of the story in the game. While you may get some replayability beyond all the various permutations of the SP game, the overall story of the game suffers. And I think that most people on this forum would prefer a stronger storyline than MP options. EDIT: And I disagree about the '1 playthrough' concept of K1. LS and DS are two playthroughs right there, as well as the romantic options, slightly different male/female options and more. I've played through K1 at least five times, and I know lots of folks on these forums who have played through it more.

That sounds like a definite possiblity. The thing that really interests me is that the handmaiden and Visas Marr look to be two diametrically opposed characters-Handmaiden for LS, VM for DS. So why did LA release Visas Marr's name and put the relatively generic handmaiden placeholder over the other. Either your explanation is right SilverSun, or there is a reason (importance to the story? link to K1?) that LA can't release her name yet without giving a spoiler.

I imagine LA is saving this information until the last possible moment...perhaps even until after the game's XBOX release... one month from tomorrow (w00t)

I for one would like to see that a lot. Despite my utter hatred and contempt for both Aerie and Haer'Dalis in BG II, I really enjoyed the romance the two of them struck up through the course of the game. Plus, MCA did kind of hint that relationships (in its broadest sense) would combine a lot of the characters in different and unexpected ways throughout the game. Barzarel: They also said the NPCs you get are dependent on your alignment and Visas Marr and Handmaiden can't be in the party at the same time. Which leads me to think they are the preeminent romance options for DS and LS respectively EDIT: Replying to Above post

I'm thinking something similar. Probably along these lines. MALE DS: Visas Marr LS: Handmaiden Middle: Mira FEMALE: DS/LS?: Disciple Middle: Atton Haven't met too many male NPCs yet? Would a female be able to romance Mandalore? It's a thought.

Well, I think it was sorta of hinted at at the end of K1, especially in the icky quasi-sexual nature of the torture scenes between Malak and Bastila and later the confrontation between a male Revan and Bastila where she offers to be "standing at your side, both as lover and apprentice." Anyways, I think the idea of love in the Dark Side is more about lust, a violent temporary passion that doesn't necessarily mean you have to like the person. On the temple Bastila is trying to use Revan's feelings to turn him, she's not actually saying "I love you, join with me." I predict that Revan would have a very rocky road if he tried to continue to romance a DS Bastila post K1. Come to think of it, DS romance almost resembles the vampiric seduction scenes that always pop up in gothic literature. Fall under the spell of the Sith/vampire and be turned away from the light forever. The light side romance is more traditional. There may be a few naughty innuendos, and maybe a faded to black kiss, but it follows a traditional pattern that was established as far back as literature began. I'm curious to see how Obsidian would deal with a DS romance under the auspices of LA's rather strict SW morality and the ESRB's Teen Rating of the game. BTW, someone should probably combine the two topics the topic originator made. EDIT: Spelling, grammar and a clarification on which scenes.

I don't think it necessarily rules her out as a romantic interest. Look at Aribeth in NWN OC It certainly seems that Atris now appears to be more of an Aribeth-style character than a Bastila-style. I'm not sure I like that. (Of course, that could just be my prejudice against NWN showing through )

IIRC, someone...was it kumquat? in the original Ask the Devs thread asked what the name of the WHC was. Some dev posted it and five minutes later, the post disappeared. Draw your own conclusions
