  1. I'm afraid she always kills the Jedi masters. Unless you kill them yourself.
  2. I usually follow the Influence Guide and swap members as appropriate But where there's no influence to be gained, I usually stick with Atton and one other - Mira's cool, or Disciple if I'm female, Handmaiden if I'm male. But Atton is usually there.
  3. What stoffe said is correct, although I believe that it was Kreia who voice locked the navicomp, and yes, it was to disguise where Revan had gone.
  4. I personally thought that was KotOR2's strength. I did like KotOR1. I went all tingly when I finally found out I was Revan (I was playing the game completely blind, and I didn't guess, although it turns out quite a few people did manage to guess) and I was so excited I couldn't sleep (yes, I get excited easily). However, once that was over, that was it. Great game, good experience, but I had no desire to play it again or to go online to find out what I'd missed. With KotOR2, there was no moment of great excitement, but it did stay with me a lot longer than KotOR1. I did have to think about it more, too. And as soon as I'd completed it once, I felt compelled to play it again. After KotOR1, I felt exhausted, I'd enjoyed the journey, but playing through certain parts of it again - Tatooine, or Manaan, for example - is a real chore. With KotOR2, I also felt I'd missed quite a bit. I went online, read a few threads, and realised what scenes I had missed (for example, first time through, I had no idea any of my companions could be turned to Jedi). Each time through there's been something new, for me. Yes, I also missed things in KotOR first time round. I recently played through again, actually, because I was reading certain things on this board that I'd missed (noteably, the romance with Carth). But I didn't feel as compelled to find out what I'd missed in KotOR1 as I did with KotOR2. I'm not saying that one has more depth or a more complex story than the other - both games have a tremendous amount to offer - but I do enjoy replaying KotOR2 more. Anyway, that's all personal opinion. But if you were looking for some big revelation in KotOR2, I can't help but feel that you've missed the entire point. And I do think that the Exile is a very powerful character. The Exile also provides a nice contrast to Revan. But I don't feel that the Exile is 'just an echo.' The Exile also has just as much history as Revan.
  5. I agree with Blaise. I really, really liked the revelation that you were Revan, that was a stellar scene, but for me, it was the only one I really remembered. I completely forgot that Bastila's mother even existed until I played through the game again. I do think it's just a matter of personal opinion.
  6. With such a very loose connection you could just about join anyone to anybody. No, they are not in the least alike.
  7. When I first supported Queen Talia, I raided the museum anyway... Afterwards she says, 'I was going to give you relics from the museum as a reward...but looters got there first and took everything.' I felt really guilty.
  8. I'm going to go the route of the cop-out and agree with Zero; except I think that A is possibly Visas and C Mira. I do agree with Zero's choices for the rest, however.
  9. I think you need to recognise a little humour I'd vote Revan, anyway.
  10. Was the dialogue interesting, Witchzenka? Or was there not really that much that was new?
  11. Yes, there's something slightly menacing about having only droids around, and them all attacking you...
  12. Eh, I completely disagree. I've been playing through KotOR1 and KotOR2 concurrently and almost every planet I like better than in KotOR1. For me, Peragus and Telos are a lot better and more interesting than Taris. Yes, I actually like Peragus. I thought it was a good introduction to the story. I really liked Nar Shaddaa. There was quite a bit to do and Goto was an interesting person (until you finally got him on your ship). Korriban, well, no, that wasn't half as good as it was in KotOR1. I do agree with you there. Dantooine? Well, Dantooine runs horribly in KotOR1, so that makes me more inclined to like the KotOR2 playthrough But anyway, Dantooine in K1 had horribly long maps and it took forever to run everywhere, especially when you had to keep reporting back to the council. In fact, I dislike the long maps; I did appreciate how KotOR2 offered ways you could get to other areas very quickly, or had slightly more compact maps that didn't require you to run down really long corridors. Manaan always annoyed me with the underwater suits, too - that part of the game is really slow. And Tatooine? The endless seas of sand...no, I dislike Tatooine too. Onderon and Dxun, well, I was disappointed with Onderon. But Dxun actually offered up quite a lot and I liked the lush forest a wee bit more than the forests of Kashyyyk. So, overall, I prefer running through KotOR2's planets much more than I do KotOR1's.
  13. All the questions are ones which have been dissected over and over in this forum and many answers have been offered up. Here's some of the answers: 1) Kreia would like the Exile to become the strongest they can be, especially if they are to go and aid Revan. This means that the Exile has to defeat or break with everyone they currently have ties to. If the Exile dies, the Exile wasn't strong enough anyway. 2) This could be a case of more time elapsing than the game would appear to show (maybe they have just enough time to make enough repairs to get the Ebon Hawk spaceworthy - it could be that a couple of hours elapse between the Exile killing Kreia and getting back to the where the ship was - not unfeasable). Or maybe the ship wasn't that badly damaged in the first place - a case of looking worse than it was. After all, at the beginning of the game the ship is fairly banged up with half of the ship either gone or inoperable, and yet it still manages to make it to Peragus. 3) Why is this such a negative point? Maybe Kreia no longer has the will or desire to tell you, or maybe because you didn't already know, it leaves it so that you don't have to make up your mind... 4) This could just be a case of Kreia having manipulated the Exile all along, perhaps she caused him to feel the pain. Or maybe by finally betraying the Exile, the Exile's bond was finally broken. Maybe the bond was never actually lethal, or maybe her idea was to make the Exile hate her so much that he had the will to resist the bond in the end. See number one. 5) Yes, it's a cop-out. The ending was rushed. Still, I really enjoyed the game up until then.
  14. Laozi always manages to strike the right tone with his posts. They're actually amusing. You also have to take them with a pinch of salt.
  15. Unfortunately I tried this. I even tried holding off the conversation/conversion to Jedi until I'd gained as much influence as possible, and I still got influence failure *sigh*
  16. So far as I know it's the only game to offer you that option, though! Anyway, I find arguments that 'I'm male and I like to play the character as myself' or 'I could no less be female than I could darkside' far more compelling than trying to argue Revan is male on a historical, 'this is what women have done through the ages' argument. Stop_him has pretty much made all the good points. Revan is a male's name is...well...I always assumed Revan and Malak to be the equivalent of surnames. The way Anakin is often referred to as 'young Skywalker'. And military officers in Star Wars are usually referred to by surnames; Ackbar, Dodonna, etc.
  17. Yes, definitely, that was also a big reason why it failed to be as involving for me. You couldn't talk to, let alone have romances with, the people in your party. BG2 had romances which went really, really far (to having children) which I enjoyed :D
  18. But you could argue that the character was a major part of the story. The story centred around the main character, after all. I much preferred BG to Icewind Dale 2, which made your characters feel like interlopers on a story that really didn't involved them. ...I think I've strayed so far off the point that I can't see it any more!
  19. No, it shouldn't be too late Or you could deliberately lose influence with Atton - if you can bear to, tha is!
  20. I don't think it's particularly easy to roleplay either gender. A game that draws the player in will still need a good, strong character. Adventure games are probably the best genre to look at in this respect; adventure games live and die by the virtues of the central characters. In my experience, you are also likely to see a much larger female gamer percentage in the roleplaying and adventure genres - larger, say, than for FPSs. Adventure games always have a very clearly defined protagonist, who is usually male, but that does not seem to affect the game nor the people who play it. What really matters is that the character is interesting. The Broken Sword and Monkey Island series are both good examples of successful characters.
  21. They only appear if you have more influence with Disciple than with Atton; I remember one forumer saying you needed 30% more influence. So you are most likely to see the scenes if you visit Dantooine first and level Disciple up into a Jedi before Atton (easy to do if you are on Dantooine and haven't done Nar Shaddaa).
  22. Interesting theory, but...no. There are many, many reasons that you do not see as many girl gamers, but that does not really factor into it, at all.
