  1. Putting some time into Red Dead Redemption inbetween small bits of tedious Fallout 1. Rockstar really knows how to kill anything with potential that they make. Their style of run from point A to point B to point A, back to B, C, B, A, B, A, B, B kills any sort of exploration along with the fact that there's nothing to explore, barely any secrets stashed in secluded pointless areas. It's the same crap design as in LA Noire, and GTA IV. IGN gave this thing a 9.7. It's around an 8 at best. Slightly above average with zero replayability.
  2. Oh it destroys something like Just Cause 2 - what a piece of crap that game is, but I guess the main part of it, the humor, doesn't do much of anything for me. My favorite part was looking at my latina created character, with her oily skin and thong tanline.
  3. It was the same with Hussein, Milosevic, and a host of other, previously western supported leaders. For as long as they did what they were told everything was fine and they could do what they wanted unchecked, when they eventually held enough power to lead their own politics they became a barrier to US political and business interests. The US found out that its much easier to have all or most sides in a quasi democracy on your payroll while playing them against each other than it is to control one man who is not entirely spineless. With his back against the wall he will fight (like Assad is doing) - with a pretend democracy you can always blackmail or pay off someone, somewhere to get the government to collapse. So yeah. This was is about Assad being an independent leader in an area where everyone else is a US puppet or vassal. Neighboring countries: Turkey - NATO vassal Iraq - occupied territory Israel - US policy maker/ally Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia etc. - all US puppets Syria and Iran are the only strictly independent and sovereign countries left in the region. If I was in Iran I'd be pretty worried now. Specifically about 6 years from now. Unless the whole Syria thing escalates into something more. Yeah, it's all too transparent at this point. I just don't understand how some people are so willing to be told the same story over and over and simply go along with it. It's just mind boggling. If anyone listens to congress, they're all spouting the same crap as usual. They're actually calling Assad the jihadi terrorist now. Hahahahahahaha.
  4. I consider Fallout:Tactics combat to be good, but no, not Fallout 1 combat. In my dream world Fallout 3 and New Vegas would have used improved Fallout:Tactics engine. Sounds good yet many people don't like Tactics. I'll just take it that the people who think Fallout 1 & 2 are the end-all, be-all are extremely picky.
  5. Better to compare with best RPG out that year. This actually looks like more fun, combat-wise atleast.
  6. Um no - that's just gambling. Combat has much more dimensions with positioning/aimed attacks/inventory use etc. Apparently my positioning still wasn't good enough to stab a rat in the back. That's just a broken system.
  7. Was/is the combat in Fallout 1 considered to be "good"? I mean the game came out roughly the same time as Ocarina of Time, yet it plays absolutely ancient by comparison. I really can't even understand how someone would begin to like this combat. People like to say it's more strategic, but that's not it - just put points in whatever skill and wait for the dice roll. Lol @ missing a rat 3 times in a row from behind with a damn knife. This stuff is laughably bad. People actually prefering the combat of Fallout 1 over Fallout 3 are forever lost to nostalgia. I really hope this game isn't filled with combat through most of it - if so, this is going to be a straight chore to play.
  8. There is a problem because we have no business interfering, picking and choosing the good guys from the bad. They just want Assad out because he doesn't bend over and kiss their collective asses.
  9. Finally finished SR3 not too long ago. I don't get the hype. Felt like an average game with big production. Story was incredibly weak, but in a way, it was still better than Rockstar's way of trying so hard to be something real and "mature". I don't know, most sandbox, open world type games just aren't that good to me these days. Much prefer something with more specialized tighter game mechanics instead of these jack-of-all-trades type games.
  10. Much easier to get lost in the Obsidian cookie cutter interiors than in the desert, atleast for me. They need better world builders, badly.
  11. Sarcasm? The Obama admin hasn't stopped bombing. There's been more drones strikes under Obama than Bush. That's going to continue no matter who wins the next election, unless the country actually wakes up and votes in a 3rd party candidate, but that's not happening anytime soon. Drone strikes are basically assassinations. Air campagins to achieve a political goal are something else and have been a favorite tool for the US over the years. Assassinations that kill innocent people and rightfully stirs up turmoil locally amongst other things. Seems people on the outside only care about conflict when it gives them something to talk about for the day.

  13. That's the Obama admin in a nutshell. The only difference between a Democrat and Republican is that the Democrat says please and thank you after dropping bombs. And oddly enough, that is all it takes for some people to feel warm and fuzzy inside.
  14. Lolol at anyone buying the western narrative. We are just as crooked and responsible as the people in the thick of it, probably even more so since all we do is tear down the zones when there's any progress.
  15. Yeah, I'm done wasting even $2 on games like Wake. Never going to get that game, it's not worth the time wasted playing these crap games. I would blame Steam but I moved the game into a folder outside of Steam, and I get the same problems. Solve one problem, new one arises, then it circles back to the original general error message. I tried the "true patch" because the wesp one changes audio in a spot that I didn't like when I played it before. I don't know why those guys have to make little changes - I just want bug fixes, not some pseudo restored content, even though the changes are minimal. I doubt the wesp patch will make a difference now anyway. Seems I've got some other issue that I can't get around that the patches wont fix.
  16. Lol... I've tried all options now and every time a new problem occurs. This is pretty nuts. Never had this much trouble running a game before. Seems like my only option to run it for sure is to reinstall XP.
  17. Yeah, mostly. I mean, to find the people you need to talk to, you do have to do some "exploring" to get to them. I just don't find point n clicking in this engine to be fun. It's more of a chore. I'm just playing the game for the story/novelty. The actual mechanics just aren't my thing.
  18. Yeah, going to try installing outside of program files too. Hopefully that works. I could never get the compatibility mode/running as admin to work. [insert disdainful reaction image here] Lol.. I wish I grew up playing those games so I could appreciate them more but unfortunately, the isometric view feels like I'm looking down at my feet as I play. Maybe I'll get around to enjoying it more once I get further along.
  19. I'm just using 32bit Win7. Before I reformatted, the game wouldn't launch in steam but it worked with a no cd crack on the same OS. Now the no cd crack wont even work. Was thinking of putting XP on a drive solely for the game but I'll try the patch first. Wouldn't surprise me if it's all that stupid protection in Win7 that keeps it from running, despite running it as admin and all of that.
  20. Finally tore into the Steam backlog to clear some worthless games - Just Cause 2(horrible crap), nearly finished with LA Noire(repetitive, most fun is collecting cars). Started Fallout 1, Broken Sword and a repeat of KOTOR 1 to play something familiar. Still can't get Bloodlines to work, even with a crack Exe now. Maybe the vanilla patch will run it... Fallout 1, using a walkthough for the most part as I can't stand "exploring" in isometric view. Broken Sword, eh, it's ok but as usual with this point n click adventure games, the solutions are a simple matter of stupid point and clicking.
  21. Ridiculously patient response to an inflammatory post. Well done.
  22. I wonder if the same care of explanation would be taken if the suspects were right wing extremists, like many jumped to the conclusion that they were.
  23. That quote, "I don't have single American friend" - came from this site http://johanneshirn.photoshelter.com/gallery/Will-Box-For-Passport/G0000VQW7v6xWA7o/ which seems to be him. Weird thing is, I saw those pictures and his story months ago..
  24. Eat baby food.
