  1. Because it isn't really. From what they've said they redesigned it from scratch it's just they've got "company conventions" for how they handle certain things so some of it comes out the same.
  2. The xbox is evil... it should just die already. <_< It's not totally evil. There is DOA3 and DOA Beach Volley Ball. I do wish Bioware was doing Jade Empire for the PC as well as X-Box.
  3. It really serves no purpose other than being annoying. Why bother having me walk back to my ship every time I want to offload loot? the same reason they added the instant transport to the Ebon Hawk most of the time. If you had to walk back and forth all the time it gets dull and serves no point.
  4. I think Lucas didn't want KoToR modable as it is a RPG where JK 2 and Academy are not. Same reasons for no multiplayer they don't want anything that might hurt Galaxies. A game as great as KoToR made like NWN? I have no doubt those sales would fall. The JK mod was illegal when they first designed it, but when it became a potential money maker and they showed they could take care when using Star Wars intellectual properties it ended up becoming it's own franchise. KoToR will never be given the same chance.
  5. Hate to take my own thread off track, but we may find out in the next movie.
  6. I might misspell it, but metaclorians. And everyone has them just Jedi have a lot more. Bastilla's Mother and Father are perfectly non-Jedi.
  7. Actually it still likely is. The NWN tools they use are the same ones that you get when you buy Never Winter. I'm sure there are some big improvements that were made for the tool set for KoToR, but the basic principals for their file structure hasn't changed. It make perfect sense that there are similar tools, infact that is part of what Obsidian licenced. I'm sure Obsidian has the same ban on speaking about modding that Bioware has. Do a google search and you will see what I mean. Go to Never Winter Vault and you'll find some info on some things that were removed by request. Excuse me if I've said more than I should.
  8. Your right about no father, but I don't remember anything about no Jedi ancestry. Could have had someone in the distant past. We will never know until some one says yea or nay.
  9. It all started with KoToR. At least as far as I'm concerned. I gave my character the last name of Skywalker for laugh value.
  10. They said your character didn't have amnesia, but it Alzheimer's. (Sorry to anyone who knows someone with it.)
  11. Well if we want to get technical I only want them to put my favorite in not all 7, but I didn't think a thread saying only want I wanted would be received well.
  12. Ah X-Box only cheat.
  13. Or a cheesey way to get DS points. Maybe the first random killing gets you a DS points and the others don't or something.
  14. The final d20 is different. It isn't in tiers. More like they just couldn't come up with a better name or someone had a martial arts class where their forms didn't have names. So it became Froms I - VI or something. Any ways they do have pre-reqs. I believe the one I like is a dex over a certain number, weapon focus, and combat reflexes. I would post a bit more, but I don't own the book to look at it a friend does.
  15. One thing you have to keep in mind they had to keep it easy as some people where using the X-Box controller and not a mouse. I think they did very well for the first attempt.
  16. Seeing as this is E3 and they will have it out before then next E3, if all goes well, I would assume they will have something to show. You can't let the biggest Gaming convention go by with out something. Just because they just announced it doesn't mean they don't have anything to show already.
  17. That's cool. I'll need to look for that as checking out some of Talis. I agree on the moveable camera if it is possible. I prefer pointing my camera more up and behind so I can see what is in front of him better.
  18. I agree that you should be able to kill random passersby. In KoToR I should have been able to kill that sith guard rather than give him papers. There were several other instances where it was instant death if you didn't follow the story. We are not talking about major events for most. Little changes like that would be nice. I didn't mind not being able to kill Malak the first time as there was a major story reason for it. Killing everyone(or most everyone) should be fairly simple. For all of Bioware saying this has nothing to do with the NW engine it seems to be structured much the same. In the place able toolset the devs are using I'm willing to bet it has the same off/on check that NW did.
  19. Star Wars has always assumed they live happily ever after like a fairytale. Until then next Episode comes out.
  20. If you want to separate them the story is the some of all it parts writing, theme, etc. In the instance of a game that includes the actions of the PC(you help create the story), the actions of the NPC, etc. The theme for Planescape wasn't bad this is where they showed potential. The writing read flat as if someone was writing their thesis on existence. It had no life. It seemed to drone on and on about every little thing and repeated itself constantly. It would have been better as a novel, but even then I would have put me to sleep. Like I said before the story is the some of all its parts. When dealing with a game or movie the pacing of it and the actions(not action as explosions or something) become very important. I wouldn't call what I'm talking about game play. I'm talking about how the story tries to link each event from one to the other. All games use it to a degree, but PST was filled with nothing but go to the next person and read their life story and a small clue about yours. The game would have played the same if I stood in one room at the beginning and just read one dialog after another. I'm fairly sure I did something between the dialog other than walking across the screen once at least. I did, didn't I? The writing was important in PST not the story. The seemed to thrown out after the intro. KoToR not only tried to tell you a story, but made you part of the story. It kept the pacing(I'll admit it got slow in a few areas), it didn't drone on endlessly to no point(or very little point). I did feel excitement from the story. Chills, trills, etc. It did remember it was a game and not a novel. The NPCs in your party had more of life. Unlike you I don't feel the characters where incomplete. I might not have their story from childhood, but I had a good back story of why they were doing what they did and an idea of why they were making the choices they made. The biggest difference to me was it wasn't all laid out for you. They made it fairly obvious in their continuing dialog, but I had to experience the story rather than just sit there and read it. Yes, I'm judging their work and giving a personal response. All of the posts here are peoples personal response. Your like of Planescape. Writing isn't about x + y always equals z unless your reading directions. If you want an impersonal judge of their work then how about looking at KoToR sales compared to Planescape. I'm not basing it solely on my opinion, but also of that of my friends as well. They had a good concept in Planescape(as well as their other games), good structure for the game play, well put together graphics(for the time), and obviously they know(programming) how to put it together. They didn't fail in the planning, but in the execution.
  21. I used Plancescape when milk will not help me go to sleep.
  22. It didn't say it was timeline specific. Like only Republic or something. It is the style that Duku was said to use. Funky lightsaber not included.
