  1. Probably talking about the internal beta.
  2. They've promised to put out the beta in May. You can assume they're still on track for that until a) they say otherwise or b) it's the first of June.
  3. Rogues also have one check each with Durance and Grieving Mother.
  4. Here are all the Rauatai checks during dialogue. I only listed 6, because the other 3 are actually just slightly different versions of Kana's dialogue depending on whether he's been recruited yet - that sort of minor variation is not normally the case with NPCs, but I did notice it with companions (the other noteworthy example is Aloth and Aedyrs). That's still 6 distinct checks, though, and if you missed half of them, it might be time for a replay or a bug report. I'm only quoting the first line that changes in a convo string: In general, when one conversation features a lot of checks they tend to blend together and no longer feel quite so "special". But that's only the case very rarely - for Rauatai with Kana, Aedyr with Aloth, "Snow Elves" (code equivalent of Pale Elves) with Glaswal, and Orlans with Captain Aldmar. Usually race and background are only checked once in a given convo. You can also argue that passively unlocking flavour text is not a meaningful "check" for gameplay purposes, but the OP wasn't asking for in-game rewards, so I didn't bother to make a distinction. A power gamer would usually care more about Skill and Attribute checks than race or background checks anyway.
  5. The character creation screen also says "Rauatai", so I'm guessing the scripter made a typo. I'll try to figure out if the character creation actually sets the typo-d condition before I edit my post. by the way, "Rautai" unlocks 9 dialogue lines, 8 of which are by Kana.
  6. The number also includes hard to notice stuff like a Black Hound Inn background convo telling you filthy Orlan to go back to Defiance Bay and a line from the server that you shouldn't think about stealing their job. Race also locks you out of certain lines, like the Smithy guard not telling an Orlan that he thinks all Orlans are thieves; but I didn't count the lock-outs.
  7. I decided to do it properly, checking for everything I could think of. I crawled the "*.conversation" files with grep and removed redundant checks (like the 12 Fire Godlike checks for the braziers in the starter dungeon):
  8. These forums do not offer tech support for mod users. PM'd a moderator to close and delete thread.
  9. I also agree with most points, but rating down Armour of Faith to 2/10 because it "becomes negligible later" is nuts. +4 DR is absolutely huge for the first few levels of the game.
  10. It says "targets with low Endurance explode" in the description, which is your tip-off that it's an insta-kill spell for them.
  11. ^^^Thanks, but it didn't work for me. I'm noticing multiple bugs now - if I order all the modals to be activated while paused, it's a total crapshoot whether I'll end up with +8, +10, or +18 def after a few seconds, even though both modals glow and are listed as active on the char sheet. This is from a brand new character made in 1.03 hotfix by the way. edit: actually, enabling CA and then DoMP while unpaused gave me the correct +10 the first time after a reload. If I disable DoMP and enable it again, I gain 8 def.
  12. Duality of Mortal Presence (Deflection) and possibly other modals can incorrectly apply their bonus when flagged as "Suppressed". Steps to Reproduce: 1) Activate Cautious Attack (+10 Def) 2) Activate Duality of Mortal Presence (Deflection) (+8 Def) 3) open your character sheet 4) See that Duality of Mortal Presence (Deflection) is flagged as "Suppressed", but your Deflection score has gone up by 18 points alternative steps to see proper functionality: 1) Activate Duality of Mortal Presence (Deflection) 2) Activate Cautious Attack 3) open your character sheet 4) See that Duality of Mortal Presence (Deflection) is flagged as "Suppressed", and your Deflection score has correctly gone up by only 10 points
  13. Relentless Storm, sure. But Returning Storm is definitely damage based. With each bolt doing at around 30 base shock damage. Each separate bolt fired gets the +20% as well, so it gets benefits from the talent much more than most spells do. As for Fire vs. Ice, well eh, I suppose its a matter of taste. Pretty sure Hail Storm does both Crush and Freeze though, the description says that much anyway. Firebug though, is a damn fine spell, so I'll give you that. If you don't grab Marksman or any Weapon Focus talents, you probably can grab all three. You can build a good Druid with nothing but +elemental damage and extra spell slot talents. Weapon damage barely matters once you hit level 9 and can spam per-encounters. The only problem is the heavy need for micromanaging, so you're always casting a spell.
  14. It claims that the original text was "misread", when most of us understood its hateful message just fine. The author is just trying to cover up his transgressions, and Obsidian is giving him a platform to do so. The right thing to do would be to pull the text, pay the backer his money back, and make a very clear statement: "we do not want and we do not need customers like you".
  15. The sentiment to #killallmen is borne out of the realization that almost all men are actively oppressing women and transpeople for their own personal gain. Telling women and transpeople that they are crazy to use that tag is like telling rape victims that they are crazy to try and fight back against their rapists.
  16. You don't need to "misunderstand" Bambi to get offended by it. It's an extremely heteronormative movie: A lot of mainstream cartoons serve primarily as a means of indoctrinating children.
  17. She was born when she took her proper name. The deadname belongs to a different existence entirely.
