It's a romanticized old idea born out of an age where this might actually be plausible, but it would never work in this day and age. What if this elected government was to gain too much power (which they would in a democratic way, most likely), should people rush to the streets packing their shotguns and pistols, making their way towards the capital? If this government was indeed interested in total power, wouldn't they just obliterate your mob with an airstrike, or roll you over with an armoured tank, which you by the way, have no chance of destroying by any means? You're not there, to threaten the elected government with violence, but you can challenge it, with your vote.

I'm not talking about those who blow themselves up, obviously, as this debate is about firearms.

Do you really think that small caliber guns are a threat to a well equipped military force? And why the hell should you need to be ready to overthrow the very government you have supported in the first place? Civilians shouldn't be allowed to have functional guns. For once in your life try to make a little sense? Are we doomed in most of Europe because only the police and military have firearms? I agree 100%, guns should only be in the hands of the police and the military, they serve no good purpose among civilians, which is why they're illegal here, for which I'm thankful. Oh and Hooah it's actually an upgraded M16, Canadian manufactured rifle called C7.

Well he is spanish after all. But I don't know, I had spanish for two years in high school and I can't speak a word of it. Why is it always when it's too late that you realize you should have paid more attention in class? :D Edit: Good point Aponez, Danish Freedom Fighters in WW2 were probably considered terrorists by Nazi Germany as well. Although I will say this, some foreign groups of islamic extremists are very much 'terrorists' (and probably some Iraqi groups as well), I'm talking about those who behead civilians on TV and blow up markedplaces filled with innocents, those who would execute unarmed people who are injured or have already surrendered... This one goes for US troops as well.

I saw it in the biggest cinema in Scandinavia (digital ), and it was dead silent, no crybabies, no lame moaning or clapping. Just plain silence. I have more noise in my living room ffs! :D
