i think that you are quite wrong. there's a matter of choice? why should i disarm something if i can run right through it? why should i pick locks if i can bash all the doors in? why should i use my skills if blunt, stupid plain action will do the trick faster and with the same result? the skills were pretty much useless. that's what we've been arguing here all along. i want to have skills that actually influence gameplay. you can't disarm the trap because your skill isn't high enough? fine- search a different way to get in... or pick a party member who can disarm the trap. i didn't even bother using mission because i could run around in my little jedi team and just run through traps- what's the point of that? Didn't you hear that someone else didn't do that? I always used security when I could and bashed when I couldn't. It was my choice. Forcing me to play like you want to play wouldn't be a choice. It was your decision to bash through something rather than use your skills. That doesn't mean they were broke. Just like it was your decision to play LS or DS. Your choice to play skillful or bash. Like I said the skills in the game were not broken.

What Planets You Want To See?
Sorwen replied to Vanidar Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It's totally stupid and pointless, but I would love to see a well done Hoth area. That and I want to go to Yavin rather than a space station in orbit. I don't know about the book, but the Night sisters are on Dathomir. I don't know of any "Witches" on Dantooine. -
They wanted to give you the choice is the big thing people seem to keep forgetting when it comes to skills. They wanted you to have the option to hak or you could hack with your lightsaber. There were no broken skills. I want more skills and more chances to use them, but I don't want there to be a situation where the only way I can proceed is with a skill. That wasn't the point of KoToR and I don't want it to be the point of KoToR2. It's all about choice. If you want to hak something or use security and instead you bash it that is your problem not mine.

I missed the last post then. That third pick shows him with a hood. That will be sweet. And the clothes look good in pic 5. -
Kind of. There are many different tactics he could still take. (d20) I used move object to snatch the blaster away from a Stormtrooper and then promptly one shot/one killed him with his own blaster. A Jedi relies on the force not on any particular weapons. I agree and this doesn't break my argument but reinforces it instead. What if there's a squad of them? And besides, in KotOR, you wouldn't have one shot killed a Sith trooper anyway... Blasters are a real threat for anyone in SW d6 or d20. It's just that a lightsaber in Jedi's hands can deflect blaster shots, rendering them (blasters) ineffective/counter-effective. From the point Blasters are nerfed in KoToR I agree. Only swords were not. Depending on the level of the Jedi depends on whether he could take a squad with or with out a lightsaber. My Jedi is only level 4 so I wouldn't want to take on a squad alone. I would say 3 would be near my limit(with average rolling). Though there are lots of tactics. If you have to directly attack them. Snatching weapons, Bastilla Tripping, moving objects in the way. Unfortunately, these are not things you could do in game usually. You could, but that would take more time and redoing most if not all of the engine for this game. Anyway higher levels you could just block with your hand(like Vader did). Like I said in a game setting you have to be creative within the limits of the game, but from a just Jedi standpoint(Movies, Books, d20, etc) there are ways and powers to get creative. The game could add the Block and Move Objects our of opponents hands(disarm).

I think he meant replay.

Same faces to chose from as KOTOR 1!?!?!
Sorwen replied to Tyrell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Found this in another thread. From a DEV. There'll be more faces, though I don't know the number. -Akari -
Ok, let's settle it once and for all: ROMANCES.
Sorwen replied to Ivan the Terrible's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I thought the Bastilla Romance was fun and well done. If KoToR2 can keep up with that more the better. -
Nope, all the rumors point to Anakin. Sorry! That's kind of fitting too, but since he should have a fight with Obiwan in this one I would rather Mace. I was hoping for a good fight for Mace. The preemptive Jedi Weapon Master better not go out like a punk.

Naming Your Character!!
Sorwen replied to Vanidar Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It was a nice feature, but I never used it. -
That's the one change that I really liked about KoToR vs. d20. I think the should have been separate pools and force a lot smaller than Vit.
-
Duku was a punk. Just didn't want to admit that if he kept up hi pretty force lighting Yoda would have kicked his butt. So Yoda showed him what a real lightsaber fight was. Side note I hope Mace Kills Duku in the next movie.

"In d20" has been my starting comment a lot. In d20 you can pick up feats that help with your skills. This would sort of be like being a natural in something as you can be better than a person of the same level that doesn't have it.
-
Powerful is all a matter of perspective. Where were you reading about the Jedi Master? Lightsaber wise there is no real difference. If you are talking the bonus KoToR gave for full light vs. full dark then for me they really didn't make that much difference they were just a nice bonus.

will i be able to kill indiscriminately?
Sorwen replied to poolofpoo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'm sorry I admit I misunderstood what you were saying. Still KoToR already has it's version of the radial menu. Don't make the default attackable but leave the option to attack on the radial menu. There's no reason why would have to add "I want to kill you" dialog. -
I hate to keep bring up PnP d20, but I hope KoToR2 is more like it. In d20 you don't get armor bonus from robes(or armor). The defense bonus per level is just higher. I think it is about double. I know it is double at higher levels. Jedi Guardian at level 20 is +12 rather than +6, but you don't wear armor. And this whole no force powers with armor is something that Bioware added. Since armor isn't used much in start wars(barring a few key individuals and types) the wanted to have a reason why you wouldn't need to. Oh and you do know the whole concept of Jedi came from the Samurai. You should look on starwars.com. I think they have the concept art for Darth Vader there. Started out looking just like a Samurai in full armor.

They need a better balancing. d20 does this by feats. Solider still get more choice feats than anyone else. If you choose the correct feats you can keep up with Jedi in total damage. The point is they were under keying what a lightsabers damage was and making normal sword just as powerful. Not to mention two weapon a sword was easier if I remember you could get a balanced weapon that helped off set -2 of the to hit. I still used a lightsaber for the "cool factor", but it didn't do the damage it should have.
-
First I agree lightsabers were under powered. The special crystals you got at the end of the game helped, but not really. Yes there is some balancing issue, but I think if the went a little closer to d20 it would be better. Lightsabers should be the most powerful HAND held weapon in the game barring only a thermal detonator. The swords in the game were more powerful for several reasons and the Budwin(or whatever) for the PC were the most powerful weapons in the game period. d20 adds the damage by class. Basically depending what Jedi call you have at say level 5 you would get to add 1d8 do the light sabers damage. The best combo of classes with add +4d8 so max damage would be 6d8 (2d8 from lightsaber, +1d8 from Jedi Guardian, and +3d8 from the Prestige Class Jedi Weapons Master.) Average good blaster does 3d6(Heavy Blaster or Carbine). You get feats like rapid fire that lets you shoot twice for a -2 to hit on both and you can do 12d6 in a round. There is also Multifire and Autofire on some weapons. Then there is the standard multiple attacks at each 6+ level. Edit: With the few things I forgot that Drakron said. Went to luch and forgot to post this.

Please no fading to black... it was getting good!
Sorwen replied to prsrulez's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Hey, some had kids. I hope that came from more the groping or I've been lucky all these years. I should wear gloves and practice safe groping? Though don't take it as I advocate more than PG for a Star Wars game. -
