  1. In Pokémon, to light an area, you have to take one of your pokes and teach it a useless move that can't easily be forgotten, forever crippling it. PoE has no such restriction. I'm not the developer, though. So maybe you see things others can't. I meant more along the lines of areas being blocked by rocks, trees, blackouts, etc.. until you find a certain move/item to progress. To your other point of crippling a Pokemon with the Light move. Most games with light mechanics require a torch/flashlight which can also cripple a character. But like I said, I love those games so maybe there is something cool about the 'pitch black dungeon' aspect of games.
  2. Haha, thanks Brandon. Yeah should be done within a few days. I got your backs -Sking
  3. I've always felt this kind of mechanic in games to be more of a gate limiting 'open world exploration' rather than something fun. That being said I'm a huge Pokemon fan, so maybe there is something to it.
  4. Hey Suen, Monks have an ability called Soul Mirror. This gives the Monk a 50% Chance to reflect back missed ranged attacks to the attacker. It seems if one of the Blunderbuss hits misses, there is a 50% chance all 6 hits will be returned to the sender. I'll get a bug in, in the mean time I'd re frame from shotgunning monks. 5. Hey OvErMiNd13, The three new achievements will only unlock if you are in the Beta version of the game. As of right now, the Ultimate and Frozen Crown achievements will (should) unlock correctly. the Frozen Crown Solo achievement is not currently unlocking. This will be fixed in the next Beta update. I got your back -Sking
  6. Hey Maydawn, Monks have an ability that gives them DR per Wound called 'Iron Wheel'. It will give the Monk +1 DR per Wound. Also try either the Moon/Fire Godlike races or the Shod-N-Faith boots. These will help keep your Monk in the fight longer. I got your back -Sking
  7. I never bother, their damage/CC is pathetic compared to priest traps which share the same limit. Also you only get a visual indicator of their trigger radius, not the effect radius so you might end up hitting yourself. Traps are very 'worth it'. Not mentioning that not every party has a Priest, traps give very different bonuses. Traps can very easily turn a 'hard' encounter into an 'easy' one. A well placed Tanglefoot trap gives a ranged party (that is minus CC) enough time to get 2 or 3 more shots off before engagement. Gaze of the Adragon Trap is simple incredible. A long story short is traps serve a similar purpose as scrolls/potions/spellbind weapons do. They give characters that normally don't have access to certain things that others do. Jack your Tank Fighters Mechanics and fill him up with Fireball traps. Now you have a Tank Fighter that starts the combat with a +30 accuracy Fireball every fight.
  8. Hey (you bunch of fanciful gamers) QA Tips; - Hotkeys! 1 - 6 selects each party member, memorize which character is which. - Hotkey your most used spells/abilities with each character. - Also formation is key. I rock a straight line formation, tanks/animal companions upfront, ranged in back. Helps with the 1 - 6 selecting of companions when they are lined up. - Auto-pause on combat start (you are crazy if this is not on) - Sneak and alpha strike. Rarely should combats start without Rolling Flames, Crackling Bolt, Crushing Wave, etc... - Queue up spells/abilities. This is especially important with party buffing. Set your Priest to chain cast like 3 buff spells as soon as the combat starts. How to queue below. (Press pause, select which spell to cast, cast the spell, select the next spell to cast, hold shift and cast the spell, unpause) - I party AI my front line to minimize micromanaging and just control the actions of my damage/CC dealers - If you are careful with your level up; Barbarians, Fighters, Paladins, Chanters, and Monks can almost be completely controlled by AI. Of course this is not optimal, but will lighten your micromanaging load and be acceptable for 95% of combats. I got your backs -Sking
  9. Hey poeteskimo, We have definitely made a few strides to drop our load times since release. As long as you keep your save folder to a reasonable size (not 1 million saves) you should be fine. I got your back -Sking
  10. Hey nem0, Player traps are set to do a significant amount less than traps placed in the world. The logic behind this is that traps only (mostly) hit you outside of combat. With our Endurance/Health system a trap hitting a player for 50 damage is nothing outside of combat. So to make traps a threat they have to do seemingly massive amounts of damage to chunk at characters Health values or apply knock out injuries. Also, the mechanics skill contributes to trap accuracy which may be the cause of your low damage traps. I got your back -Sking
  11. Hey RequiemArc, I struggled to figure out Barbarians as well. Then this guy (YouTube Link) came from internet heaven and laid it down. Dude is a scientist. I got your back -Sking
  12. I forgot about the journals. Those were pretty awesome. Fulvano's story throughout Gilded Vale was pretty rad as well.
  13. Hey Baron Pampa, I spoke with our narrative team about this. This was their response, "I think Ondra's implication isn't that they're completely mindless, it's that they are single-minded about their purpose. So while they may remember things, the things they remember may not be a concern to her because they're not going to spill the beans. Two reasons for that. One is that their silence may be part of the directive she gave them. But on top of that, Ondra probably does not expect anyone to ever have a conversation with them - other than when the Watcher interacts directly with their souls, we see no evidence in the game that they have the ability to talk or communicate. The other thing is that as individual entities, their souls are tiny fragments, but when the player has the opportunity to "converse" with them as a Watcher, the souls have been released and have begun to coalesce, so it's possible that state elevates their self-awareness, enabling them access to greater perspective, knowledge, and memory than they would have as individuals. That's not specifically mentioned in the text, but it's left open as a possibility." I got your back -Sking
  14. Hey (you bunch of delightful gamers), Had to throw my top moments into this pile of joy.
  15. Osric will only give it to the player out of disgust for their actions.
  16. Hey Caribou, There is a red arrow showing enemy engagement and a green arrow showing friendly engagement. There is an option in the menu called 'Occlusion Slider', this controls how brightly your characters will light up behind the environment. I think if you maxed this out it would help a lot in your case. I got your back -Sking
  17. Hey Aron Times, Can you report this in our Tech Support Forum. It would really help us out to get a fix in. Thanks -Sking
  18. Hey Kriber22, Every quest from White March pt. 1 will still be available if you transition into White March pt. 2. The only exception is 'Regrets Worth Trading'. This quest will chance depending on which part of it you are currently on during the transition. I got your back -Sking
  19. Hey brindle88, I'd give Stormcaller on a Ranger another go. It shreds anyone wearing plate and that 'Returning Storm' Spellchance pretty much procs every fight. Utile Dulci already made good arguments for the others, except the staff. I myself am still looking for a reason to use the staff. I do love the Bettleshell Spellbind it gives. But just can't figure out a build to make the staff worth it. Anyone have some super secret Greenstone staff build they'd like to share? I got your backs -Sking
  20. Bash 1: 6-9 (ex: Badgradr's Barricade)Bash 2: 8-12 (ex: Larder Door) Bash 3: 10-15 (ex: Dragon's Maw Shield) P.S. Have tested a few more things in regards to shields with bash property: (tested with Badgradr's Barricade shield which has bashing 1 and grants Thrust of Tattered Veils on critical hit) - damage from bash does not generate focus, nor procs carnage hits. - enchants on these shields that "grant a <spell> on hit/critical hits", trigger only when bash hits/crits. Weapon hits/crits do not proc them. - spells triggered this way, do not generate focus, nor proc carnage hits. This is not intended. I've added a bug about the carnage and focus procs with Bashing. We will try and get a fix in for the next patch.
  21. Hey Skrige01, Unfortunately we are finding this 'white boxes' in different places with different causes. We are trying to fix all of them, but the little buggers are not making it easy on us. If this happens again can you post in our Tech forum with your save file. Would really help us out. Thanks in advance -Sking
  22. Hey Abc123rage, Thanks dude. I linked this thread to the whole team and they all loved it. I'm sure I speak for everyone in saying, we love making games and it's amazing to get such great responses from all you guys/gals. -Sking P.S. ManifestedISO I've been fighting for Obsidian Flip-flops for awhile and I will continue to fight
  23. Going to age myself with this one. Spiders and Beetles in Dyrford Crossing during the Open Beta. 30 DR Beetles and 10 DR bypass Spiders that petrify on hit. To the dark times -Sking
  24. Hey (you bunch of ravishing gamers) Base game prisoners would escape far too easily. One of the events you could roll while time passes is 'Prisoner Escape'. If you rolled this, they would escape. It was bugged as 'not fun' and shouldn't happen so frequently. Now If that event is rolled, a second roll is rolled against the players Security to determine if the prisoner successfully escapes. I got your backs -Sking Super Secret Spoiler Tip:
  25. Hey Armegar, Each difficulty has a different allotted amount of camping supplies to it. Also there is a fair amount of camping supplies scattered throughout the world. If you know of any specific areas that are lacking in camping supplies we'd want to correct that. Some of your suggestions are interesting and we are always looking for 'better' ways of implementing any features in our games. Story Time - ∞ Easy - 6 Normal - 4 Hard - 2 Path of the Damned - 2 I got your back -Sking
